THE BEST TRUCK CAMPER of 2018 - Cirrus 920 Walk Thru

- I looked at a ton of different truck camper options available in 2018 from Lance's, to Artic Fox, to the Massive Host and Eagle Cap campers and all in all the Cirrus line of 820 and 920 campers are by far my favorite option for hard sided campers.

So excited to find your channel. After going through a lot in my life in the last few years...have done a lot of soul searching and decided that a truck camper would be a good fit for me. But wow! are they expensive! Keep bringing good video's.
Hey Paula! I am so glad to hear the videos are beneficial for you. I have done the same in the past couple years and I love the camper community! They are expensive when they are brand new, and even used they can be more expensive than trailers, but they offer so many benefits over a trailer. The main, obvious one being that you can park in 1 parking spot and get into a lot tighter spaces than you could with a trsiler
If you couldn't tell I LOVE these Cirrus campers! For my taste, they are the best of 2018. Thanks so much for watching, now go mob!
I’ve toured the factory where these are built. Top notch Amish craftsmanship with great people building them. 👍🏻
Dude I just got sucked into the rabbit hole I’m on your playlist haha . Great content I’m thinking of getting a truck camper and living in it permanently . I’m on the edge right now . I just have to take care of some things then jump in . My dog just passed and I wasn’t expecting that so soon this year . You do recommend this truck camper .So it’s just me so time for some change thanks for the content .
Glad the videos are helping you brother! So sorry to hear about your pup, sounds like some miles under the tires will do some good for ya! Preperation is important but Don't take too long getting ready and just jump in!
Aww I’m so sorry for your dog 😢
Tbh can not believe they kept bed campers around but then again so glad they did! So beautiful, I'm gonna cry. 🤦🏼♀️ I remember playing in a 90s model. You need your shotguns and rifles for huntin!!
You guys are too funny 🤣
MY next step when my van goes out. But not to crazy with the tall hight might restrict me from a few favorite malls
That's the coolest truck bed camper that I've ever seen !!! Thanks !
Truly a beauty!
Love your sense of humor guys . Nice truck camper . Thanks for the tour of the 920 Cirrus .
So when the truck drove by at the end of the movie in the water off it was it the Curtis model the less numbered one off that you mentioned on it?
The cirrus seems to be way more modern looking I dont feel like I'm in my great grandma's camper love it
Very nice but would be much nicer with a slide out . Does Cirrus make any with slides ?
You guys are funny !! Nice camper !
His and her shotguns love it!
And the oven
Going to check out their 2021 next
They ought to do a Sprinter van with all those fixtures.. 🎯
It will follow up part the 1st time I take it to the grand staircase of the Escalante
That window to the back of the truck shoyjs be a little bigger. I want to get a tundra crewmax since the back window goes down.
I see the trend is for trucks to have extended cabs with 4 doors. So the campers have extended cab-overs. So...they switched the bed to north-south. Then you sit at the foot of the bed & SCOOCH into place. Normally you sit on the side of the bed & pivot-roll into place. I prefer the east-west beds. Great headspace when sitting on the bed.
You guys actually answer comments, that's awesome and your review was very thorough.........you just got another subscriber!!
Oh heck ya! I appreciate each and every view and comment! Glad you liked the video, there is a lot more where that came from. Glad to have you following along!
No problem
One simple long shot of the interior would be nice but it never happens.
Damn people. Get yall ass up and go see it for yourself.
What a riot. Our minds went to a rifle storage straight away.
When I think of cirrus it’s the vision jet line up
Price? And, why didn’t you tour the outside? That heavy duty bumper we glimpsed in the closing shot was interesting. Does that come with it? I don’t relish the idea of removing the bumper on my truck.
2 toilets & 2 kitchen fold down sinks would b simple up grade. U pick the shitter option depending on where u r & what is best for disposal at that time. Most ppl hving cassette & japan bagging it seems best 2 toilets to hve on 1 camper. Hving a small soup sink & small rinse sink saves water & when folded u still hve counter space. Fold down bunk is cool but needs a sunroof bubble ceiling over the bunk spot to give just a tiny bit more head room on long bubble sunroof side.
Still sold on Northern Lite or Bigfoot Canadian made campers. 5 Star rating for years now and still a superior product.
The northern lites are beautiful! Have you been inside a cirrus?
I have been looking at Northern lite too
For a camper that's under $40,000.00 brand new this camper really has a lot of nice features for what it is.
I think so to! Thx for watching
How much does something like this cost ? And how much does it cost to install this on your truck
Very nice!👍🏼
I'm looking for a camper for a 2010 Honda Ridgeline which one should I get
Interior finish reminded me of a European style campervan.
Then I saw the Thetford UK-spec cooker, and the Alde heating. From their website, looks like they're trying to incorporate some European van ideas. The interior finish is more my cup of tea than any North American truck camper I've seen yet; not really a fan of the '80s cottage kitchen look.
It's really nice, I've no idea if ~£30k is good money for a truck camper over here though (it'd be even more in reality, no dealers over here).
Good stuff!
That is exactly the reason I love this camper. Everything seems to be of a higher quality, specifically, European. The acrylic windows, dometic sink/stove and like you said the alde heating system is amazing. Where are you from?
@@Down2Mob Yeah, it's really interesting how much it looks like something Hymer or Frankia would make on the inside. Even made me have a look at payloads on pick-ups over here (possible, but I think the bed size would be the big issue here; our trucks are just smaller I think).
Truck campers are uncommon in Europe, though getting more common. Was camping in the Yorkshire Dales last summer, and there were loads in one field. The ability to unload it onto jacks and have a normal vehicle (and not have to pull a caravan) appeals, but the size of pick-ups as a daily driver puts a lot of people off over here (most will be single cab & farm or builders trucks; not all, though).
I'm in West Yorkshire in the UK (West Yorkshire is the Best Yorkshire).
@@shabingly very cool! Ya the weight is certainly an issue, and this camper is actually on the lighter side of things! But there are more and more lightweight, smaller truck campers coming around over here. Same thing, people don't want to have to have a full size truck to haul one around
That camper is sick
@Down2Mob - With the four posts, and camping for longer than a weekend, do you remove your camper for longer stays? TIA.
Hey rodney! No I have actually never removed the camper. It is bolted to the chassis and could be removed fairly easy, but it is not currently setup for that. I would love to be able to have the option to take it off, but I typically don't stay places very long anyways so I don't mind. Also, the camper floor is also the bottom of the truck, so it would need more of a flat bed built, and would add a little weight. Thanks for the question, keep em comin!
curious to hear if you're still a big fan of these. they've made some improvements the last few years it seems.
Pretty cool, thanks for showing it to us!
Hey thanks for watching, Dave!
so how is the insulation as compared to an arctic fox?
Hey Phil, Michael in Houston here 😎If not stated later in the vid...(I’m @5:21) could you give me your honest opinion about weight/capacity for a 2900’ box camper & the fact that your friend stated his truck capacity as 3000lbs & it was a gasoline powered truck.? My thinking is he’s real close to max capacity. I’m thinking a duelly with @ least 4.5K capacity & pain that they are for parts & repair in the “boonies”, still the best for this rig is a huge diesel. Just IMHO, I’m no expert.... you are Bud! Yak bak when able,
Michael
3:55
That's the reason you have more payload. A gas engine weighs less, so you can haul more. Look it up.
Good call! I wasn't paying much attention when he said that to be honest Haha zoned in on this beauty camper. Thx for watchin!
Unless your going uphill
@@nacorider good call Howard. A diesel will give you the torque to get up that hill, even with a ton of weight!
Would be nice if you throw in some details, eg. total weight, water tank capacity.
You mean the stuff that you can easily Google?
which truck would be more preferable for this camper ram 2500 kamins diesel or ram 3500 kamins diesel
Love the truck camper. Do you think there would be any possible way to have a motorcycle mounted with the truck camper in the truck bed? I don’t think there would be any room with the truck camper in to get a motorcycle mount.
Hey alexis! I carry a dirtbike behind my truck camper, it would be possible, but the issue becomes entering the rear door. Ideally, it would be nice to have it on a swing out mount so you could enter the camper, but that would hve to be a VERY heavy duty setup! I use the ultimate mx hauler on a hitch extension/rise. What kind of motorcycle are you looking to haul? Also, this camper hangs below your rear bumper and takes over your tail lights, it goes quite low.
I love tent
Just need to get a couple solar panels up on the roof of it.
Yes sir! That is an option from the factory, but much cheaper to do it yourself!
This is the best truck camper also I like the cassette toilet
Only the Cirrus 720 offers a cassette toilet right now. 820 and 920 have black tanks. But that could change....
Can you tell me about your truck what year is it?
Is it as insulated as the arctic fox? 🤯
Where do I find used ones? They’re slim to none on Facebook & Craigslist.
Anyone know if these are allowed in paid rv parks like on a truck?
I think it's funny that he thinks that "equal storage" will eliminate arguments.
Yes it's all equally hers.
She will always get more space
80% equal storage for your hands, you lonely sexless incel lol. #madatchad #80%incel20%douche
Various persons have different definitions of "equal". Does it have 3 bathrooms; one for him (the smallest one) and 2 for her?
A real man takes the smaller dude.
Thank you for all the great info. Now I know which one my wife and I WILL BUY!
Love your videos. Saving me mucho time in camper research. 👍👍
So glad to hear that Jim! Thx for watching
no way these are the best, host are amazing. host are king of truck campers.
CAN TOYOTA HILUX OR L200 HOLD IT ? Or have to be big truck?
Is the 920 still in production?
check out the Host Mammoth... best camper ever made
Please film the whole thing first for us to have an idea of the layout
just wondering what's the point of "showing" a RV or camper if a person is in more then 50% of the shot at all times?
Cause he's not too bright.
Than*
Who cares
Do they make one for gmc Canyon
Do they make these to fit a Colorado?
Nice
What the total height incuding the track?
It must be personal preference. The best campers are Northern Lite and Bigfoot. Lance also very nice. They are all WAY more upscale products than that brand. I’ve been in them. NL has a 6 yr warranty. Only one that does.
How about a review of the Northern Lite Truck campers? Two piece fiberglass, four season truck camper. Made in Canada.
I would love to do a review on those! I have never run into one in Arizona though
I am so with you on that Northern Lights are way better complete fiberglass Construction just like Bigfoot Northern lights is the only full fiberglass construction of truck campers Bigfoot I don't think no longer around this camper will probably D laminated like the rest of them arctic fox supposed to be one of the good ones if you do your research you find out that a lot of them D laminates
@@teddyr7901 my friend, these campers use what's called Azdel siding which is a far superior product. Look into it, it has stronger insulation properties, lighter, and stronger than your average siding. Fiberglass is great but I believe azdel is better. Have you ever been in a cirrus? They are a whole other ballgame of quality and feel more like a $300k expedition truck than a $35k truck camper. But again, that's just my opinion

COMPLETELY incorrect Down2Mob. Molded Fiberglass (like a sailboat) monocoque construction is orders of magnitude better than a item with siding and hundreds of moment connectors. ANY engineer knows that.
You forgot to mention it has a seamless aluminum roof and one of the best heating systems made for RVs brought over from Europe the Alde heat system. They also have more storage than any other truck camper in this size range .These campers are also assembled by Amish Craftsman in Ohio.Great customer service and back their products .Check out the Cirrus owners group and the limited problems they have even if out of warranty they back up their product. Also check out truckcampermagazine.com review on them.I'm ordering one in the spring.31300.00 with options I want .
Some great points Vince! I touched on the heating system a bit, but I still want to do a more in depth review. Truck camper magazines review is what initially turned me on to these!
That sounds like a reasonable price. The only question is - where will you go first?!
Congrats on the new Cirrus. Im torn between the Cirrus 920 and a Northern Lite for my next, and hopefully last, rig.
did it occur to you at all that when showing the bathroom it would be more useful seeing the bathroom rather than his back and the back of his head? just curious
Hey thanks for watching! No it didn't. This wasn't scripted, just a quick tour.
Did it ever occur to you that being a douche canoe is not the way to talk to someone? Film your own walkthrough if it bothers you that much.
I giggled when the guy thought his truck with a 3,000 lbs cargo capacity could haul this. If this camper weights 2,9000 lbs dry then you can’t carry anything else including passengers.
Those cargo capacities are like on ladders. They can carry way more than 3000 lbs safely. As long as he stays under 3500 or 3600 he will be alright. That being said by the time you add water (30 gallons weighs 240 lbs), food, propane, and all of your crap you are talking about another 500 lbs. He is at least 200 lbs so he better have one skinny girlfriend.
drunk commenter They normally don’t fib more than 10%. Although it is very rare, highway patrol can pull you over and check weights. Don’t know why but year ago in my area they pulled over every truck towing and checked weight limits (personal not commercial.) Just about the craziest thing ever.
This is cool, buy $33k price is insaine
Buddy didn't get your shower joke 🤣
Check out a Mammoth 11.6. It's pricy but holy shit it's nice electric fireplace, theatre seats, and a slideouts. Cost, wait for it, $70,000
I know, they are amazing! We did a video on one a while back ua-cam.com/video/zlrBcMETJuQ/v-deo.html
Nice for a light weight rig, but not the best for long term travel.
No air conditioning?
That's pretty cool for a truck camper... reminds me of an earth roamer... for less than 500k. lol
The Gimpy Camper I just came to this video right after watching the earth roamer !!
What is the interior height?
Would it fit a 2005 Toyota tundra?
Love these camper
Nice 920
They are awesome! Thx for watchin
A "ton" (chuckle). Each?
What about an Inverter ???
My honest opinion , it's almost foolish to look at campers ( weather truck camper or 5th wheel ) that don't have slide outs. Yes , they add weight , but when parked , opened up , you have so much more room. Truck campers.....Host is what has blown me away , mainly because of the space they offer. Lance and Artic fox make some badass campers as well , but man......for me , Host has what I'm looking for at the moment.
How much are these campers?
I can see the poor choice of materials "Pressboard dividers" and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole
Love this, I wish they sold it in Australia.
How about this - you can have the cirrus - give us all the other badass offroad campers you have over there! Haha cheers
Its called a Froli sleep system
I wouldn't put a 2900 lb DRY WEIGHT camper on a truck rated for 3,000 lbs; just sayin'.
Wasichu Wacanta I was thinking the same thing. Because the guy doesn’t realize as soon as he and his wife get in his truck he is over his cargo capacity. The sticker in my glove box says not to put a slide in camper larger than 2,000 lbs yet I have a cargo capacity of 2,900 lbs. it is a 2019 Chevy 2500.
@@darrenwarren1730 Exactly! I have a '19 Sierra Elevation1500 with max tow pckg, so I can put around a ton in the bed, but can tow 11,900. I have a topper on it now, and will be retiring next summer. I was planning on living out of the truck Oct-April, then come back to my property in CO for the Summer. I found a cargo trailer dealer in Castle Rock that takes cargo trailers and insulates/lines them, with windows, light, battery power, 30 amp service, etc, and a 7x14 with dual axles only weighs around a ton, with a 4500 lb cargo capacity, so I could load the hell out of it and live pretty comfortably, and drop the trailer for off road expeditions!
how does it compare to the Arctic Fox 990?
I haven't been able to see a 2018 Arctic Fox 990 but it is on my list for sure!
The 990 is nice also. Heavier for sure and it's a slide out, so different class of truck camper. These new cirrus 920 caught the eye of the rv community this year it was rv of the year. These guys are right, it is very hi tech. Radiant hot water heat, hi tech accessories and construction. Not to mention the awesome style and unique look.
What model truck camper has the largest bathroom in industry ? That’s also dry
Good question! Check out the cirrus 670. It has an amazing bathroom that goes from dry to wet bath
Def nice but I’m 6;2 300lbs I need room !!! There’s a host mammoth that’s nice but there huge money I gotta go see some in person
@@francoprezioso1882 I hear ya man! I am a big guy too. 6 foot, 250lbs. I think the cirrus has enough room, but the host mammoth is WAY bigger and nicer if you want to haul it around. Check out my walk thru of it! ua-cam.com/video/zlrBcMETJuQ/v-deo.html

38,000? Assuming you get a discount, like all smart buyers do, OK. It's pretty dope.
But I have the 2019 Northern Lite 10-2 Ex CD SE.
I paid 41k last September. It has all that and more.
Most importantly is the clam shell molded design that lasts forever. Which is the main reason I bought it.
I live in it full time. It's not perfect. There has been a couple issues. However I'm still living in it full time.
Oh, and bonus! I dumped my ex who hated being in a camper and out of nowhere a hot Lil 18 year old showed up, moved in and we are loving camper life. Even my dog enjoys it.
If this company did something as durable as NL or Bigfoot, I'd love it. But panel campers just don't last.

Can a person 6'5" walk comfortably in one of them? Thanks in advance for your response.
Hmmm that is pushing it I think. You might be able to fit but don't quote me. I might include this in a Q and A about this camper
Most truck campers have at least 6'3" of headroom in the galley/dining area. Less in the bath, essentially none in the cab-over. Check out an Arctic Fox 865, it might work for your giant. Realistically, a Class B+ motorhome or a trailer/5th wheel might be your best bet. I'm about 6'4" and have had to rule out more choices than not.
@@colormedubious4747 🤣 I don't have any giant(s). Just curious of max height. Thank you!
Approx price??
Dude, I would be afraid that thing would topple over!! It looks top heavy!! I see a lot of them out and about, but if you articulate like you like to do in the Dodge, that thing would be on its side. Would you recommend a dually truck for that setup??
I know what you mean! They are TALL. that is ultimately why I didn't buy a regular truck camper, I wanted to wheel harder and be able to side hill without feeling like I'm gonna flop. This is actually on the lighter side of hard side, slide in truck campers. It's about 2800lbs, those other campers I reviewed like the host mammoth or eagle cap 1165 are pushing 5-6k lbs. And need a beast of a truck. This thing would be fine with a 3/4 ton but ideally at least a 1 ton. Dually wouldn't be necessary
Problem solved

Will it fit a Ford F-150 2018 61.7 bed? Or 5.5 super crew?
I believe it will, but don't quote me on that! It can handle 3/4 ton but 1 ton would be best
You need a 3/4 ton truck does not matter what truck camper you got F Ford 150 will not do it's a light duty truck these truck campers or heavy even if you get a Northern Lights which are the lightest one you still need a 3/4 ton truck
Now North Star you might be able to but you're not going to have a bathroom and all the other stuff that you like it's basically stripped down to the basics it is the lightest of all out there for light-duty trucks but you're not going to have all the extra stuff
@@teddyr7901 these campers are only 2500lbs with all the options. 2klbs base. That's extremely light. The azdel siding helps. From what I know off a quick search (I'm not an expert in northern lights as they don't sell then in my area) the average northern lights is about 3k lbs
I should add, those numbers are for the 820, which is what this gentleman should look at vs. The 920 shown here. 1 foot length and some small differences
You sound like RivalXFactor....
