a story behind this song: the band was on a US tour; and allowed a music magazine writer to ride along.....he was questioning the mechanics of song writing with Ian Gillian and Ritchie Blackmore....they put together the lyrics and guitar riffs on the bus, adding in the bass and keyboards, and performed the song next night at a live show......
Love Deep purple! Best driving song, Ian Gillan the vocalist was concidered the best in the world here. Still listen to them and I’m 64 lol Child in time live in 1970 shows what these guys can do. Space truckin’ is one of my favourites. Enjoy!
I'm heading to Stuttgart this summer to see Deep Purple (again) AND Ian Paice. I had to learn Roger Glover's bass line in one week to play at a festival (I'd only been playing 2 months and this was way back in 82). Jon Lord would run his Hammond through those Marshall's. *Just an FYI, this is an audio dub, not the live version from this Copenhagen concert (which is amazing, especially The Mule).
i wonder if Prince covered some Deep Purple songs. plus the fact that he has a song titled Purple Rain. And Hendrix had Purple Haze so it all fits. And Raspberry Berets are kind of purple this looks interesting seems that DP was already popular back then (1969) ua-cam.com/video/gnA1IMnLZr4/v-deo.html
The remarkable thing about how good this sounds is the circumstances surrounding the recording of the Machine Head album, documented in the song Smoke on the Water
I responded to your NightWish Story Time reaction and subscribed to your channel. Now I’m watching all your other reactions. Deep Purple was my first love, I was about 10 or 11 years old when I bought my first album ever , witch was Deep Purple in Rock followed by Made in Japan. If you like analog organs you really should check out Ayreon as I suggested in my previous post. It’s a prog rock concept band by Arjen Lucassen a Dutch musician who is in the business for over 40 years. He uses a lot of analog organs like a Hammond ( inspired by Deep Purple) and also a Prophet, and a lot of guitar’s. He is a multi instrumentalist. Another rabbit hole you would like and by watching him many more automatically will follow. 🫶🤘🇳🇱
@@2ndhandsoulsmusic When you do Ayreon, you really should start with The Day That The World Breaks Down (Frank probably told you that, but in case he didn't, I will.) That'll open up another rabbit warren, as there's 11 different singers that you'll end up wanting to check out - although you might recognize some of them! Arjen put together a great video with all kinds of informational tidbits included: ua-cam.com/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/v-deo.html
@@MsCatstaff I did mention that, but I saw that, for some strange reason, my previous post was no longer there!? So thank you for suggesting TDTTWBD. 👍
@@frank1963 I've just found this channel tonight, so I haven't gotten through all the comments on all the reactions yet. But I figured even if it had been mentioned, mentioning it again wouldn't hurt. Hope your other post reappears!
This is the studio version, badly edited to performance video, sadly whoever edited this didn't even try to synchronize the music to the video at several points.
I enjoyed ur Nightwish 'Ghost Love Score' reaction, but not sure I can watch many more? As there are TOO many pauses, for my liking. Some reactors pause too much, and some don't, and some don't pause at all, and we get to enjoy the whole song. But as you don't know what's coming up, you pause just before a great bit, thus, ruining the flow. :o(
Great reaction! But you pause a lot, i don’t mind pausing at all, it’s a reaction video of course, but especially during solos isn’t a great idea. Thanks
Stopping too often is extremely annoying. It kills the flow and energy of the song. Lay off it. It actually got more annoying as the video went on and then you managed to lose your place in the song. Attention deficit disorder combined with technical incompetence. NEVER interrupt a guitar solo like that. What a car crash! I will remember to avoid your videos in future. I had to give up on it before the end.
That doesn't happen anymore. At the time we did this video, we were just learning how it worked. If you watch one of our more recent videos, you will see for yourself.
This song was responsible for untold speeding tickets back then.
Richie Blackmore Jimmy Page Eric Clapton Jeff Beck the great British guitarists of the time. The best to this day !! Unequalled.
True that. Thanks for watching.

Wow! cool info. Thank you.
It was the uk tour in 71 and they played a version in Portsmouth the same night
Love this from an old Purple fan, saw them live many decades ago - bringing back happy memories, thanks you

as a teenager i saw them live and i remember those marshalls were cranked up.
Deep Purple April 7th,1974 was my first concert I ever went to. It was at a place called Big Surf water park in Tempe Az. That concert was rockin'.
You are right guys the unholy trinity Deep purple, black sabbath and Led Zeppelin the start of heavy metal and hard rock!
No Moog Synthesizer it's a Hammond through Marshall speakers.
One of the greatest
Richie Blackmore is best 5 rock composer in the world !

Wow! That's some serious accomplishment to learn those lines in 1 week after only been playing 2 months! Wow!

I don't think Prince covered any Deep Purple, but was probably influenced by them. Thanks for watching.

You can't stop in the middle of a solo 🙄

Thing of the past. We were being a bit overly cautious about copywrite claims. Not anymore.
Eh
DIOS EN EL CIELO DEEP PURPLE EN LA TIERRA🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🎸🎸🎸

Geezer quit stopping the video.
Only 2 or 3 times max now.
