Tittle was: "Putin Delusional". That's really a switch since in the beginning of this disaster everyone was accusing Zelensky of being "delusional" by standing up to Russian aggression. But now it would appear that Zelensky is the "rational" thinker and Putin is quite "delusional" by thinking that he (Russia) will be able to "keep" any portion of Ukraine territory. Great interview. Loved this Baltic conversation, in particular for people from Western countries long overdue to listen to people from outside our bubble.
I completely get the anger with the Russian population at large. However, I very much enjoy conversations with Natasha, Zack, Vlad, … Russians who are openly critical about the war and Putin, and at the same time reflective and analytical when it comes to Russia/ Russian people/ etc. And I do think they should be platformed and supported… I am rather impressed by Natasha and Zack in terms of their clarity in analysis and reflections.

Glad to hear perspectives from the Baltic states, as you are right about Russia entangling itself with Ukraine in a fight that has exposed its inadequacy at being only capable of scorched-earth military actions, with Ukraine taking casualties and being bombed out over the long period that it will take for Russias resources or will to fight through Putin's direction to run out of forward momentum. You are correct at the going for the unsatisfactory peace allowing a lot fo tyranny to exist in the world.

In the US, we proudly embrace and advocate for "self direction" but we call it self determination. A tad bit more assertive and a big reason why we are in awe and so inspired by the Ukrainian decision to fight for their sovereign right to self determination. Of course, as I am an old woman now, I totally understand now that we Americans are still flawed human beings but we have never let go of the concept of our right to self determination. What we keep working on is how to better secure for all of us and do a better job of it as years go on. We have our "bumps"--like recent years--but we will get better, again. And we sincerely want this for everyone in the world.

I totally agree with Georgie about the Russian attitude towards this war against Ukraine. Now I know base on hearing many Russians living outside some of them are bloggers as well, that they have no appetite to resist Putin's action in Ukraine meaning they have no balls, the Iranian women have more balls than the Russian men. They want freedom but they don't want to resist or annoyed Putin or at least to protest because they're afraid to be jailed. As I mentioned in my other comments in other program that if they really wants change they should organize a protest or rally en masse meaning at least a million people so that the police or the government has no pace to jail a million or more people. Most Russians are comfortable with their lives as long as they eat 3 times a day and have a decent job, they're ok with that.

I have just finished and loaded up a paper on 'Putin and the economics of kleptocracy.' Where it comes to Putin and Russia it seems likely, given my research, is that what we have here is a group of gangsters, not just KGB men, who made a coup, barely noted, at the end of Yeltsin's reign. There are documents between these people. Consequently, they own Russia. Not simply rule, but own. I agree with you about Putin: a godfather not an intelligence.
I certainly agree with your comments on Russia from watching Kyiv Media where POWs are interviewed. They seem not to have consciences.

"On the money". There comes a time when the refusal (for whatever reason) to stand up and be counted means your name is added to the list of those complicit in the execution of crimes against humanity.

I am British and to an extent I'm proud to be British. But we should not be imposing our will on other countries. We should be enthusiastically European and lead by example, and help people who need help. After the war Ukraine will make for a more robust Europe. Russia had its chance to be part of Europe in the 1990s as an equal partner and it chose to be separate. UK will eventually renounce Brexit to rejoin its destiny to be part of Europe, and maybe one day Russia will too. Friends are stronger than servants.

Your post has an opinion not mentioned anywhere else except by me. My posts clarify how I believe the UK has to reform itself PRIOR to reintegrating into Europe. These reforms could include the Monarchy, but have to include Parliament. When the UK returns to the EU, it has to ally with Germany to reform EU governance so the physical bureaucracy in Brussels is reined in and is not dominated by France.

All Ukrainians I know in Spain are hard-working (would like to have more immigrants from Ukraine). Most Russians I know in Russia are lazy. Some Russians I know in Spain are hard-working too. My conclusion is that Russia makes people lazy there. They rely on raw materials too much.

🇺🇸 As school children we were drilled concerning what to do when under nuclear threat, i.e. the Cuban Missle Crisis. As a career employee in a military industrial complex, I was reminded of this threat at any given time for decades. As an elderly man, I now say that it is time to end our innate fear of the wrath of Russia.

Talking about the initial part of the conversation, I, as a Brazilian living in Estonia, learned a lot during this time.
In school, my geography book had only one paragraph about the Baltics talking about the movements that started the collapse of the USSR.
When this war started and I saw people saying a lot of crap about it, I just said that they don't know shit about what happens in this part of the world.

I’m British & I respect all peace-loving, law-abiding, democratic-believing peoples (Russians included). It comes down to individual choice & action. There’s a spectrum of understanding & belief in all societies but everyone has a choice where they stand. Let’s face it, if we don’t stand up to right-Wing ideas that want to strangle freedoms or dictators who hate freedom & who poison the minds of people, we will regress into barbarism & war.
    Victory to Ukraine.

Thank you so much to you both for this podcast and being voices of reason in the whole discussion of the approach towards russians. I fully agree with your position. I was born as a child of Polish dissidents and I also wanted to underline this that we’ve always loved Baltic countries: Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. During the time I’ve been growing up in Poland I often heard how Baltics were set as an example of successful transformation for us. Thank you so much and keep up the good work! Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦 💪🏻✊🏻👍🏻🇺🇦💙💛

Thank you Georgie , so refreshing to hear you stating point blank about the newly mobilised Russian soldiers who are such self serving cowards. who together with their families are only interested in self preservation not the criminal mmorality of genocide and rape .
