I honestly felt like the Hammer upswing change is a nerf, having seen it. Like, launching can at least lead to mounts and even be used purposefully for that. @@devilalastor3320 That's what I thought they were doing before this showcase. As an S&S main, seeing the perfect rush hit that chatacabra like that was incredible. In the beta only like two of those hits would have reached it's head.
I can't yet tell if the Switch Axe changes have actually fixed the issues with the weapon, or made them worse. I think the community will need to get our hands on it to really know one way or the other. The biggest issue it had in the Beta was how strong Full Release Slash was when compared to the rest of the kit, and now they've made it even stronger; however, they've also made sword mode stronger in general. The problem is that we don't know by how much they've buffed each of these by, so we can't say if FRS still overshadows the rest of the weapon's choices in the same way that it did during the Beta.
I agree with Schneeregen, the other weapons appear to have been fixed while swaxe was tweaked now all there is to do is maintain a holding pattern and wait and see if swaxe is fun again or not

Yeah. To have a larger sample size, closer to release, and cure the backlash over the first beta. Also another chance for anyone who didn't get a chance to play the first one. I know people that didn't get the chance and I'd love it for them to try it and see what they think.

It’s a weapon I’ve always wanted to play , but just never vibed with.
The bow nerf isn't a utility buff. It's just taking away from the new mechanic. The wound change might have been needed, but this much just looks crazy. Weaker tracer arrows and slower wound shot just means mocung further away from the target to be able to the normal focus aiming. That isn't fun, and taking the power away from us after the beta isn't a good way to deal with it
It's basically the same damage but the regular arrows do more damage than before and the tracer does less balancing it so it works for more play style's like dash dancing
The vast majority of the changes are amazing, its great to see them listening to feedback. Then there was Switch Axe. Everyone said Full Release was overpowered compared to the rest of swaxe's set, and they've buffed it further. Really hope the rest of its moveset gets a buff as well, especially element/zero sum discharge.
The part about HH was very weird to me...mostly because in the beta, they'd already done exactly what it seems like they were talking about here. They nerfed Attack Up so that you literally only got a 4% attack increase from using HH as a secondary booster for your main weapon/teammates. Self Improvement on the other hand boosted your attack by 20%, but ONLY for you and ONLY if you were using a HH. Pocket horn was dead in the open beta, not strong or overused at all...maybe they pointed this out just to let people know it happened already, since it wasn't a well known change? Could've gotten lost in translation, who knows
"Pocket Horn" wasn't dead because even a 4% boost is worth it. I've seen speedrunners use it. What they did was shorten the duration of that effect when not using the hunting horn. They also nerfed the boost you can apply to teammates while buffing the boost you can apply to yourself, making it a better solo weapon.
@Omega-h4e most if not all beta speedrunners were either using or quickly switching to Demon ammo from HBG, because at 100 true raw the flat 10 it gave was more than the 4 from Attack Up. The numbers weren't high enough for it to have been worthwhile. In the full game maybe, but then you have to consider whether swapping back and forth and giving up a secondary weapon for just a 4% increase is a good idea compared to like, any alternative
Josh: "that is so cool though, all that blocking, poking and stand your ground, like, you can see why a couple people play lance". Josh, for the love of all that is holy, please pause the vod while you talk about what you just herd. I had multiple instances of having no idea what you were saying or talking about bc the ppl talking in the video was confusing with your own dialog XD also hope you get to feeling better
No changes to charge blade, that's unfortunate, it was my main in world but it felt so bad in the beta I don't think it'll even be my third. My disappointment is unmeasurable and my day is ruined.
The weapon skills are very intriguing, but I just want each weapon to be viable and not one completely overshadowing another to form a meta.🤔 Eg: Let’s say nerscylla is in the game and she has a low amt of poison, medium raw glaive with foray built in. La la barina has same raw, built in 15% affinity, and high para and has status crit. On average, Lala's glaive is doing more damage and has chances of doing more when paralysis occurs, but Nerscylla can be just as amazing because of both the crit and atk boost from foray while the monster is poisoned plus the tick damage. Both very good highly viable options
19:50 So i gotta assume that gems are also tied to weapons and as you switch weapons you can switch you socketed loadout, maybe even let us swap out charms too and they're how we are going to be how we build out our damage portion of our sets. Honestly the theory crafting is going to be CRAZY for this game
I swear other media stated that the charm/talisman may swap with the weapon but your armor/decorations in the armor is unchanged. Remember, decorations are split between ones that can only be put on weapons and ones that can only be put on armor. This also means those are clearly labeled and have different loot tables. Depending on how many points of skills are in endgame weapons, how far the up to 3 slots of varying levels, and possibly charms/talismans having weapon skills/swapping with weapons gets you. We'll just have to see if builds will need certain weapons to keep the skills we want or how much we would lose, in terms of damage skills, for taking those more niche weapon specific skills. I can still foresee, it may be even worse now, as situation where people wine to you for not getting knocked back as much with a shield. Because they now know you "wasted" weapon slots on guard and not an attack skill.
Trust us, we know the game is next year, but it would sound so much better thinking "In a couple of months" At least for me sounds closer to us playing and going through every inch of the new world.
I am so happy my IG is back in the game with this changes, so now I know i will buy it for sure, before I wasnt sure about it since i mainly played IG in world and it's not so easy for me to learn New weapons, i hate to waste time on learning New weapons.
Yeah I hope we don't end up swimming in skills. Look I am not a fan of like 20+ skills. So weapons have more damage skills and armor will have more protection sounds fine to me. I hope for one more big trailer soon? Anyway thanks for your run down of this.
as long as they didnt nerf longsword and kept the returned insect glaive bounce, im happy. havent watched the video yet, will edit. after watching the video, MORE GLAIVE BUFFS, LETS GO. Offset attack is awesome to see though will probably not be used much, still nice. Though offset DURING descending slash might be really useful, dont think they showed this in the video. Not sure what vaulting dance is but sounds cool, unless thats just what they call the bounce. Earplugs and such back with triple buff is awesome. as someone who really enjoyed lance in the open beta and plans to use it as one of my main weapons, nice to see counter being properly implemented as an actual skill to use and some buffs to guarding and such. very cool. nice to see some switch axe buffs especially for full release slash. hearing them say they want to bring up the lower performing weapons rather than bringing down the higher performing weapons is REALLY nice to hear. No longsword nerf! pog!
Certain weapons should have a good amount of hitstop, but I hope they don't overcorrect on lighter weapons like Longsword or Dual Blades, because it can throw of their cadence entirely. It's a very slippery slope when they say they're increasing hitstop, without telling us if it's only specific weapons, or if it's all of them, and if it's the latter, it is VERY easy to overcorrect. My opinion: Light weapons, i.e., Longsword, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive or SnS should not have much hitstop, where heavier weapons like Lance, Gunlance, Greatsword, Charge Blade Axe Form, Hammer and Hunting Horn should have some meaty hitstops to make it FEEL like you're wielding a light or heavy weapon based on your choice. I really hope every weapon hitstop isn't gonna be to the level of Greatsword, because that would be goofy as shit.
Beta made me upgrade my entire rig. I had the exact recommended specs too and that was a glitchy experience for me. Had to run the game on super performance to allow 60 fps, but it crashed my game upon fighting the thunder monster.
Ugh. I hear this everywhere. No one referred to it as a demo besides the players. It was a beta test, that is not the same thing. A demo is an RC/release candidate. A beta test is a beta test.
I just pray to god that the damage changes bring SAED closer to the damage output of the Savage Axe, so im not "trolling" in multiplayer because I'd rather saed than savage
I really hope that hammer launch thing changes. I don’t know why but they keep hitting the little stuff in this generation. Like the IG being in the air, walking inside of monsters, and now this launching thing. One of my buddies who’s a veteran hammer main doesn’t even want to play the game now. So are group is just gonna be one short now 😢
Nice changes, though I am sad that my main ( lbg ) is the only weapon to not get any flashy off-sets or counters or perfect evade mechanics. Just feels like a worse version of lbg in almost every way. All in all though, love the changes and adjustments they've shown!
Personally as a IG main, i liked SA / Hammer friendly hits... i just didn't like LS or Bow's (World) Rockfall (especially bow) and those IG changes... woah! i like
I will be exceedingly disappointed if there isn't a 2nd beta. I would like to test the performance on my own PC. Not being able to test it on my own pc hurts my personal opinion of the crew because I want to know if it will actually play on my own personal pc so I can decide if I'm actually going to buy the game to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the game as much as anyone, I've been playing MH since gen 1 MH came out and will continue to play. I just want to be able to play it reliably in the first place.
They said that even if there's a second beta it would be more of a bringing the beta back, so it wouldn't really be useful to test performance. They said they are going to release a benchmark tool before release so you can test performance
Friendly fire mitigation is a laugh.... They're already skills to assist with that and you should be mindful of your swings. Hammers have right of way else get yeet"d

Your comment on Ruri in the friendly fire part was 100% accurate.
I will have a few other weapons in my corner but GS is ALWAYS gonna be by my side and this makes my heart so happy lol
Trust us, we know the game is next year, but it would sound so much better thinking "In a couple of months" At least for me sounds closer to us playing and going through every inch of the new world.
Cool that the 3 weapons I played in the beta are all getting buffs lol.
Outrageous
Hammer mains have never been so sad
Sad bonk sounds 😢
I am so happy my IG is back in the game with this changes, so now I know i will buy it for sure, before I wasnt sure about it since i mainly played IG in world and it's not so easy for me to learn New weapons, i hate to waste time on learning New weapons.
“It was fun to pull out your horn and buff yourself up”. I thought you said this was a family channel
Yeah I hope we don't end up swimming in skills. Look I am not a fan of like 20+ skills. So weapons have more damage skills and armor will have more protection sounds fine to me. I hope for one more big trailer soon? Anyway thanks for your run down of this.
We get tremor and roar resistance again at triple up buffs... IG mains, we are blessed.
Now I want to know Cotton's reaction to the devs saying HH being "too overpowered" without the context of subweapons.
as long as they didnt nerf longsword and kept the returned insect glaive bounce, im happy.
havent watched the video yet, will edit.
after watching the video, MORE GLAIVE BUFFS, LETS GO.
No longsword nerf! pog!
Being a bit of a lance main, Im happy about this!
Lance mains rise up!
Rip the clutch claw counter torpedo lance it was so sayisfiying
That is something I will dearly miss😢
Super sick, I’m jealous. No cap.
I also thirst
Beta made me upgrade my entire rig. I had the exact recommended specs too and that was a glitchy experience for me. Had to run the game on super performance to allow 60 fps, but it crashed my game upon fighting the thunder monster.
Really happy for the other weapons. I was kinda hoping for a charge blade adjustment but disappointingly so, there was none :V.
Gotta say I’m very concerned about build crafting. It seems very limiting
Me and the other 2 lance mains absolutely cheering 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
You missed a rathalos in the quematrice video
I think you'll still be able to get Offensive skills on your talismans/Charm(whatever) equipment slot
switch axe is the new ls if people still complain about ls you should probably reflect.
Nah, LS is way more mobile than Switch Axe with way more counters.
@ every weapon has counters now even insect glaive whats the point of using ls or lance anymore
Critical eye only has 5 levels, and the first level only give 4% affinity
Might be able to play it with my daughter on her PC on release. 😊
Ugh. I hear this everywhere. No one referred to it as a demo besides the players. It was a beta test, that is not the same thing. A demo is an RC/release candidate. A beta test is a beta test.
I play elemental dual blades. The skill rework is going to be interesting for me.
I hope they have at least the benchmark, I did the beta on ps5 and want to test my new PC
I hope elemental and raw/affinity sets will be similarly potent.
Still no changes to the charge blade SAED combo… it takes too long to combo. So might give up CB for the insect glaive or switch axe.
Looks like they didn’t charge the combos on IG it’s gonna be rough on a controller but if with rest of the buffs it should be fine.
Good to see there's going to be a paralysis Tree this time for the great sword as MH Rise only had one for the Hammer Weapon 😎👌🏾
I just pray to god that the damage changes bring SAED closer to the damage output of the Savage Axe, so im not "trolling" in multiplayer because I'd rather saed than savage
Seems they made lance lil more faster than in MHW
I really hope that hammer launch thing changes. I don’t know why but they keep hitting the little stuff in this generation. Like the IG being in the air, walking inside of monsters, and now this launching thing. One of my buddies who’s a veteran hammer main doesn’t even want to play the game now. So are group is just gonna be one short now 😢
It's cool that they are listening, but I would really love it if they added gauntlets as a weapon... I really want to deck a Diablos on the nose
can you let the people talk my guy. completely missed the changes to having HH as a secondary
Is it possible that Lala Barina is gonna have both sleep *_AND_* para like how Uragaan has both fire & sleep?
josh is cheating on the GS he said the Switch Axe is his favorit
Happy hunting weird British dude!
"Aerial attack power increases by 2 levels"
2 levels of what? Apples? Bananas?
What do you mean... Obviously of Oranges
When life gives you levels, make lemons.
It's in there. 2 levels of attack power
Man they didn't remove that extra input for CB SAED.
The weapon upgrade reminds me alot of Wild Hearts upgrade
Nice changes, though I am sad that my main ( lbg ) is the only weapon to not get any flashy off-sets or counters or perfect evade mechanics. Just feels like a worse version of lbg in almost every way. All in all though, love the changes and adjustments they've shown!
S&S and Charge Blade are my favorites
I'm still going to play two hunting horns, 2x the melodies!!
JOSHHH ITS NEW MATERIAL TO EDGE COTTON
The launch in the hair atleast you can get a attack off it or get active after it the fall is terrible
GS and LS main here, love the GS update but why no LS update 😅
Not gonna lie been waiting on new content I'm so ready for February 😅 can't wait to hunt ig looks good
Personally as a IG main, i liked SA / Hammer friendly hits... i just didn't like LS or Bow's (World) Rockfall (especially bow)
and those IG changes... woah! i like
RIP. Headphone users 🥹
Love the intro bro lol I was dying lol
As a switch axe player i'm sad that i will not be able to launch my friends in the air anymore =(
Did u say MASSIVE weapon changes??
Friendly fire mitigation is a laugh.... They're already skills to assist with that and you should be mindful of your swings.
Hammers have right of way else get yeet"d
Kind of a dissapointment that switch axe counter still takes damage.
Not changing the insect glaives control set up? So only a person born with a 2ed thumb is the only one that can master it. Sad day.
still no hunting horn fix damnn welp
We need more weapon synergies
Josh, where is the Nightreign video!? what's going on!?
They didn't bring back the sns guard point :/ that's disappointing.
