I know a lady who lives here in the Portland area, she bought some acreage last year in NE AZ. She drives over there about every 6-8 weeks for about 2 weeks at a time and she's gotten a lot done.
She bought a used travel trailer that will be a guest house down the road but for now it's her primary home there.
She has solar she's put in a road to her place.
    She's got 5k water supply.
She has also done a lot of landscaping. I think she's going to get a few containers to build her house.
She's 59 and can do all these things because she works.
    It's not like she makes 100k + a year because she doesn't.
    She's driven.
But to to all this basically by herself from 1000+ miles away is amazing.

Yeah, but since he wants something removable/retractable, to capture some free heat during the Winter (which is a great idea) that’s definitely gonna require some extra thought/research, especially since it’s gonna be a diy project. It’s too bad all the commercial carport options are so crazy expensive.

I ripped all my insulation out and re insulated it with super high quality dense foam. Also add vent fans. Use the silver rolls of the same stuff that makes the window screens that block out the sun. Double it up and cut to fit it overnall the windows. Windshield in direct sunlight will go up to 140f. I have three vent fans and wow wht a difference. Also added two semi truck dash fans to blow the heat away from the windsheild area Doing all that brought my temps down inside massively. I wish you luck with all this your doing. Glad to see theres others out there still trying to figure all this stuff out.

I can keep the inside about 78 on the days that it is over 100. In winter we put the purple insulation board around the bottom using foil tape that doesnt leave residue on the rv

I started to watch your video today, "Does desert mean heat?". It played for a couple of minutes, then wouldn't play because it's "private". I take it this is meant for your "paid" subscribers. I think that's pretty rude. I don't donate to you, or pay for content because of your attitude. I started watching you when you showed up at Campervan Kevin's. I like him, so I thought his friend might be okay. I guess I'm supposed to pay up so I don't miss out. If I were your mother, ( and I'm certainly old enough), I would tell you that your greedy attitude is not helpful. I've watched a couple of the live videos, and, when you stop to check your PayPal balance, it makes me want to unsubscribe, not donate. I like your snarky attitude about life, but, I want to remind you that none of us needs to watch your channel. I wish you well with your new property, but, I know an abusive relationship, (for lack of a better term), when I see it.

Yes, the heat of Arizona can be intense, but the fall and spring will be more tolerable. We have bare property in western New Mexico at about 7000 feet. This year (July / August) has just been brutal for heat; longer periods of the number of days than I can recall from past years. Can you re-adjust the location of the RV for Summer, then move it more into the sun for Winter? Also, windshield barriers for both the RV and your car will help some with the temperature. 11 p.m. is a beautiful time in the desert! Enjoy your life.

Keep a wet towel around your neck, it really helps a lot.

Use some of the free materials on your land. Make your own Navajo Shade House/port. Think outside the box. Good luck 🤞

You may want to consider building a roofed structure you can pull your vehicle under. You could also build an awesome patio area. This way the sun hits the carport roof and not your RV. Just a suggestion. If it snows this will provide add protection too.

I think I’d look for a summer spot for the RV that at least gets partial shade and then full sun spot for the winter. Just a thought

The carport answer: it’s a RV; you can move it under carport or out as season requires 😜

You should try North Carolina around Maggie Valley it’s close to Asheville in the mountains in the summer. Not hot it’s around 79 during the day and low 60s evening morning and at night. God bless

Hey Mike, you don’t know me but I think I was behind you today on the 61. I’m gonna say about noonish somewhere around there. I was in a red Mustang convertible behind you. Just wanted to say hi that’s it if it was you!😊

I was thinking about it....why not get one of those hard side above the ground pools (blue)? I had a friend buy a good sized one from Walmart and her and her family used it for years with zero leaks. A small solar system would run the filter, they would cool down at night and during the day you could cool off. If you had to, you could filter the water to drink it. You could have a truck deliver the water and use a floating pool cover to help stop evaporation. Would this not work?

I live in southern Arizona and this is by far our worst month. It should pass within the next few weeks. Then again... climate change... hopefully that can work for us instead of against us...lol ❤...

I would think that moving to a new place will take time to develop the land as you have to be there awhile to assess what is the best for your time and resources. Looking forward to seeing what you do in the next couple of months to make homesteading more comfortable.

We bought land by Stanford store I hope it’s not that hot where we are lol , I know it’ll be hot it’s a desert of course but the temperature always says 82 to 92 degrees that’s responsible.
