  • "The locomotive I chose to install sound in is a Bachmann 4-4-0 Baldwin. I used all SoundTraxx products and they are as follows:
    • I went with a TSU-1100 (P.N.884006) Steam-2 for the small size.
    • CurrentKeeperII (P.N.810160) as it is a nice compact size.
    • I was able to fit in two Mini Cube Speaker/Baffle (P.N.810154).
For my process, the first thing I did was remove the old decoder and circuit board from the tender. I then test fit all the components I wanted to use to make sure everything would fit properly. I needed to remove one of the mounting posts from the old board to make space for the new speakers. After that, I glued the speakers in place. I then used a small amount of glue to secure the CurrentKeeperII in place. After everything was mounted in place, I started trimming wires and soldering in the decoder, being sure to check the leads and put heat shrink over all the joints. I also ended up adding a 1k ohm resistor for the LED lighting. After everything was hooked up and tucked into the tender, I powered up the locomotive and performed a test run. I was able to choose the best sounds from the wide range that is available. The included directions to perform the install were very clear and easy to follow." -Scott H.

I have one of these locos. It ran fine the first time I tried it out and then I took it to a friend's to run on his layout. It makes all the noises like it's moving...but it's not. I'll have to try this out sometime!
