I’m honored and very blessed to call Herb Chapman my friend and former guitar teacher. This song is very touching as I know how very proud Herb was of both his boys and their music careers. This song hit me kinda hard. I lost my dad in March of 2001 he was 53, this coming year it will 20 years and I still cry, not only was he my hero, but a hero to others as he was a firefighter and I did not realize until some time until after he passed how much pain he carried because of his job. Daddy I miss you and think of you everyday and thank you for always helping me to remember that Christ loves me and you do to. Until I see you again.
My Step Dad, was my Father. He was the safety and the love that I needed so very much. I felt bad toward the end of his life( he died from Colon Cancer that had spread to his liver). I fear I wasn’t as good a daughter as I should have been. I Miss him so much!!!!He was my hero!
God knows how I longed for a Dad like this, but we live in a broken world. My Heavenly Father gifted me with an amazing man that my kids get to call Dad everyday of their lives and he is our hero! Thank you Steven.

My dad, who is 80 and recently moved into a nursing home, was not that kind of father. My parents separated when I was 8, wow, 49 years ago. Our relationship was spotty at best until 4 1/2 years ago when I realized that I could lose him any day and be left with so many regrets.
He still had a hard time with relationships after I came back into his life, we never fully connected. Now he has dementia, which he swore he would never have, too proud for that.
Because of the quarantine, I haven't seen him since mid-April and, of I'm honest, that's been a blessing. I know he will not be nice when I do see him because of so many lost opportunities over the years, and because of the dementia.
So, y'all, I would covet your prayers for when I do get to see him.
Thank you for the beautiful song, Steven! God has graciously given me a wonderful husband who is the best dad to our children, so I will play it for him.
Dear God, Thank-you for Steven Curtis Chapman, his dad, and all his family including those under your loving wings. Be with us as we celebrate fathers and especially be with those who only have memories of them. Amen.

Father's Day has been bittersweet for me for almost 8 years since my dad passed away. This weekend was very important for us, and is for my boys and me today. Thank you for once again gifting me with a song that in its simplicity, found another way to connect me to my dad's memory, in a way that was unexpected and touching.
