@@dcgo44r I've never heard of that broheim & I'm 99.999% sure that's disinformation! I've used MMO & had great results adding it to gas & crankcase oil with prior badly performing ATV's & automobiles that were abused by the prior owners & the engines are all running smoothly now. Quiets engines immensely, especially when adding it to a quality synthetic or heavy duty motor oil. I've researched this product quite a bit & have never heard of alcohol being in the ingredients. It definitely has no alcohol odor to it either. I use pennzoil platinum & platinum ultra full synthetic in more modern & new cars, then shell rotella heavy duty full synthetic in atvs, classic vehicles & some older to modern. MMO is great from my experience with it!
@@dcgo44r put a few oz in a jar, leave the cap off. Mark your calendar & see how long it takes to evaporate. I suspect you'll be waiting ALONG time. Likely many years. Freeze it. See what happens. I put the whole jug in the freezer.
I've been using 4oz per fill up for years in my 03 Corolla. 322,000 miles now on original untouched drivetrain. Still runs like new. I can really feel the power difference (especially when I let off the clutch) with and without it. I'm sold.
Excellent reviews Erik. I remember when my Father purchased a brand new 1967 VW bug right off the show room floor, then during the late seventies the leaded fuel was being phased out, that's when my Father purchased a MMO injector system which was a glass jar that held like a quart and was attached to a vacuum line on the carb which was a timed system that put an "X" amount of drops per min to replace the lack of lead in fuel needed to lubricate to top end and the Sodium filled valves. We drove that VW bug for a couple of decades even to Henderson,NC on a couple of occasions to visit my Mother's Mother (Grandma) MMO is fantastic and I couldn't agree with you more about the product and I use it as well in my 1994 Chevy Silverado extra cab truck.🇺🇸✌️
I started using MMO back in the early 80's would use 20% in my crankcase and change every 3000 miles. These days, with modern engines, at 500-1000 miles before my oil change, I top off the crankcase with MMO. Never had an oil-related engine problem.
Well said Farpoint Farms. Back in 2016, the mechanic who had just replaced the fuel pump in my 2002 Chevy delivery truck said using some Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas would keep the fuel pump lubricated and it would last longer. He said MMO would clean the entire fuel system as well as improving the gas mileage. I also started to add MMO to the gas of my 2002 Lincoln Town Car, and the highway mileage increased at least an extra 1.5 to 2 miles per gallon. With Walmart selling the quart (32 oz) size for $3.88, I am actually saving money using MMO because I am using less gas. About two years ago, I started noticing a lifter ticking noise in my truck which now has 146k miles on it. It was a quart low on oil, so I added a quart of MMO to the crankcase and within a couple of weeks the noise went away. When I had the next oil change, the oil was as black as coal, telling me that the MMO had cleaned some of the sludge out of the engine. I am also sold on Marvel Mystery Oil.
@@FarpointFarmsA few years ago I had borrowed my parents 99 Yukon Denali and noticed a tick nose driving so I pulled over and threw in some of the marvel mystery oil that they had in the back container in the back end and the lifter tick went away immediately
@@308dad8 ...That is some boomer shit if I've ever seen it. CLP is specifically designed for firearms and does the job well. Motor oil does not have the solvent properties of CLP. It will do little to nothing for cleaning. I can't imagine it comes anywhere close to the preservative properties of CLP, either. Will it "get er done" as far as lubrication? I'm sure it will. However, if you're really pinching pennies and want to check off ALL the boxes - nothing will beat Breakfree CLP. If motor oil were just as good, if not better - we'd all be using it.. believe me.
@@Erin-bd6jg “Boomer shit there”? Are you complimenting me by saying I sound as smart as the last generation to get a real education from public schools? Or trying to insult me by comparing me to a great generation of guys? I don’t need CLP to clean and oil is a lubricant and protectant. Seals out moisture in engines by design. I reckon the guys who advised using the light motor oil were older and it works, and just like the crap the Army gave us a dab will do ya, so go ahead and soak it. Break free is not the best CLP either and not the one our armory stocked. The real stuff has Teflon in it to enhance lubrication. I know you thought you were calling me retarded but so far it’s been working out great, just like other oils the synthetic oil holds the dirty making it possibly a good cleaner too. If you want a light coat of an oil that dries on and seals out moisture consider RemOil. I might add some MMO to my quart of synthetic sporting rifle oil.
My Dad was a believer in mmo in the fuel tank to keep fuel system clean, valves clean, upper cylinders lubed, piston rings lubed and cleaned. This was in the 1960's.
I am an advanced emissions specialist. I bought from auction an 04 grand am probably never had its oil changed burnt on dipstick 64kmi failed smog. Eng making noise missfiring put mmo in oil a whole quart and in the fuel 16oz fiquered cats were already bad. After running, driving for an hour eng was running much better. Oil change, soak exhaust in dishsoap overnight to try to clean cats. Well it all worked couple more days of driving the m.i.l went off by itself and passed smog... Love this stuff
I didn't know what the oil was used for before until recently and glad to find out more about it and how much to use. Thanks for sharing this information with us all and I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas.
I've been buying Marvel by the gallon since they first came out with the gallon sized, plastic jug. Can't remember exactly when that was? But I've been using it personally since 1969' in everything I own that uses gas and oil. Before each fill-up at the gas station, I always pout-in the appropriate amount of MMO BEFORE I fill it with gas. And on occasion, I'll add a fuel system cleaner at the same time I add my MMO. And I've never had any related vehicle or equipment problems doing this all these years. My truck holds 6.5 qts of oil, and when I service my truck I always put in about half-a-quart of MMO with the additional 6-qts of oil. Pouring most of the MMO directly into the oil filter and filling it to the brim before screwing it back on. Was taught this by an old-timer mechanic, of which NOW I'm also an OLD, retired - old-timer mechanic. Used and suggested it's use when I was a full-time mechanic to all my customers too. Just buy it and know that it's going to help keep things running smooth and trouble free for many, many years to come. Selah
@ namrednop-- I also like to add Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas at the gas station before I pump the gas, so it gets mixed well. I use 4 ounces of MMO for every 10 gallons of gas at every fill up. I have saved a lot of empty MMO quart bottles, and refill them with 4 to 6 ounces and keep 3 of them in a box in my trunk, so they are ready to use when I need gas. I only buy the quart bottles of MMO at Walmart, and they sell for $3.88. They are much easier to handle compared to the gallon jug, plus the quart size has the 4 ounce measurements embossed on it. Four quarts of MMO at Walmart cost $15.52, which is a gallon. The gallon size costs $15.87, and is more expensive per ounce than the quart bottle.
@@franknew9001 - You sound like we're a lot alike. I too have several of the smaller, quart sized bottles . But I fill them up from the gallon sized jugs I have, and I keep them in my Truck for when the need arises. Yeah, it can be a bit messy if you're not careful. And MMO has a very distinct smell to it too, especially if it gets on your hands. But I've got my tactics down pat after all these years. I'm the type of guy that will plan ahead and look for the absolute best deal I can find way ahead of time, on most anything. And since I've retired, I don't drive but about 3,000-3,200 miles year (only having to change my oil in my Truck once a year), so I don't really burn all that much fuel these days, thus I don't have to use all that much MMO anymore. Actually, I probably use more in my Gravely, Zero-Turn Lawn Mowers gas tank these days than I do in my Truck, as I mow my yard every week. It's gas tank holds 3-gals, and I can mow my 1/3 acre yard 6 times before I have to fill it once again. And I also use it in my Honda VersAttach , 4-stroke 35.8ccc weed eater. But that thing is really good on gas too. And it only holds a 1/4 gal. And that'll get me through 3, whole yard, weed eating events before I have to refill it once again, with MMO premixed in my 1.25 gal gas jug that I use to fill it with. Nothing but Ethanol FREE gas goes in any of my equipment. But I also add in some Sta-Bil to everything that runs gas. I don't own any 2-stroke stuff anymore. And am now looking at a few, battery powered yard tools (like a weed eater & blower) that are way lighter than that heavy, Honda VersAttach is. The older I get the heavier it gets? Funny how that works, huh? :-) Now, talking about price of MMO ... About 5-6 yrs ago I was running a little low on my MMO stash (down to a gallon or so) so I started looking for the best deal I could find. And believe it or not, but it WAS at Walmart, lol. I bought a case of 4-gallon jugs of MMO for $49.00 back then. Can't find it that cheap now though. And with what I already had in-stock when I purchased that 4-gal case, I still have 2.5 gals left. Plus several, refilled quart sized bottles ready to go when need be. So I'm set for a while on my MMO stash!
@ namrednop--- Buying 4 gallons of MMO for $49.00 was a bargain. Of course I am old enough to remember that when I got my driver's license in 1970, gas was 29 cents a gallon. :) I wish I could find ethanol free gas here in Maryland, especially for my 14 year old Sears Craftsman lawn mower. At this rate, my lawn mower will last longer than Sears will. I also look for a bargain and buy in bulk when there is a good deal on things I want. The last time I was in Walmart, I bought all 7 quart bottles of MMO that were on the shelf. That will last me quite awhile. I only drive about 5,500 miles a year in my 2002 Lincoln Town Car that I have had since 2007. And that includes a yearly trip from Maryland to Florida and back. I have always kept track of my highway miles per gallon, and in the 4 years that I have been using MMO at every fill up, my mpg has increased at least an extra 1.5 to 2 mpg. On each one way 815 mile trip, I am using about $1.50 in MMO, but 2 fewer gallons of gas. When I tell people that I am actually saving money using MMO, they don't understand until I explain this.
@@franknew9001 - I can remember when gas was 32 cents a gallon, because that was the price the first time I had to pay for it for my own vehicle back in 1969', which was a 1963' Chevy Impala SS. White w/red interior, with a 4-sp Hurst Shifter. The original 327 cu blew-up just a few days after I'd bought the thing in 1968 before I was even old enough to drive. Dropped a 1969' 350 cu/350 hp engine that was a special order out of a 1969' Nova SS that got cut in half right behind the drivers seat, but from there forward it hardly even had a scratch on it? ... and that big ole car would fly then! Won a lot of $$$$ street racing that one. Even raced against a City Police Car that was supposed to be the fastest one in their fleet, and I busted him BADLY from stop light to stop light one night, racing down the main drag in the City where I live here in NC. Now that was some bragging rights right there for a 16 yr old kid, lol. Plus I took $50.00 of his hard, earned $$$$ in the process. Hee hee hee - Must have been the MMO, huh? Ahhhahahahaha Take that trip from Maryland to Florida away, and you don't drive much more than I do a year. Now-a-days these youngen's out here have way too many choices when it comes to what should you add to your gas and oil - confuses them terribly. But back in the day there were less choices, so it made it easier on us two to make a choice and go with it to see how well it would perform. And back in the 80's I owned an Auto Parts Store which then, I could buy chemicals, like MMO, really cheap. And I think I've probably tried them all at one point or another while street racing, legal drag racing, circle track racing (asphalt) and 5 yrs racing in Nascar as a car owner. Man, if I still had all that $$$$ I'd spent on racing over the years I'd be a Million Aire! But I spent it as fast as I was making it back then, under the guise of having FUN! And "you won't regret it, just do it, because you won't live forever and tomorrow might not ever come." And 40 yrs later, I'm still here and now broke ... Oh well! At least I still have my health! Cough, Cough! Ha! :-)
@ namrednop-- Your first car was a lot more exciting than my first car, which was my dad's hand me down. It was a green 4 door 1962 Oldsmobile 88. At least it was somewhat fast and had A/C.I drove it for 2 years until the transmission went out.. In 1972, I paid $250 for a 1957 Chevy 2 door sedan. It was the best investment in a car that I ever made. I drove it for over 20 years as a second car, and sold it in the mid 1990's for a lot more than I paid for it. The first Nascar race that I went to was the Firecracker 400 on July 4, 1984 at Daytona International Speedway. Richard Petty won his 200th and final win in Nascar. Since you are a former Nascar car owner, you probably live in near Charlotte, or a northern suberb of Charlotte. Back in 2010, my brother and I stayed in northern Charlotte for several days. The first day was spent at the newly opened Nascar Hall of Fame. The next night we went to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord to see the truck race which Kyle (Rowdy) Busch won. The next night we went to the Nascar all star race that Kurt Busch won. The next day we went to Michael Waltrip's shop in what I think iwas Mooresville? I parked my car in front of his shop and took a few pictures. The next day we continued north on Route 77 and stopped in Mt. Airy, which is the town that Andy Griffith grew up in. It was fun seeing the old cop car parked in front of the old police station. My house in Florida is in Ormond Beach, which is about 10 miles from the Daytona Speedway. In 2008 or 2009, my cousin and I want to the Daytona Speedway in early January for fan appreciation day. The Nascar drivers were testing out their new cars at the track. After the testing was over, you could pay a fee and they would drive you around the track at a high rate of speed for several laps. With the turns banked at 31 degrees, you can sure feel the g forces in the 4 turns. We had so much fun that we did it several times. I can remember my cousin Tom saying that was one thing he could cross off of his bucket list. Tom was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer in 2010 at the age of 51.
Eric I just shared your video and your email on this company’s website for a review portion. I hope they contact you and send you some products. 73. I’m not even into fixing cars but I still enjoy watching your videos. Good info.
My first car was a ‘83 Old Regency 98, 4 barrel carb and I used this all the time, use to change my own oil in the the street in NYC. Never heard anything bad about this and yes ran it in fuel as well. Nice vid! I’m 55 yrs old and those who are 30’s don’t know about this product. @@creeplife2802 Marvel's great for freeing up the injectors. Nice hot soak. Also Seafoam. Really breaks up the carbon on the pistons. Did mine 3x over 3 weeks and man she run like new. They just get so carboned up.
I've been watching you CB related videos for about a year or so now and I agree with everything you've said. I was pleasantly surprised to see this video. I've been using MMO for years and I follow the directions. I've never had an issue with it ever. I personally don't use it in the crankcase, but do use it in the gas. You are absolutely correct that the tiny amount isn't going to hurt the O2 sensors or converters. I buy it at Walmart by the gallon. True story. I purchased a 2005 Dodge Ram with the 4.7 liter engine. It had 100,000 miles on it and ran fine. Three days after I bought it the CEL came on and it was obvious that it was down a cylinder. I pinpointed the which cylinder and checked the spark plug, coil pack and injector. All were good, but I swapped all with the adjacent cylinder just to be certain. Same result, a dead cylinder. Checked wiring, injector pulse etc. So at this point I figured it's either a stuck valve or something with the valve train. I poured a 32 oz bottle of MMO into the oil, ran a bottle of sea foam through the intake and then took it out and mashed it from 0-60 several times. I couldn't believe it, but it unstuck the valve and was running fine. Don't know if it was the seafoam, MMO, mashing the throttle or a combination. I drove it for a week, it was still running fine so I did an oil change and sold it. I'm into auto mechanics, CB radios, amps, antennas and Coast to coast AM too. I really liked it when John B Wells was on many years ago. Also really like George Knapp and of course Art Bell. George Noorey just isn't the same to me. Really enjoy your channel.
Snorey always interviews everyone like he's trying to become their best friend. He's so annoying I stopped listening completely. Wells was great, I'm sure they got rid of him because he was making Snorey look so bad in comparison.
About a year ago my 2010 Jeep Liberty 150k miles was giving me all sorts of ticks and light pings, as well as a squeaky pulley noise. I started using 8oz in the crank case and 8 oz with every fill up. One other thing I did was add Lube Guard to the transmission for a torque converter shudder I was getting. A year later this thing runs so smooth and quiet you can barely hear anything driving down the street. My MPG has improved by about 2-5 mpg on average overall. I'm a MMO and Lube Guard believer.
@@FarpointFarms If I use it in my oil, do I have to use a higher viscosity oil? I have the impression that it dilutes the oil. I live in FL so its pretty hot all year, the car has 112K miles. I'm not going to lie, I still use 5w-30 as recommended by the OEM. Right now the car is burning oil. I can't see white smoke coming out of the tailpipe though. Thanks in advance.
I’ve used this stuff a lot , especially in my 2001 Ram 1500 that has recently been converted to a 1 Ton 💪🏼🇺🇸.. 19 years old and still purring like a champ
MMO does have a decent amount of alcohol in it as well, once the motor has started to warm out a lot of that will flash very quickly in the crankcase leaving behind a slightly thicker base plus the space to top of with normal oil.
@ Last Hope-- Your comment makes a lot of sense to me. I have a 2002 Chevy delivery truck with 147k miles, and it uses about a quart of oil per month. About a month after a oil change, and it is a quart low on oil, I add a quart of MMO to the crankcase. After adding the MMO, the oil is a quart low after only 2 weeks. I guess when the oil gets hot, some of the MMO is evaporating or burning off.
I read what a chemist posted on another well known oil website and he claimed this is not the case. Once the lighter MMO fully mixes in and chemically bonds into the crankcase oil it will not flash off. The overall oil will be slightly thinner, though.
Unfortunately it is no longer $3.99. At my local Meijer here in Michigan it used to be $4.50 per 32 ounce bottle but it now is $7.50 for unknown reasons.
Yeah , $5 was the norm for sometime, and these days MMO at $7+ ... Squeeze ever cent out of buyers ... Let's see the data in how much MMO sells as we continue raising its price ..
I add a little Marvel into the gas in my snowblower, especially the first tank of the season. With the ethanol in the gas I sometimes have an issue with the carb even after treating with marine Stabil before off season storage. It almost always clears out the carb in the first use.
@ RedArrow73-- I had never heard of Buc-ee's until just recently, as I saw on the news that they are building one in nearby Daytona Beach, Florida. They said Buc-ee's will have 120 gas pumps, and a huge convenience store. It is good to know they will have ethanol free gas. Do you know if their gas is top tier?
I use MMO for maintaining Maglight flashlights. Take off the head and tailcaps and clean the threads with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs. Lightly coat all threaded surfaces with MMO and clean cotton swabs. I've done this about once per year for almost 30 years. Works well. Don't forget to clean and lube the inside threads as well. Great video!
@@FarpointFarms After watching your video I did my annual maintenance on my Solitaire, 2-AAA, 2-AA, and 2-C. As per my description of procedure, it took about 40 minutes for the 4 flashlights. MMO is great oil!
I've used both lucas and marvels mystery oil. And I do believe with marvels does improve on mpg. And in my local walmart they have moved it from the bottem to the top shelf.
@ David Jacobs-- I have been buying MMO since 2016 at multiple Walmarts in Maryland and Florida, and have never been carded. I did read that you have to be at least 18 to buy MMO, as you can get high if you sniff it too long. If you are near 50 and they are still carding you, I would take it as a compliment. Walmart has the best price for the quart (32oz) size of MMO that I have seen at $3.88. The last time that I was in Auto Zone and Advance Auto, the quart size of MMO was $6.99, which is almost double the price.
@@franknew9001 Same here, bought a gallon at Walmart 2 weeks ago & Guy comes running over to card me? Dude, I'm 62! Been using MMO since 14yo when I started racing boats and as you might of guessed, I use it for Everything!
@ Nella well-- I have been buying MMO at Walmart for quite a few years, and have never been carded. I am 68, so I guess I never will get carded. I also use MMO in anything that uses gas, and in the crankcase of my car and truck. I have always bought the quart (32oz) size of MMO at Walmart, but have usually checked the price of the gallon size. For about a year, I have not been able to find the gallon at multiple Walmarts in Maryland and Florida. I thought maybe Walmart stopped selling it.
Good "myth buster" video! I use MMO in my vehicles fuel tanks & in my lawn equipment gas & oil. A!so have a small 4oz bottle of it for my pneumatic air tools. Did a lot of reading up on it 8-10 yrs ago & started using it, just became part of my regular maintenance like non-ethanol gas & Sta-bil. I have yet to run gas out of any yard machines before storing & they start on 1st/2nd pull after 6 mos of storage. Also when storing your mowers & snowblowers, pull the spark plug & put 1oz of MMO in cylinder & slowly pull cord, it lubricates the piston walls & keeps from rusting during storage. Great video!!!
@ Buffalo Blue-- I put some MMO in the gas and oil of my lawn mower, but have not yet put MMO in the cylinder when storing it during the winter. If you put 1 ounce of MMO in the cylinder, I would think it would be hard to start in the spring unless you removed the MMO from the cylinder. My question is, when you first start the mower after sitting for 5 months, do you remove the spark plug and pull hard on the cord multiple times, or maybe tilt the mower to remove the MMO from the cylinder?
Once applied to cylinder, slowly pulling cord to spread it onto cylinder walls excess will disperse past piston @ that time. At worst in spring a smidge of white smoke from the MMO burning off, never had an issue.
Just FYI an easy way to do this w/o making a mess is if you can get a plastic syringe from like medicine bottles, has rubber stopper inside. Came from one of my kids pharmacy meds, works perfectly for this application. Fits in MMO bottle & into cylinder head opening.
I use this every time at the pump. 88k miles on a 2017 Ford Focus SE 2.0 and not one problem with the engine. Now... if only I could put this stuff into the transmission...
I am only worried about it being used in GDI engines because of the much higher PSI in the modern injectors. I would hope it still helps enough to not cause an issue but it appears to be more viscous than gasoline. Diluted in the tank it is probably not a concern but I still worry.
Qui Trapnell • You're over worrying. This oil has been around since the late 20's. If AM not mistaken.. Used in the fuel system on radial aircraft engines. As a cleaner and a lubricator In other words. It's preventive maintenance for any kind of engine out there
I got a 2014 Chevy Cruze and before that I had a 2007 Toyota yaris and And I've put Marvel mystery oil every other fill up for thousands of miles and have never had O2 sensor Catalytic converter Fail on me
I use it in every tank of now golden gasoline. I use a quart in the 8 quart sump nearly every oil change. My engine calls for 0-20 weight, so I use 5/30 and marvel. It’s a good slow engine cleaner. 232k on my 14 Silverado, all hauling 4-5k lbs. it’s a great product.
2012 hemi 1500 ram..engine seemed to be a little loud..26 gallon tank.. put in approximately 13 oz..smooth sounds..now i believe..i use it every tank fill..this truck is payment free..like to have it till death do us apart.. 😂
Well said, ive been using marvel in my 2001 audi a4 b6 2.0 petrol for 7 years now and run marvel mystery oil in the engine oil aswell as the gas. Car was on the dyno last week made 10bhp over stock from new. So definitely the marvel is keeping things ticking over nicely. I have one question though. Does the MMO protect against the E10 ethanol rotting the rubber fuel lines and collecting water in the fuel tank.
I agree. I've actually used a bottle of MMO with a quarter tank of gas and has been working great. This was in a newer car with double fuel pumps on the engine and double cats. 2012 audi a8 4.2L. I had a Check engine light before using MMO with bank one lean and after a bottle of this the code is gone and its been about 1k miles since.
This my first time that i have found your platform. I thank you for confirming my own thoughts on using it as preventive maintenance. In my case. I started using just a few drops of Marvel Mystery oil thru the dipstick while i had the engine running. Or ounces like you recommended. To maintain not only the top of the cylinders. To unclog the pistón rings. Free up the valves. Also to lubricate the fuel pump in the fuel system. Thank you 👍👍.
Thanks a lot for sharing this. Online info can be overwhelming but I trust you know what you're talking about. Never used it before but will try it to see if it will fix some slightly rough idle my HHR is experiencing.
I do the same with my 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 and my 15 Dodge dart 2.4 both have over 250k and have not had any adverse affects. Also I use it in my atv and all other engines like generator and mower and snow blower and so on
My 2011 f150 5.0 is just about at 100,000 miles. I dump in heat during the winter and occasionally use some seafoam. I'm good with maintenance and I've sent in oil samples. I think I'm going to start using this in the fuel and might add some before an oil change next time.
I have used this for about 15 years and it works great. I have one car that is a 2010 Dodge Challenger and it quiets my lifter sound, so I use it after every oil change.
Ive replaced 1 of the 5 quarts in my 03 impala 176k miles with marvel, no issues. I think mmo also has a lot of anti wear additives like zincs. Even if it thinned a little bit the anti wear additives will help
I have a 97 Ford Ranger that I religiously replace one full quart of my normal engine oil with Marvel Mystery Oil. I did this same mix on my S-10 with a 4.3 and finally ended up pulling the engine and selling it since I was junkies out the rusty body!!! That engine is still running in my buddy's truck , uses NO oil in 3000 miles and all total has over 350000 miles on it. Marvel Mystery oil has well proven its worth with me....
I used this in my diesel ford connect, when I bought it it sounded like a rough clattery diesel engine not quiet . I put it in my oil and my fuel system and my turbo whistles like a banshee picks up low down, although blocking off the egr helps .my emissions are ultra low, I did have a economy map done to... More power less fuel, less emissions.
I must add though both these vehicles started to drop oil on the driveway a year after using it, both at the same time, so I'm not sure it is friendly to oil seals and gaskets.
I recently put 4oz in fuel and about 8oz in a ticking 5.3 vortec with 103k miles. Within 200 miles the ticking has gone away and a smooth running/sounding engine has returned!
I got a ford fusion 2018 hybrid I add Lucas fuel to my fuel with great results .. I drive uber and have 125k miles on my 4 year old car she runs fine but was wondering would I be fine just using a cpl oz in my oil every oil change to find any tarnish will that effect the turbo or the cam ? being a 2.0l just add like 4 to 6 oz?
I have used it for everything from guns to a top end lubricant for air cooled engines. However, I had a problem with it in GDI engine. 10 gals/ 4oz ratio caused erratic idle. And a miss. I had to run two tanks through to remedy the miss and up and down searching idle. Very weird. Maybe not good for direct injection?
I use Marine outboard two cycle TCW3 rated oil at 1oz per five gallons of gasoline for years. It burns ash less and works great. Some modern cars burn a quart of motor oil every few thousand miles or less and don’t harm sensors or converters so how can 2oz of MMO per ten gallons of gas harm anything. Use MMO no problems. I’ve been using MMO over fifty five years and never had oxygen sensors or converter problems.
It designed in ww2 so engine keeps operating when shot full of bullets. Then the 90 weight oil increases fuel economy and reducing friction in oil .extreme benefits for small amount .
In one word..... yes. at the end of the day engines haven't changed much. the materials they are built with has changed a little bit. all the junk that is bolted to them has somewhat. the engines themselves have not changed, not really.
i have a 2004 gmc envoy with 300,000 miles and put almost a full quart of MMO in the old 2,000 mile oil and now my engine vibrates when driving highway speeds.. i put about 200 miles on the engine and it still vibrates.
@FarpointFarms I'm not for sure but I think the MMO was playing havoc with a lifter..There is a lot less vibration today..My vacuum gauge test & fuel pressure tested ok.. I did look at my transmission mount today and is ok.. I found a loose gas tank heat shield and fixed that..I put motor mounts 4 yrs. ago and I will check that out tomorrow along with the u joints..I'm probably due for a transmission service as well..Thanks I will dig a little deeper in it tomorrow.
Idk if 2006 is modern..? But for a Toyota Sequoia, Marvel's Mystery oil works well in the gas tank & crank case! In fact the manufacturer manual recommends it.
When mmo burns it produces a soft carbon like 2 stroke oil that is one of the reasons it dies not plug anything up it in fact unplug most things also acts as a lead substitute in older engines
I’ve had Seafoam free stuck lifters 85 F150 302 fuel injection, and Rislone 82 Le Sabre 307 4 barrel, but never tried Marvel for that job since, thankfully, it’s only happened to me twice. Haven’t had any issues in anything newer. It’s weird that it did happen at all in that F150, I ran good oil in it and maintained it well.
If anyone has a rough idling 1 cylinder engine, this time of year especially like a snow blower, MMO works great for cleaning carbs too. It's not an overnight miracle, but like this fella says, MMO has worked for me for over 30 plus years. Put some in your gas every time you fill up, and you literally can see, and hear the results. Works like SEAFOAM, at a third of the price!!
Works especially well for "winterizing" garden/marine equipment, run it through then shut off so everything is coated in it, the next spring it will start right up no issues and puff out some cool candy cane smelling clouds the first start up!
Cleans like sea foam or mabe better seen it on test. Better price to boot. I only get sea foam for my small engines since it stabilizes fuel. I still put a little mmo in the mix. Mmo exclusively in my vehicles though.
I've used MMO in my cars for 40 yrs no prob till I got a2006 caravan 3.8 sxt. Put the 4oz in my fill up and the engine light came on. Turned off by the next fill.
Can this be used as a piston soak to free up stuck or clogged oil control rings while the Pistons are still in the engine block through the spark plug hole
Use in every oil change and add to gas always get 300,000 plus out of my vehicles with out any major engine work also add Lucas oil stabilizer with oil change
I happened to buy a vehicle that was ran over oil changes oil was dark brown after a new oil change and used marvel mystery in oil ran vehicle 2000 miles got oil change now on the dipstick reads all clean
I was using 0 8 litres of oil per 1000km in my 2016 Peugoet 208 pure tech VTI engine until l started using MMO in the fuel. Had low compression in no3 cylinder. Now the oil consumption has dropped to virtually zero. Explain that someone please? It certainly is a marvel to me.
@@tonbomohm1 Add 4 ounces to your gas tank every fill up. Add an ounce per quart of oil for the next 2 oil changes. Then a half a quart on the 3rd oil change and on the 4th oil change a full quart. I did it that way so as to gradually clean the engine and not clog anything up.
Seafoam is built strictly for water craft, not cars/trucks. I made the mistake of putting seafoam in my 1990 Celica a few years back and not long after that my head gasket fried up and now I have to replace the engine in my car.
My engine can only hold 5.2L of oil. Plan to just add 200ml into my oil change and add it every fuel fill up. Do like your marvel mystery oil reviews as I can't find many living in the UK
@Farpoint Farms hi I managed to get my hands on 4x32oz bottles off of ebay. I'm almost at my next oil change mark. It holds 5.2L of oil. My car runs on 5w-30. Unsure if adding 1.2L of marvel mystery oil will thin out my oil too much or will it be fine? Or should I go for a 5w-40 ? It's a bmw 320d touring 2012. Sorry for using litres as I don't understand the American figures. Any more updates on the new marvel mystery synthetic oil? Saw your video already but wondering if you've tested it yourself yet? BTW thanks for the reply I really appreciate it
I just bought a 04 Silverado and the engine was really dirty from the previous owners. Would i be ok to put a bit in it without clogging out the oil pump or the pick up tube mesh? TIA
Run it a little at a time. To use a full bottle for that engine purge effect may in fact clog the screen. You best bet is 1/3rd a can at 1500 miles oil changes for the next 6K. After that it should be good to go.
I run my tundra on ethanol and have noticed that it’s the only major fuel additive that limits the amount of blending to 30/70 E/G, never understood why it’s the only one to limit and that specific.
What do you mean it "limits the amount of blending"? So you run an ethanol blend like E30 or E40 and use Marvel Mystery oil and it doesn't blend well with ethanol a bit confused as I run a blend of ethanol usually around E30 and have used MMO in the past? Thx
It is composed primarily of petroleum distillates, including mineral oil (60%), mineral spirits (10-30%), tricresyl phosphate (an antiwear and extreme pressure additive in lubricants, 0.1-1.0%), ortho-dichlorobenzene (a softening and removing agent for carbon-based contamination on metal surfaces, 0.1-1.0%), and para-dichlorobenzene (a precursor used in the production of chemically and thermally resistant polymers,
So should it be used more as an oil stabilizer or engine cleaning applications?
@@MattyLight30 Both or either. Use it in any 4 cycle engine you have - for any reason or for no reason. It improves gas mileage (slightly) and improves performance (noticeably) and protects the engine in the long run (for 62 years of my experience with it)
I was reading down in the comments and someone says that MMO contains alcohol. What are your thoughts on that?
Pretty much everything he has said is true to my experiences. This stuff works as a cleaner and a preventative. It's awesome!
Couldn't agree more!
We drove that VW bug for a couple of decades even to Henderson,NC on a couple of occasions to visit my Mother's Mother (Grandma)
MMO is fantastic and I couldn't agree with you more about the product and I use it as well in my 1994 Chevy Silverado extra cab truck.🇺🇸✌️
That's how die hard fans of this stuff are born. The lifter tick issues is one that Marvel is great at fixing.
@@FarpointFarmsA few years ago I had borrowed my parents 99 Yukon Denali and noticed a tick nose driving so I pulled over and threw in some of the marvel mystery oil that they had in the back container in the back end and the lifter tick went away immediately
In the Marines we used to use Marvel to clean and lubricate our rifles and weapons. It worked great and reduced cleaning time in the field.
It does make a great light lubricant for stuff like that.
That’s brilliant! Army issued ya CLP and that’s what we used. I have started using synthetic 0w-20 and it works at least as good as CLP
@@Erin-bd6jg Have you tested motor oil against breakfree CLP? If not your statement is pointless.
That is a real testament to what it can do
Hi did you remove exhaust/cat n soak in warm water with dish soap in container it fit in? Curious about this.
I didn't know what the oil was used for before until recently and glad to find out more about it and how much to use. Thanks for sharing this information with us all and I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas.
I use a few ounces in the crankcase, and half a bottle in my gas.
If you do it constantly,it keeps things moving.
Now, talking about price of MMO ...
I wish I could find ethanol free gas here in Maryland, especially for my 14 year old Sears Craftsman lawn mower.
Ahhhahahahaha
Take that trip from Maryland to Florida away, and you don't drive much more than I do a year.

I add it twice a year to my crank case and fuel tank! This is good stuff.
You must get amazing milage to only have to put on fuel twice a year
About a year ago my 2010 Jeep Liberty 150k miles was giving me all sorts of ticks and light pings, as well as a squeaky pulley noise.
Welcome to the MMO club, that stuff works wonders. Glad it helped you out
I remember seeing the Marvel building just down the road from the Lifesavers building in Port Chester, NY.
Is that why mmo smells minty?
I went to tech school for auto service. On the very first day the very first thing the teacher did was write "M.M.O." on the chalk board.
If you have doubts about something, you can always use less of the recommended amount to see how your vehicle reacts to it.

@@FarpointFarms If I use it in my oil, do I have to use a higher viscosity oil? I have the impression that it dilutes the oil. I live in FL so its pretty hot all year, the car has 112K miles. I have used MMO for years and have had no problems. I use it on all my cars and trucks.
MMO does have a decent amount of alcohol in it as well, once the motor has started to warm out a lot of that will flash very quickly in the crankcase leaving behind a slightly thicker base plus the space to top of with normal oil.
I had no idea.
I've used marvel mystery oil since the '60s and I've used it in almost any kind of car that you can think of. This stuff really works.
It certainly has stood the test of time!
Very informative video. I'm going to start using Marvel Mystery Oil because of your good experience with the product

@@FarpointFarms what snake oil? I’m 73 best thing I’ve discovered, follow instruction on bottle.
I add a little Marvel into the gas in my snowblower, especially the first tank of the season. With the ethanol in the gas I sometimes have an issue with the carb even after treating with marine Stabil before off season storage. It almost always clears out the carb in the first use.
Buc-ee's has E-Free gas.
Thank you Erik this was a very useful video. I've always known Marvel to be a good product.
It really is, and I don't think they advertise so I figured I help get the word out.
Thanks for the great tip, never thought of doing that.
I get a few % better when I use it, but I don't know why it works so well for that.
@@franknew9001 I made the purchase at the Super center at Bay pines,Fl. and the 1st time I got carded.
I add 1/2 quart to my gallon of fresh oil every oil change. Works great. I mix it in my top off oil too about 4oz per quart.
I use it in my 01 f150 .. I cant notice any MPG gain but it did smoothe out the idle .. and it's more responsive..
I can't keep my foot out of it or I would save fuel. More power smoother engine. '13 Mercedes Sprinter.
I use it on my power equipment as well. The stuff just works!
@ Buffalo Blue-- Thanks for your reply. I will try this next month when I put the mower in storage for the winter.
I read on another feed 2 ounces in Transmission every 30k service 198,000 plus miles still operates like new (on Toyota Sienna)
Trans fluid is very high detergent. Some people use trans fluid as an engine flush and ring conditioner same as MMO.
MMO user myself for years. Enjoyed the video. Thanks 😊👍
Put it in my 2011 Ford Fiesta SES and it made her run better and smoother. (I did both oil and gas)
I am only worried about it being used in GDI engines because of the much higher PSI in the modern injectors. I would hope it still helps enough to not cause an issue but it appears to be more viscous than gasoline. Diluted in the tank it is probably not a concern but I still worry.
No worries.
Qui Trapnell • You're over worrying. This oil has been around since the late 20's. If AM not mistaken.. Used in the fuel system on radial aircraft engines. As a cleaner and a lubricator
In other words.
Glad to hear it!
Must have cleaned up the injectors.
I fill my tank with fuel MMO never had problems. When it comes to oil changes I fill my oil filter with MMO.
Just the filter?
What year/brand of car(s)?
Good idea!
Brilliant.
I do the same with my 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 and my 15 Dodge dart 2.4 both have over 250k and have not had any adverse affects. Also I use it in my atv and all other engines like generator and mower and snow blower and so on
That’s a clever idea, I’m stealing it!
Thanks for sharing! I'm a long time user as well. The stuff works!
I use mmo in my 14 hemi ram and avg. 23 mpg per 100 mile drive in adverse weather. Looking to start adding to crankcase.
Ive replaced 1 of the 5 quarts in my 03 impala 176k miles with marvel, no issues. I think mmo also has a lot of anti wear additives like zincs. Even if it thinned a little bit the anti wear additives will help
Back in the 80s.....my dad would put a qt of transmission fluid in the Gass tank. Probably the same results
maybe, I guess if it worked for him, why not. I am not sure if I would try that with modern cars- they are just not built the same
Does this also work safely in a fuel system with high pressure deisel fuel systems aswell?
Yes, certainly!
What do you think to use that product in a Lexus lx 570 2008.
100% sure!
Thanks for info Brother.
Also using it like you Derek as 6 oz of top oil and works great!
Good to know!
That mileage speaks wonders on how well it does work.
Old Harley's love mmo...plus I kept a 5 horse Briggs lawn mower running for over 25 years on mmo.
It is some great stuff!
Engine sound like new 168k miles on clock. I also put it in my Chevrolet lacetti with noisy hydraulic lifters , silenced them in 2 hours of running.
What a great point of how well it works.
What did you end up doing? I just bought a new Camry hybrid and want to maintain it the best I can.
I trust your opinion. Thanks.
Thank you, I run it through my cars and have had great luck.
Been using mmo over 25 yrs no problems 4oz in 1o gallons keep valves injectors clean
Glad to hear that long term is is working well for you- There is a good reason this stuff has been around for a very long time
I have used it for everything from guns to a top end lubricant for air cooled engines. However, I had a problem with it in GDI engine. 10 gals/ 4oz ratio caused erratic idle. And a miss. I had to run two tanks through to remedy the miss and up and down searching idle. Very weird. Maybe not good for direct injection?
That is interesting to know- I would not have expected that with the idol.
You make a great point
I used that in oilers for compressed air starters
In one word..... yes. at the end of the day engines haven't changed much. the materials they are built with has changed a little bit. all the junk that is bolted to them has somewhat. the engines themselves have not changed, not really.
Great video... subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
i have a 2004 gmc envoy with 300,000 miles and put almost a full quart of MMO in the old 2,000 mile oil and now my engine vibrates when driving highway speeds.. i put about 200 miles on the engine and it still vibrates.
Sounds unrelated. Sounds like a motor mount failure.
When mmo burns it produces a soft carbon like 2 stroke oil that is one of the reasons it dies not plug anything up it in fact unplug most things also acts as a lead substitute in older engines
good point
I will try in my LS4 Impala SS, perhaps it will get rid of lifter tick. (lifter tick is mainly present during winter starting)
Thanks for the info!
Right on.
Can this be used as a piston soak to free up stuck or clogged oil control rings while the Pistons are still in the engine block through the spark plug hole
Oh yes. I've done that very thing. Worked well too!
Use in every oil change and add to gas always get 300,000 plus out of my vehicles with out any major engine work also add Lucas oil stabilizer with oil change
I've heard good things about Lucas, but I've only ever used their transmission additive.
It freed up the stuck rings. That's the kind of stuff it does!
@@FarpointFarms My 08 Toyota Camry burns about half a qt a week 😂. How would I go about using MMO to maybe help with this issue?
@@tonbomohm1 Add 4 ounces to your gas tank every fill up. Add an ounce per quart of oil for the next 2 oil changes. Then a half a quart on the 3rd oil change and on the 4th oil change a full quart. I did it that way so as to gradually clean the engine and not clog anything up.
I've used tons of MMO on several cars and even used half a bottle it literally does no damage and on the contrary it cleans the motor out more.
Hey, Eric... what about Seafoam? Engine/crankcase, fuel additive, intake & injection cleaning solution?
Seafoam is built strictly for water craft, not cars/trucks. I made the mistake of putting seafoam in my 1990 Celica a few years back and not long after that my head gasket fried up and now I have to replace the engine in my car.
@@northwestmechanic8991 I had my head gasket erode thanks to Seafoam as well... I've just never heard of it being solely for watercraft lol

Can you use in Transmission. With. Trans Fluid
Great stuff, been using it in my fuel and crankcase for years,!! Very effective lubricant
Agreed!
Does MMO help keep injectors and combustion chambers cleaner?
Yes it does-
been using MMO since 1996, i have 2 cars both have 200,xxx miles still all original parts, a 1999 sienna and 2011 prius I use MMO and seafoam
This stuff really does work wonders-
Hard starting mix in gas any thing over 4 oz to 10 gallons
I believe in mmo in LS motors or any vvt.. even use as penetrating oil.
gas yes. newer diesel maybe not. i use the stuff in my home heating oil tank before fill up.
Good to know! I did not think of using it for heating oil.
My engine can only hold 5.2L of oil. Plan to just add 200ml into my oil change and add it every fuel fill up. Do like your marvel mystery oil reviews as I can't find many living in the UK
I am sorry to hear that you can not find it there. If shipping was cheaper, I would send you some.
BTW thanks for the reply I really appreciate it
I've used it in my oil and gas I've also dumped it down my intake and never had issues
I have no idea. Maybe it doesn't dilute well over those amounts?
What do you mean it "limits the amount of blending"? So you run an ethanol blend like E30 or E40 and use Marvel Mystery oil and it doesn't blend well with ethanol a bit confused as I run a blend of ethanol usually around E30 and have used MMO in the past?
Thx
@@gabeh7373
The bottle says ethanol blends up to 30%.
So you're saying you run a higher blend like E70- E85 in your Tundra
@@gabeh7373
Yes E85.
If the engine oil is full, say 6 quarts, any issue with adding 6 ounces of MMO?
Don't over fill it!! I'd wait until the next oil change to add it in.
