    My soldier station is my daughter. YUP, she is my holder and I am a proud dad of a 9-year-old female who jumps up to do all and any soldiering that needs to be done. X-mas was good to us and we are joining the Trail walk RC club here in Florida. We will be out of sorts because we have a CLOD BUSTER and we know it is not a real trail crawler but it's what we have. She will build the CLOD alongside her dad. I told her that even though we are not bringing a true trail crawler, We will go over the obstacles and maybe through some of them. LOL

      That is very cool! I had a little helpy-helper for a while when mine was younger. I hope she enjoys the trail riding with it, put some sticky grease in the differentials and it will do just fine out there! Doesn't matter what you are trailing with, as long as it puts a smile on your face is all that matters! Good luck in the drawing! Take care and enjoy the week ahead!

    That’s awesome. Way better that then rigging up vice grips and pliers to hold motors and wires at the right angle

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  23 години тому +1

      LOL, yes it is a much better solution! I used to have a couple pairs of pliers with rubber bands on the handles as holders, functional but barely! These are super helpful!

    • @AddamsPlayground

      LOL, it is a super handy tool. It really does help take the frustration out of trying to hold so much all at once and not burn yourself because you are paying more attention to holding everything and not where the hot bits are! LOL! I have bumped a knuckle more than once over the years with the shaft of the iron due to that. It is a super cool setup and you will be happy with it for sure!

    We could use some helping hands around here lol ! I do like the soft tips on the clips .

    • @AddamsPlayground

      The soft jaw tubes are a really nice upgrade on this one! It will keep those annoying jaw marks out of wires, I don't get them in the silicone wires but in the older stuff with the PVC coating it happens often! It is a really nice setup, good luck!

      Thanks Mark, it is a really nice tool and super handy with all sorts of stuff. I use mine all the time, mainly for soldering but have used it to hold bits in place while glues dries and other things. Sorry I could not include you guys but the shipping on things is just silly these days! Take care and have a wonderful week ahead my friend!

    Awesome tool Addam. I'll keep this in mind as soon I need a third and fourth hand for screwing and detail paintings. Soldering'll never gonna be my thing😂.
    The lighted magnifying glass' my favorite. I have a big 80s style one here. And big disqualifies it.
    Have a great weekend

      It is a really handy tool, pun intended, and it is very high quality. The arms don't have any spring back and it just does what it is supposed to do very well! I have used it to hold things while glue sets and other things where you really do need an extra hand with something simple! I have one of the old school magnifying glasses that clamp onto the desk as well, so parting with this is not a big deal, I still have my old one which should last my lifetime in the hobby! Take care and have a wonderful weekend too!

      It really is a super handy tool to have. I love the gripper clamp and how well the arms hold themselves in position without moving. It really sucks when you get something in position and by the time you grab the iron it has all shifted. I don't have that problem with these!

      I understand, it is not a favorite of most folks and dreaded by many. This helping hands station does help take the frustrating part of wrestling things into place and still be able to grab and use the soldering iron! LOL! It is a task that generally requires 3 to 4 hands so these do help out in that aspect a lot. Motivation to do it in the first place, can't help you there! LOL!! Take care and have a great week!

    2025 is the year of finishing projects and completing RCs that are still in the box for me. That includes a fair bit of soldering and I am sure that the family would prefer not having to borrow their hands to hold my wires still while I am trying to solder things up.

    Looks extremely useful! Shame about some of the weird comments. Part of UA-cam I guess. Keep up the good work, find your videos so useful! I've just finished an Optima Mid and 870c box art, turned out great and have helpful tips to share. Really need to find the time myself to put up more videos, time poor with toddlers.....

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 дні тому

      Thanks! It is a really handy tool to have and the soft jaw covers are really nice. I am glad you are enjoying the videos and maybe picked up a few things along the way, that is all I can hope for! I do need to get an Optima Mid myself at some point, the 870c I am not terribly excited about. I think it was not on my want list as a kid so I don't have a strong draw to it. It looks like a cool buggy but more than likely I won't drop that much money to get one.
      Making videos and responding to comments takes up a lot of time, having little ones running around means time is not something you have a lot of and when you do the last thing you want to be doing is more work! My kids are grown and on their own so that frees me up from the dad responsibilities, unless something breaks and then I am called back into action! LOL!

    I would not have known there was such a thing, if not for your review, so thanks. I currently use a table vise with rubber jaws, which barely opens wide enough to hold a motor. That is a great looking soldering station with infinite adjustability . I currently use the typical harbor freight helping hands and it works OK but it always seems your fighting with it’s adjustments and can never really get proper alignment and you’re always left with teeth marks on your battery connectors. I am going back and converting all of my Dean’s connectors on all of my kit builds to IC3 and IC5 as I move to a complete Spektrum smart battery ecosystem. That’s what I would use something like that for.

    Hello Addam, that is nice. Did you know that there is another soldering Jig out there ? It is actually made in the USA. It is called MR JIG. It does cost more, it is made of aluminum and it is made in the USA. It is possible they went out of business because of all of the cheap stuff made in China. Let me know what you think. Thoughts? I only paid $50.00 for my MR JIG.

      I have seen them and it looked great for some things but others it seems quite limited. Sadly it is very hard to make and sell stuff from the US like this with so much outside competition and salary/benefits/regulation demands here. These however are far from cheaply made, I was very impressed with it and think it will last for many years and can be used for more than soldering. I have used mine for holding parts while glue sets and other custom building tasks. so it is not a one man band like the Mr Jig type things are.

    Great review. Unfortunately I can’t solder to save my life (literally) so all I would do is use it for practice and frustration because I am a soldering iron moron.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  3 години тому

      I had the same feeling years ago, more than likely the iron you are trying to use is woefully underpowered and just getting hot enough to melt the solder itself but not able to heat up the wire and other bits to make it flow. Once I got a decent iron it became much easier and less of a struggle. I am not 100% sure but that is usually the culprit in the situation, not a lack of ability on your part but but a lack of ability in the tool. Like trying to run a bulldozer on a Honda Civic motor, it could potentially work a little but won't do real work! I believe in you!

    Hi Addam 👋 Great review of a fantastic product 😊 I myself use a different (but same) type of helping hands for my wooden model ships:) It's so much easier to work on small details like dead eyes, gluing pieces together and a million other things:) It's really a life saving tool when it comes to hobbies 😊
    Since I already have the tool I need, I'm telling you not to include me in this giveaway. (Come to think of it, I didn't tell you about my project either so😂) I just want to say great review and congratulations to the winner:) Take care 😊

      @AddamsPlayground Just go for it if you want to:) Everyone makes mistakes and messes up, but the good thing about wood is that it forgives:) If you mess up, you can always, well 99% of the time, fix it:) It's more difficult with plastic:) But yeah, practice makes you better:)

    This has some nice upgrades from the first one. It appears on the video that the flexible arms are bigger in diameter. If I had one I would use it for basic soldering like installing a new VTA motoring and changing battery connectors on an esc and batteries. As I watched you move tha arms around and demonstrate the lighted magnifying glass, I wondered if it could be used to hold a Tamiya driver's head while you paint it? If you put a screw in the bottom of the head, would it be steady enough to paint? Great video.

      It is a really handy tool, pun intended, and it is very high quality. The arms don't have any spring back and it just does what it is supposed to do very well! As for the painting the drivers head, maybe but you would have to brace on with the others as there would be a little wobble to it using only one arm. The magnifying glass would help too! Good Luck!
