Ronnie Van Zant wrote some great lyrics. This song is so well written that you can literally see the whole story in your mind, it's like a scene in a movie. Memorable, hilariously funny, and easy to sing along with, really doesn't get better than that for rock and roll lyrics.
Yes yes been there. No gun but probably headed for an ass kicking
I love this song!!!!!!!
oh my god there was nothing to compare with southern rock, ever. from an old woman in canada, so loved these guys!
Just in case you've been wondering what the definition of "rock and roll" is, its not the bubble gum garbage you've been hearing on the radio for the past several years, it's THIS!!!!!!
more like last 30+ years since the 90's Rock N Roll (in the name of the label) is just becoming more and more garbage labeling it as Rock and the music is trash. Gimme Three Steps Baby and you'll never see me no more.. Lynyrd Skynyd for Life
Hell F yeah my friend
ROGLMAO WOOOOOOOO HELLLLLL YYYEEEEA!!
This was a band who knew how to ROCK & ROLL.🎸🥁
YES definitely
Rest easy Gary. A huge contributor to the American song book. A founder of southern rock and founding member of the greatest southern rock band of all time.
My heart!
skynard was a fantastic group but i kind of lean toward either zz top or cdb.
Gary playing live in this performance?
TRUE Southern Rockers. Originators of SOUTHERN ROCK. Jacksonville Florida!!!
One more Southern Rock icon gone but never forgotten.
Billy Powell, BEST piano player in the world!....RIP!
I first saw the original Lynyrd Skynyrd lineup open for Black Sabbath winter 1974/1975 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. I was a senior in High School and they were in their twenties. AMAZING .. I’ve followed them ever since
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here
I just recently got into Skynyrd. This version of the band sounds great. Johnny has a fun stage presence. RIP Gary.
I legit saw them last night a few hours ago. It is currently 1:22 in the morning where I am in south Dakota and they were amazing. This song was definitely a highlight
Even after a plane crash that killed the lead singer and others, Ronnie Van Zant's baby brother Johnny taking over lead vocals, and many other band member tragedies and deaths, Lynyrd Skynyrd is still the greatest Rock N Roll Band ever in my opinion.
Best Southern Rock band EVER!!!!
@@adriantomlin2902 Best Band ever in general, of all time. 😉
Skynyrd won't ever die
greater than the Beatles ? that is saying a lot.
johnny is the nicest guy, ive met him
I've been to around 30 concerts in my life and LYNYRD SKYNYRD concert was hands down the BEST one I've been to. SKYNYRD NATION BABY!!!!
Despite all of the tragedies and all of the changes, Skynyrd is still one hell of a great band. Rock on guys.!
+Kwon2m yes they are
Am I hallucinating or is one the bass player in this video from ZZ Top?
+Judith Magill I don't know about hallucinating, but the bass player here is Johnny Colt. Yes, I had to look that up. Dusty Hill is still, and always has been, with ZZ Top. :)
I loved Lynyrd Skynyrd and I still do I'm going to tell him a 1973 weeks for any of them got killed plane crash and they were fantastic and I got to see him afterwards and they were still asleep. So people just have to know your music
You're right
southern rock is my stress reliever
and I'm from the north . . .
Absolutely, positively, definitely , the best "Rock N Roll" jam ever recorded. Were , are and always will be the ultimate buzzz!
Long live Skynyrd!
In 100 years people will still be listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd
When they are sitting in an interview they look old, but when they hit the stage the transformation is a miracle. They are once again in their 20s and rockin it like they were several decades ago. The blank spots are filled with others but you can feel the "Others" presence and Backing them Up. We can't see Ronnie, Allen and the others, but they are there none the less
Dwight Currie oh yea Ronnie, Billie Powell, and Leon are all holding them up!!
Totally agree brother 💯. The originals are looking down and critiquing for sure. 😎👍
RIP Gary!😢
The music lives for ever !!!
Sorry, I wish Ronnie was singing, no one can replace him or anyone else in Lynyrd Skynrd, they were the heart & soul of the south R.I.P.😪💯💐
Best damn southern rock band ...for sure !
Fantastic concerts they rocked in the 70s! Thank you for the great music and great kick ass times Lynyrd Skynyrd!
Best decade ever.

Am not American am just 20yo
And I love this band
I feel strange when I see those audience its like the younger of them is about 50yo
I hope I'll find more fans for this band from my generation just to keep the freebird and Ronnie spirit alive after those great guys✊✊
Yep, that's the one, can't deny it.
I was born in 1990, many years after the tragedy took place BUT Skynyrd has been and always will be my favorite band of all time. I grew up listening to the classics, but the first time I heard Sweet Home Alabama, I was hooked. Especially since I was born and raised in Alabama!
Thank you lord. Thanks for Lynard Skinnard. Thanks for all the memories and happiness these guys and gals have brought to our lives. Love you forever.
It's amazing all the transformations that Skynryd has been through that they have been able to keep Ronnies legacy goin all these years!! It mind boggling.
Rip Gary thank you for your music 🎵
This video was made in Jacksonville Florida . . . Welcome home Lynyrd Skynyrd .
Nothing more Dixie Land than this song by this group......Lynyrd Skynyrd is American Rock n Roll.....
There music is so great. The drummer is awesome!
Too sweet ! 2020 und noch immer TOP!
When. I was now. When. I. Was older. I. Still. Listen. To. Even. More. That. Says. It. All
Fabulous! Classic!!
RIP GARY!
Good morning to all....I think it was great
Got to see these guys in concert back in the 80's. It was awesome! 💕
you weren't able to see them in the 80's. They were retired between 1977 and 1991. -_-
@@capo2007 they toured in 1987
Met original band in 70s...Stuck in Bronx NY
My favorite Lynyd Skynyrd song

He’s still got it and will never lose it.

This is the best band in the world.
I wish to be so laid-back when I reach their age. They just rock!
Great people

For sure!!!!!!😊😊
I love 'em. I just saw them a few weeks ago. I saw the original Skynyrd back in 1977. I got no beef with Johnny Van Zant. He is Family, and Gary Rossington is worth the price of admission to me. They are all great musicians. A Powerful Show.
Powerful is an understatement lol. The show I went to (Simpsonville 2017 a few days ago with Marshal Tucker band) was the loudest and most clean sounding rock concert I've ever been to. That was an incredible auditory experience. Pure Rock N' Roll from the south.
I saw them in 77 also in Columbus Ga, May 24..never forget it
Agreed 150% my wife and I got meet n greet tickets to the Tuscaloosa Alabama show 2 weekend ago and as you said Gary Rossington is worth every single penny, he is such a humble man to his fans, he signed my Gibson SG pick guard for me and talk to me as if he known me for years, he is one man that I'll never forget meeting, Gary Rossington is the Gibson guitar GOD, God Bless Gary Rossington!!!!
@@roltyd22 wow they came to Columbus??? thats crazy. thats where i am from and i had no idea they came!
@@zekeschriver1554 sure did in the municipal auditorium
Real fucking music that "NEVER DIES"!
I just love this song
luv that walk'n bass.
Top 3 American bands of all time. AEROSMITH SKYNYRD EAGLES
Love it. Cheer up music. Listen to it many times. Go boys.
Still kicking ass after all these years. Rock on, guys.
Unfortunately we just lost Rossington today. ☹️RIP big man.
Not a rock fan, but a classic is a classic.
My grandfather who is born in 1903 and had five children, who grew up on rock and roll. When I played Bohemian Rhapsody, for him he loved it. I played it so much for him that I want up having to go out and get a second record. I didn't have the heart to tell them that Freddie Mercury and Queen were rock and roll.
Skynyrd....still the ICON!
The original lineup or todays lineup the music is still being played to many fans. In my point of view the original lineup would be damn proud to have their music played the way they wanted and to be as close to the original as it can be. I will see them as many times as I can cause its good music that lost compared to nowadays
fred derf You said it all Fred!!
Omg! I love this music. You gentlemen are very talented! Thank you. Greetings from Colorado.
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
Today i'm so sad. Rest in peace, GARY. 🙏
Great song saw theme back in the 70 s
RIP Gary we will miss you
My late wife was named Linda Lou. Man she hated when my band covered this song...lol...god I miss her.
And so you kept playing it to pis her off? I'll bet you miss her.
Your Wife is a Living Soul, and She still Loves YOU. Gimme Three Steps, Baby.
my ex was linda too
That's a good Southern name!

Best Era of music ever. We grew up in the late 70s early 80s awesome music
Yup. Me too. Right on!
The band is having fun so the fans are having fun.
Another great song by these boys.
Went to see them in Ga with my son and three grandchildren, 16, 10 and 7 and they knew all of the songs by heart. We had a blast and they will never forget it. Great show.
They’re like a good wine 👌🏻
Johnny has too good of a time on stage. I lived in Jacksonville 21 years and these guys are idols there...I agree!!!!
Johnny is sounding really fine.. still loving my favorite band Lynyrd Skynyrd !! keep rocking ... you all must have left the ladies at home huh?
It simply does not get any better than that!!!
Looking to see the boys in Jersey in two weeks! Great Southern Rock!
Love me some Skynyrd!!
Janice Van Zant how are you related to them
Just discovered this. Great love it.
These guys sound as great as ever! Van Zant's voice is as fantastic as ever!!!
yeah Johnny has come full circle he is like a aged whiskey getting better w/age.. love Skynyrd love them..
Its NOT Ronnie tho'
Richard Welton No but he is as close to Ronnie as you can get. Ronnie once said that his brother was the most talented of the three brothers.
@@dr.johnilias1791 WHERE did he say THAT? ive never seen or heard that, and i knew Allen and im from Jacksonville, and ive read and seen everything out there....i could have missed it....or forgot....but i would like to see that article....
the whole problem i have with the TRIBUTE band, is that people actually BELIEVE that JOHNNY was always the singer....ive even read interviews and seen videos where he talks about the struggles when "WE" first started out.same a the delusional Gene Odom...HE is convinced that every song they wrote...is about HIM....even Curtis Lowe....
He DID admit at one point to stealing coke bottles off Ronnies porch before dawn as a kid, but that is where it ends.
i bought his books and i liked him, till someone told me that who knows him VERY well.
@@edwhite7475 I beleive RVZ did say that but JVZ later said his big brother only said it to give him confidence. Obviously we all know JVZ doesnt have even close to the talent as his older brother. I suppose he was the best guy for the job though
America best southern boogie band
The Fabulous Fox Theater. The house that Ronnie Van Zant built. R.I.P Ronnie. We love ya and we miss ya so much.
Love them forever. That's all I ever listened to when I was a wild child.
