I actually started with freelance writing back in 2013 and then become a SEO consultant. In SEO content writing was one of the main work. Great tips and good to see this videos after years of knowing your work.

Great video as usual. Good tips to get those high paying and long term clients. You guys are probably the most complete source of up to date information on freelance writing on youtube- in my opinion. Honestly though, if you aren't getting clients through the online platforms, your prices are too high. Getting clients is actually easy in my opinion. The catch is that they don't pay well at first. But finding 5c per word writing jobs? Easy. I'm still a beginner, but I can find more 5c word jobs then I have time to do. But if you're just starting out, that low pay is a good thing in my opinion. I provide an effective service at an exceptional price point, but I'm NOT an expert(although I brand myself as one, duh). Becoming an expert take years, no matter what you're trying to learn. As I become an expert, I'll be able to confidently charge more for my services.

Precise, helpful and to the point. I usually watch every video on a 1.5x rate, but with location rebel, every second is content rich. Rock on.

This video made me cringe to realise that I am making all 5 mistakes. Not anymore... Thank you for your service.

What if you think you’re a dolphin having a human experience and your writing niche is sardines and anchovies?

The point is just do the work, be consistent and do incremental upgrade from time to time. No magic word. Love this. 👍

This was a great video, Sean! It's wise to avoid boilerplate mass messaging spamming. However, it's wise to focus on 2-3 prospecting methods instead of being too spread thin

What if you know a lot about a topic, but find it hard to come up with something to write about?

Good question, Jim. I tend to have a number of kind of template headlines I can use to jump start ideas. The video and blog post here, should help kickstart things! ua-cam.com/video/dEwbo67u_0k/v-deo.html

The niche selection is the hardest part. Currently, my niches on fiverr are DEI, parenting/fatherhood, and mental health/self improvement.
If I were to create a site, idk how I'd boil it down to one. All 3 topics relate, but it seems I need to choose

I watched this before I started freelance writing, and I watched this after I started...
Great advice that I am going to apply to my business! Having a spreadsheet and going down the list of who to reach out to is an amazing organization tactic!

    Hi Sean,
Thanks so much for this. I found your channel 3 days ago, and I'm loving it.
I'm planning to launch my freelance writing career, so I'm trying to learn all I can about it. Your videos are so valuable, and fun to watch, really. I enjoyed watching you tear a cold pitch someone sent to shreds in one of your videos where you taught how to and how not to cold pitch.
Thanks for creating helpful guides like this.

Some states are not friendly to freelancers. The advice you give that people are sole proprietors really depends on the state they live in and could be really terrible legal advice that could get them into hot water - a full cauldron of loss. Writers - watch your back.

Your pitching is the true illustration of how pitching should be in real-time. Insightful substance...💯

What do you think about platforms like Upwork, Fiverr and Freelancer?

Great place to get started. Usually this means taking low-wage work, so it's probably not the best long-term strategy. However, these websites can be used to build a portfolio of work, which you can then use to advance your career.
