Even though Fright Knights do not receive much appreciation in the Lego community, I like the theme very much. Basil and his castle are very neat but I can understand if someone else does not share my views. It just highlights that the definition for a "good" Lego set is purely arbitrary and subjective. Whether small and polished details made with countless of small bricks or precise realism make a set "good" is entirely up to the reviewer.
So true! These older sets for many have such great “happy” memories. To me the Fright Nights are a continuation of the Dragon Knight theme which I have a big emotional attachment to!
Been rebuilding all my sets and currently on this one. So interesting to see the story behind this set and thanks for showing me how to combine it all together (not sure I have every piece sadly):
What a fun project! Lego pieces are like socks… somehow some just get lost… I’m just redoing a train set I’ve had since the early nineties and 20 + brick no where to found… after searching for couple days and finding 7 out of 20. Called it close enough…. When I get some time will order missing pieces from Bricklink..
@@vintagebricks searching for them is such a pain. i have a literal bedtop full of various piles since i dont have enough storage containers. any tips for organizing so I can find stuff better? (also for this set, sadly I think I am missing two of the tall black pillars, quite important pieces):
I’ve tried to keep organization simple but the sheer amount of pieces overwhelms my plans. Lots of friends just give me old Lego sets … combined with mine it’s a big logistical issue. Where I am today in this process… about six tackle boxes where I put small or small rare pieces sorted by type. Then some bigger bins that are sorted by color only.. blues - old grey etc. then stuff I haven’t sorted I break down and all a couple large bins … as future “ rainy day” project. So not great system but where I’m at today… again good hunting as you reassemble your old sets!!
Super cool. This theme had some stinkers, but this one stands out to me as a real winner. The play features and historic height really sell me. Plus, you get one of all the cool new characters. Still, not my favorite set of the theme. Great overview, I enjoy your enthusiasm and the fun history like alternative names.
For sure.. great thoughts… Legos designers were releasing new themes every year it seemed during this time…. Basil is one of my all time fav minifigs … he alone sold me on this theme
@@vintagebricks do you own the Prison Transport set or the Witch's Windship? I'd love to see both, or see a comparison of the Fright Knights Prison Transport and the Dragon Masters' Dragon Wagon. Forgive me if you've done such already and I missed it. Love your videos my friend. Thank you for taking the time to read and answer questions.
The castle theme died when they started intruding dragons and fantasy elements. Set 6086 was the last true castle. Everything went downhill after that.
Beautiful! 🙂
The most magnificent castle of all time. I'd challenge anyone who says otherwise.
How can anyone agrue with "Nightlordbuilds"!
Recently bought the small set that is just Basil with his cape on the black dragon. I love the old dragon mould!
Isn’t that cape great! I put Basil as my thumbnail image cause he is just too great looking
Mr or Sir! Huge Respect you are a True collectors and lego enthusiast! Thank you for high lighting my favourite sets!
Thanks my friend… this really is a fun set! Basil one of my favorite minifigures

Once again ,another TOP video ,James. Hugs from Portugal !!!!!
Thanks again!
Fright Knights are great minifigures. The builds aren't the best, but they are nostalgic for me.
Basil is my favorite of this set. Wiilas cape is very distinctive too

Thanks my friend! I do have those sets and a comparison video is a great idea! Put them on my todo list🙂
I want
I like the minifigs and that height of the set, but as a castle it is pretty horrible with holes everywhere.
Ya… the finish of these late 1990 sets all were a different caliber than earlier sets.
It's like an accident. I wanna help, but I can't look away.
lol… cleaver comment. No idea 🤷 if you liked video but everyone survived accident!
@@vintagebricks I like the video. I like the minifigures. I despise the set and the theme.
Oh 🙂.. james

It’s nice to see the new Lion Knight Castle return to the classic theme!
The royal knight castle was also great. They didn't have any fantasy element.
