I’m a retired Harley mechanic for the Washington DC police department and I parked my Harley and bought a 2000 Honda Valkyrie interstate for $2000 with 4500 miles, now it has 90,000 miles no problems just brakes oil and tires never rode such a comfortable bike ,I go coast to coast once a year and just love it
Nobody bought the 2015 Valk because it's a ugly motorcycle
If they would have made it naked they wouldn’t be able to make enough of them
If they made it naked like the old ones they wouldn’t be able to make them fast enough everyone would be buying them
Absolutely fantastic bike, add a Corbin seat saddle bags and a nice windscreen and tour away. Regular gas smoooooth ride . Mine is a 2014 love it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I'd love to have one of those.
Yes beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder! A few beers in, any bike looks amazing.
But I actually like this bike too.
What's the phrase ? Two wheel FREEDOM.ON A
H O N D A
1800
Had two 14' Valks back to back! Awesome Awesome bike! Powerful, smoooooth as silk, excellent handling, excellent fuel range (6.1 gal) & EXCEPTIONALLY reliable.... even for a Honda! Terribly underrated bike!
Aren't hondas the most reliable brand??
Why did you get rid of them??
@kotagrey sadly unfortunately, I was the victim of hit & run on BOTH bikes... only months apart!!!
I’m one of very few apparently, that actually likes the appearance of the bike.
I think they look great.
Of course the quality is second to none.
@@daryldaryl913the only issue with buying a Honda is they last so long, you never have an excuse to get a different bike!
I think they are beautiful!!!
I purchased a 2014 ABS and it's absolutely fantastic ride, I have friends that ride Harley's, Spyders and Indian Pursuit and they all love my bike.
Bike night I get a ton of riders that asks what kind of futuristic bike is that?My local mechanic bike shop always tells me to never sell it.
I love Motorcycles and I like all brands but not all models.Honda for me nailed it with this bike.It was truly ahead of it's time now it's very much appreciated and admired by a ton of riders.Great video and his opinion was what he thought.Keep riding and stay safe everyone!
I love the chunkiness. I would love this bike. Honda, smooth, reliable, powerful.
I could tell by the sound. The flat 6 sounds like a space ship.
I did guess, because I ride a 1998 Honda Valkyrie. Not the same bike, for sure, but the same root. Great bike!
Jerry as a Goldwing rider, I enjoyed your prospective comments on that Valkyrie. Isn’t a Rune, but on a budget it can be a great substitute. I respect your channel and your instructional videos like ‘Survive the Mean Streets’, and Ride like a Pro! Keep up the good work brother!
I owned two different 97 Valkyrie’s and put a ton of miles on both my best compliment was on board a ferry with 6 Harley riders and one of them said to his buddy, that’s the bike of my dreams!
I like the styling and I'm no Honda guy. Just Harleys and classic Brit bikes my entire life. Sounds great too!
Great Bike and a genuine Hot Rod too. Fast, handle well and reliable as a framing hammer
I did. 2015. 1832 cc. 118 hp and 120 ft of torque. Black abs. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Nice
Just to correct a probable typo, its actually 1832 cc. I've owned a black '14 since '16. Although close, I also believe your HP/torque numbers to be slightly off. No offense intended; you're close enough for who you're posting to.
I also am constantly asked when at a pit stop somewhere, "what IS that?" My bike has no HONDA emblems, which makes it even more fun.
@@tedostrem3907my bad. Lol
I had a 2014 and thought it was a great looking bike. Mine had the matching Corbin hard saddlebags and it looked even better. Styling is always a personal preference. It handled great. Wound up with a GW DCT which wound up being a better fit. The prices on the 2014 Valkyries are great, so if you want a cool cruiser at a great price for what you get, give one a try!
Last week I bought a 2014 Suzuki Boulevard C50 Boss edition with 6367 miles for $3900!
Great bikem you'll find you'll wish there was a 6th gear.
That bike burns oil after 85mph but it's a great bike.
Those are good bikes, I have a 2008 C90
I knew the sound. Unmistakable 6cyl
The RUNE was awesome
I actually really like it. I like the way it looks, I like the radiators, those bikes are monsters too. And, it’s a HONDA! Give it to me!!
I guessed correctly. I’ve got a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate and I love it.
Love the early Valk's and they're still popular. I admit to not paying attention this newer one. Good report, and I want one now!
I just watched the first 20 seconds of the video and I will say the Honda Rune. Now back to the video.
Yamaha Venture, 1983-2014. Smaller displacement (1299 cc) but great bikes.
I ride one of the only true Valkyrie 1997-2003. The following models should've been called something else 😎
Why do you consider the 97-03 Valkaries the "true" ones?
All I could think of was the Honda Rune, but the headlight didn't look big enough. I was close!
Never seen that version, but i actually like it. If nothing else, it would ride fantastic and last forever.
That dash gives it away- great bike, pity it never caught on.
I currently ride a 2020 HD Ultra Limited. My OTHER bike is a 2007 Honda VTX1800T. 104,000 miles and I have NEVER had a problem with it.
I knew what it was right away.......i owned one, great bike, i got a left over w/abs for $9995 brand new.
A coworker bought one and I believe the main reason he bought it was that he wanted a heavyweight cruiser but could not make himself buy a Harley Davidson. It’s a nice bike but the styling isn’t for everyone.
I own one so knew from the thumbnail of the front wheel and the speedo. I bought my 2014 with 200miles on it in 2020. Great dependable motorcycle.
Cruisers are not my thing, but this bike is cool looking with a superb power plant.
I’ve never understood how everyone into cruisers wants to be different yet almost all of them are on V twins.
Not trying to ruffle anyone’s feathers, lots great people living the cruiser lifestyle.
I had a 99 Valkyrie Interstate for over 20 years; an absolutely phenomenal motorcycle. This 2014 edition was an attempt to revive the legend, but it obviously failed....it was indeed an unattractive bike. Although, we cannot deny Honda's consistent impeccable quality.
Cool! Sounded like a Honda to me. Just love the smooth run and ride with that bike. If you appreciate those things, it can't be beat. Lean angle and maneuverability looks great. Thanks for the tour. Hope someone grabs it and loves it.
Nice bike Jerry! My neighbor has a Valkyrie and a Blackbird. Thank you for the ride along! 😊
I love the look, cant wait to pick one up with low miles :)
I knew that was a Honda 6 cylinder, but didn't know which model. I have a riding buddy that has a 1998 Valkyrie. He had both sets of pipes for it, the quiet ones and the 6 into 6. When he has the 6 into 6 pipes on it, it reminds me of a WWII rotary airplane.
I always loved the bike its amazing and deserves way more , but hey its what it is
I have a 98’ Valkyrie F6C. Best all around bike I’ve ever owned and/or ridden hands down. Absolutely love my Valk.
A truly beautiful bike, a work of art in fact. I came very close to buying one of these, but the flip of the coin fell on a Triumph 1200 Speedmaster for me, which is a great bike, but the Honda F6C still haunts my dreams. As you say a rare machine, which in the UK has been appreciating in price. A unique motorcycle with the Goldwing’s smooth power, sophistication and reliability but with Art Deco looks. A million miles away from a Harley (and I do like some Harley’s, my brother has a 1340 Evolution Low Rider), but the Honda F6C Ain’t no Harley. If I had to choose, I think you Harley boys know exactly which way my coin would flip!
Hey Motorman! Thank you... I wouldn't have guessed. Nice hum. Nice bike!
Thanks for the video. I have a 2000 Honda Valkyrie Interstate and it's still a great bike to ride. I wish Honda had stayed with the earlier Valkyrie style when they came out with the 2014/15 Valkyries. I would love to have the newer fuel injected 1800 engine with 6 speed transmission and traditional cruiser style. Not a fan of the looks of the 2014/15.
I saw the front fender in the thumbnail and i already knew it , because i have one. Number 94 from 2014 that leaved the factory (one of the first 100 ever produced) burgundy red,non ABS.
Came from Knoxville Tennessee and is now in germany. Bought it for 16.5K Euros ( They are megarare in germany, because every one is an import, afaik honda didn't sell the valkyrie in germany, and only black was available in europe) with ca 2.5k miles on it.
i saw it, i fell in love, i bought it
ps: it's an absolute eyecatcher! everyone comes to me and want talk, because nobody knows what this big ship is.
It's a great bike. Don't sell it or you'll regret it.
@@motorman857 No no no neeeeeeever. 😁 i love this Bike and i will never become a 2nd chance to get another one. Especially in this color, with this low mileage and in this clean nearly new condition. No mods, no aftermarketcrap, completly original exept a removeable phonemount and charger.
The bike is awesome and doesn't look like most stale designed bikes out there, but has a lot of potential!.
Sounds like a flat six found in Valkyries and Gold Wings. I love my 2018 Wing.
I’ve still got mine! Great ride, I like the look, torque for days…
I was just in a MSF course with a guy who had one. Everybody had to ask him about the bike.
Goldwing anyday over that. At least you have a deluxe bells n whistles 2 wheel ride for touring . I plan on getting one someday when the kids have moved out. For now it’s a nc700x as a practical tool for a little 2 wheel fun but also 60mpg in case Potato Joe gets another 4 to wreck us further.
I love this bike! Will have one sometime
With all that engine weight down so low that bike can almost stand upright without the side stand.
Valkyrie! Such a cool bike
i just started and im guessing valkyrie based off the exhaust note.
It's a Honda Davidson! I can tell because it doesn't sound like a 2cyl lawnmower.
There was no mistaking the sound of Honda's famous flat 6, from their Goldwing line, but you were clearly not on a Goldwing. That only left one possibility! Pretty easy to guess it was a second generation Valkyrie, because of the digital speedometer...
Awesome video concept! I guessed Honda Rune.
I knew it was a Honda just not the exact model. Sweet bike!
I have a 2014 Black ABS model. This bike is truly awesome and reliable.I get so many compliments and questions about where did I purchase it from to did it just come out? I admire his opinions and it was what he believed.I myself don't care for Harley Baggers due to my height. They just don`t fit me.I feel so cramped.I tried old and the newest 24 models.Love the Breakout but my Valkyrie is just so exclusive when I ride it here in Savanah Ga.My local bike shop mechanic told me to never ever part with it or I'll regret it. Considering a bagger just to add to the garage soon maybe a k1600b or Indian Challenger/Pursuit.Keep riding and stay safe everyone.Great video a great replies on this Matters.
BERTS BARRACUDA HAS A SIMILAR ONE ON THEIR FLOOR THUS PAST WEEKEND, BUT THE NAME IS DIFFERENT, ITS CALLED Roam and has a reverse Leading Link front suspension, but it's backwards, it's very smooth,Extremely clean - no scratches at all, I don't know hiw much they're asking for it
Great Video! I'd love borrow that bike for a weekend. But owning a rare bike is a financial problem for me. I can get HD parts cheap & easy then do my own repairs. That's why I love my 05 Road King & EVO Sportsters so much.
I had a 99 Interstate. Knew what you were on as soon as it started. The engine had six carbs and solid lifters. A bit quicker than the Goldwings. No reverse though. The Interstate was a pig to push around.
Since its a flat six, very obvious sound, also doesn't have faring surrounding the front it was pretty easy to tell
I'm going to say a Victory.
I guessed it right! But……..I ride a 2018 Goldwing. Great bikes!
The Valk. I regret ever getting rid of mine.
Excellent motorcycle.
Damn it sounds so good
I knew the engine was a goldwing 1800. I wasn't sure what the bike was. I was thinking rune but the speedo is different. I just never have seen this version of the valkery.
It’s a shame it’s so ugly. One of the best engines out there.
The original late 90’s Valkyrie was cool!
This one looks like Star Wars barf! 🤮
FYI… Jerry, I’m 6’6” but identify as 5’7”. 😎
I would love to have this bad boy for a long ride. It should have gotten a better reception, but I understand the sticker stock. And the radiator complaint. I'm more into function and reliability than sex appeal.
Happy Mother’s Day Doctor Donna! 💐🌻🤗
Thanks, @karenshoucairmcgray4902!!! 😁😁
@@motorman857 😊
The Valkyrie is a goldwing. It's a striped down goldwing ,(or at least the older one were) with a slightly hopped up goldwing motor. Several models but one that stands out above all is one of the finest motorcycles ever made and it's called the ROANE (NOT sure spelling) if you never saw a Roane you have to search the web and see. Honda said the pug about $100,000 in each limited Roane but sold for $28,000 or so. It was made like show cars where every line was perfect, every seam was perfectly spaced, every crack was perfectly aligned, nothing but perfection and it sure the hell didn't look like that.
The limited edition Honda Valkyrie that you are referring to is spelled RUNE, as in Norse Runes. Fun fact: the Bluetooth symbol is a Norse Rune.
@@vikingplumber9541 Cool fact.
Yea, I never could spell that damn name ever since that bike came out. But I do like it.
Thanks for helping me out with that.
@@vikingplumber9541is true, that Bluetooth technology is named after that viking king who connected the tribes to a serious force?
The designer in Japan had too much saki and mercury laced sushi
Honda Rune Valkyrie!!! ? That’s what I want.
I knew it was the Goldwing motor but not the model😁.
Message to all valkyrie/rune owners. Can balance a coin, on it's edge, on the engine, while engine is running
Believe about 3 thousand of these were produced in 2 years, less than the Rune. You mentioned $19k for the abs model, Honda lost almost that much on every Rune they sold. The Valkyrie is a good bike and the build quality is excellent, good bike.
Thx Jerry
Seen his reflection in the black paint on the radiator!!
A hundred and ten thousand on my 98 GL1500. Don't need to replace it yet.
Yeppers, Honda used to say the GL bikes should be capable of a million miles. Not unusual to find some headed for that.
I guess you're not aware that many riders of 2018-2024 Wings have complained that their motors have seized. Honda is about to issue a re-call. ua-cam.com/video/9SflFku0eKo/v-deo.html So much for the million miles.
@@motorman857 True, I've heard this but haven't had and new ones. Mine were from that period when they stated that. And thanks to you I've already chatted with them on that new Valk.
I've been looking at an older valkrie for the past two weeks, very interested in getting one. I have no interest in Harleys by any means, but the Valks are pretty nice bikes
Get a triumph rocket 3
@@Dave-sw2dm I would never buy a European vehicle even if someone gave it to me. My only exception is mopeds, I do have a Tomos. I'd love an American made motorcycle(which these Valkyries in most cases are), but Harley helped lobby for so many regulations that pretty much all of them died other than the really small shops so it's pretty much Japanese bikes for me.
@@MakisOfEquinox , Why can't we have unity in the motorcycle community instead of animosity based on partial information blown out of proportion?
@@Dave-sw2dm I'm not sure what you mean? I don't dislike riders for buying them. I don't like Harley's because they are a bad value for the money and European vehicles are the same issue......other than old-school mopeds they are cheap, not over-engineered like all other euro vehicles, and fun as hell.
@@MakisOfEquinox , how is a Harley a bad value for the money compared to other brands? I bought a one owner 2009 Softail Custom last fall for $5400. As long as I keep it in good order I will never lose money on it when I sell it. The parts availability through Harley and aftermarket will allow me to keep it running for a long time. I owned a 2001 Kawasaki Voyager XII and by 2006 I could no longer get an air filter for it. I’ve owned most brands of motorcycles. They are all interesting and bring something unique to the experience. You appear to speak from a place of hearsay instead of personal knowledge.
I think the biggest problem was the lack of an integrated windscreen
And no luggage. Put on the luggage and windscreen, and it's no longer a Valkyrie.
I had to look that up.. the chooser of the slain
Valkyrie...🤔😱😱😱
I was close thought it was a rune but you can not beat a Honda either way
Honda Valkyrie. I have one . Only black one were ABS.
It's a Goldwing motor and reliable so they said wow that's the price for me
I would but that in a heart beat but my ultra limited might get mad 😂
Random question, Mr. Palladino. I've decided to start my motorcycle journey late in life (34). I scoured Facebook for a cheap second-hand bike to start me off. I wound up with an '09 triumph thruxton 900. I like that it sits a little higher than a cruiser (farther line of sight), but the throttle is kinda.....sensitive. A little goes a long way😊. Did I make a catastrophically bad choice?
I don't like the riding possition on the Thruxton but if it fits you, that's what matters. I've owned 3 late model Triumph's. All were great bikes and very nimble.
00:19 Honda Rune
2:14 Well, I was close!
😊 (wink)
#Valkyrie
Another great buy is the xv1900 I'm on my third ...
Probably a great bike, but very hard on the eyes !!!
Great bike, but also the Yamaha Roadliner / Stratoliner
2014 Valkyrie. 106 hp is at the rear wheel. It's more like 118- 120hp at the crank
What's your source?
They still bring north of 8 grand, so they're not *too* ugly
I guessed right!
Guessed right, right away
I knew it was a valkyrie I just didn't know the specific model.
Great bike. Most people have bad taste
2014 Honda valkerie
I thought it was a Honda fury because of the speedometer
It’s really too bad because on a spec sheet this is a real sweetheart.
It's also a sweetheart to ride.
3rd gen Honda Valkyrie 1800. Reliable but overpriced at the time. Kind of like F6B without fairing and luggage.
