Kentaro Miura’s artwork needs to be displayed at a museum. It’s that elegant and beautiful
it is in japan if that counts
@@Griffith74 It does. Need to be worldwide on the real
Especially after his death he should have his paneling displayed in museums around the world.
There's a museum in Japan that features his artwork.
The evolution of the art as well has been outstanding. It starts off good but midway through Conviction it becomes masterful. But it always had that same soul.
Disagree. It goes from masterful to heavenly. It's a masterpiece from the start.

I didn’t read berserk while Miura was alive, but caught up recently over the span of a month or so.
I started tearing up when i approached the last couple chapters, and actually sobbed when reading his final chapter. Knowing those were the final panels he would ever draw in the manga was so emotional.
Ouch, but it’s better late than never, but when he died i had lost hope in continuing the series similar to Guts, after the eclipse, but after knowing it could continue i have found my acceptance.
Your videos are so therapeutic and yet so thought provoking. I feel like this belongs on the radio, keeping me company as I wash the dishes in my kitchen.
Honoured to be your kitchen companion :)

Berserk is a timeless masterpiece, i am glad it got so famous.
Somethings guarantee themselves the spotlight, purely because of their quality. Something like Berserk, couldn't and wouldn't go unnoticed.
I’m on the 8th of those giant hardcover volumes of Berserk right now. I’m so close to being able to binge all of your videos on Berserk.
If you wait for their releases then you'll be waiting a while before you catch up, FYI
this was me a few months ago lol i ended up finishing my collection with the singles not the deluxe versions after deluxe edition 10 so i could read them right away
While there are stories that I love more than Berserk, none have made me feel as strongly as Berserk. Those emotions and feelings are so vast and broad too, and they all tie into Miura's art and prose. The art in Berserk elicits such awe-inspiring emotions and head spinning thoughts, that just looking through images of the story is an experience in and of itself. My word did this story do a number on me, but I will absolutely re-read it a thousand times over because there is legitimately not a single other story like Berserk in fiction. It is every kind of unique, and I am so grateful to Miura, may he rest in peace forever and always. Thank you AJ for this wonderful appreciation video, I loved every second of it!
I've said it before: Miura was to visual storytelling what Tolkien was to the written word.
That was not miura. That was Stanley Kubrick.
@@kunalfadtare2056 I don't want to start something, cause Kubrick has some of the most iconic sequences, SFX, and cinematography of all time, but I've seen single-shot silent reels with better pacing. You could call his minimalist approach in 2001 immersive and meditative, but I'm not watching the last 20 minutes straight of kaleidoscope colors in a sober state again, just to get to the climax.
Your commentary reminded me of a thought I had when watching The Godfather for the first time recently - these scenes look like they’ve been ripped from another universe where this is real. These aren’t characters or fiction, this isn’t acting - it feels *real.*
Credit to the actors and filmmakers for making a masterpiece that evokes that.
Same exact thing goes for Berserk! Just with manga, and the art and world and characters. Incredible for this vista to come from a human mind, let alone a singular visionary. Miura was touched by God.
"Exceptionally Universal" is a great way to put it!
Cuz you can show any person from anywhere Berserk's art and they can all *feel* it.
After watching this it finally clicked with me what the tattoo on your left arm is; brought tears to my eyes. It's always a joyful thing to read Berserk again, or see someone else admire it too and realize, "Yeah, Berserk really is my favorite manga." It just captures so much of what's beautiful in the world despite all the brutality and violence. I always feel blessed to be able to read it. Thanks for the video Aleczandxr, peace be with you and everyone else that stopped by here.
I like how he's put out amazing videos for years straight and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
Miura, Murata, Sakamoto and Inoue are the Mount Everest of Japanese illustration for the past few decades.
You forgot Horikoshi.

@@SnailHatan Laugh if you want, just shows a disrespect for the level he's achieved as a weekly artist. Completely take the story out of it. No one is doing that in modern manga.
Each of your videos makes me miss Miura more and more. I hope he's resting peacefully. Great video. It's always a pleasure to hear your thoughts on Berserk
Much appreciated!
The art in Berserk is always so deep and layered . It can be both dark and scary but also beutifull and hopefull. I have never read and prob never will anything like Berserk.
I love this video, i also love that you chose to use the skyrim soundtrack for your discussion.
Glad you enjoyed!
A once in a lifetime talent, not only for genius storytelling and capability for such poetry in his dialogue, but also for probably the best art the medium has and will ever see. I'm just like you, I think so much of the story that I sometimes forget it's simultaneously the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Wow that's a beautiful video title. I agree
"Like something out of a fairytale."
I just recently watched the old anime and read the manga afterwards. Usually I don't really read a lot of manga, but I really wanted to know what would happen after the eclipse. While reading, I was so fascinated by the story that I at first did not take the time to look at the artwork. Every time I did, however, it was surreal. Every single page is so incredibly detailed and well-made that I soon needed triple the time to finish a chapter, because I couldn't not look at the artwork. Berserk is truly special. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it!
My pleasure!

It's been a while since I read the whole thing. And seeing some of these panels again after a few years really makes them hit. I *remember* Ganishka turning into a gigantic tree monster, but I still felt the impact fresh as if new when seen towering above the buildings and beyond the clouds. Miura really was something else.
Great video, i absolutely love Berserks art. Its just stunning and outworldly, like from a different universe, as you said.
Thank you!
didn't watch the vid yet and already I agree, the last chapters couldn't make this any clearer. his soul is gone RIP Miura
Honestly the art of Berserk is what kept me coming back to it when the story was very hard to read. Miura used the empty spaces and could convey isolation and loneliness in the art as well as incredibly detailed destruction, he made such good use of maximalist panels as well as the empty spaces in the page. His style sometimes remind me of Renaissance art.
These serene moments always remind me of a comment I saw on UA-cam, on the dark souls 1 menu theme video.
"the song feels like a mother's warmth before being cast out into an unknown world"
That's the closest I come to describe what the feeling is, and since ds is inspired by berserk I find it fitting
Because of your takes on the one piece art on stream I feel like you probably had this in mind for a while, the video is really good
Miura was the manga equivalent of Shakespeare, even the bible at certain points.
High praise!
nah the dickeating is crazy
"It belonged to the domain of legends."
Many thanks for creating this video
I remember reading the manga in the library when I was a teenager. Recluses in a corner experiencing one of the most disturbing, heart wrenching, calming and beautiful series I’ve ever read/watch. Miura’s art does leaps in terms of quality it’s just insane. Thanks for this video bro 🥰🙏🏾
Well said, I also feel a certain connection with the art itself. Really inspiring in all aspects really
Art is probably the hardest topic to talk about Berserk, since it's purely technical and the only thing you can do about it is compare it to other works or be an artist yourself.
Your Videos help me so much,to relax and understand. You are so underrated bro.Keep making content
Let's goo a Berserk video
The art subtly hints at so many of the points the manga makes, and at Guts' core traits. One of it's best uses is how it showcases loneliness with the big, open, quiet panels.
It really conveys to the reader that what seems truly frightening is not the monsters, but the moments of crippling loneliness and introspection, where nothing occupies the mind other than intrusive thoughts. The oppressiveness of these scenes really captures trauma.
When people pick a couple panels from the manga and say the story is just being grim dark for the sake of being dark shows they haven't read the manga.
There manga out there that are edgy for the sake of being edgy. Berserk isn't one of them because it has so many panels that could be art pieces alone with their own story.
High praise!
The art 🎨 work in this manga is awesome.👏
Then perhaps, the last chapter he made, was him telling his fans goodbye because he knew his time was up
I swiped back and forth for like 5 minutes on the thumbnail because as it moves up and down on my phone screen the lines seem to animate and move. Wonder if it's a visual glitch in my screen processing the image or just an optical illusion
Will you be doing videos on the New Berserk chapters? Also you should check out the Berserk Sword of Guts Rage Game because the original story was written by Kentaro Miura and it takes place between Conviction and Falcon Of the Millenium Empire Arcs
Well said. The artwork of berserk is next level
Great video.
I don't know if you made this video due to the new chapters or not, but to me the difference was palpable, it made it very clear to me that Berserk without Miura doesn't exists and that what we are going to get is just a husk, a parody, an aesthetic. Not to discourage anybody obviously, it's just how I felt reading those chapters and while it can certainly change and improve over time, the reality is that the sort of people that make top tier anything, are not in abundance and are often hyperspecialized in a way where they are irreplaceable, there just isn't another Miura out there, or Oda, or Togashi, etc.
I didn’t make this video because of the new chapters, and personally I enjoyed the new chapters a lot.
The weird Berserk hate lately has been off-putting so it's nice to see some love here.
Hate??? What??? Where?
@@IaMaPh1991 Out and around on Twitter and Reddit, people downplaying the series. Also in UA-cam reviews, bad unsubstantiated criticism from certain reviewers.

Kintaro Mira always drew his story first before adding in the text.
Very well written
It always felt like Miura in his art was a conduit to another dimension. Some of the art here feels too real to just be imagination to me.
I have yet to find another manga artist who's work has gotten close to Miura's in terms of quality and aw. But what I'm really interested in is knowing/finding a color comic artist who's work is close to the same level of skill, inspiration and all the other qualities mentioned in the video that Miura's art brings, but you know, in color.
If anyone has encountered one then please let me know.
Moebius is close but he does art pieces instead of comics. It still inspires that sense of awe and scale that Miura’s work can give you.
Miura should be taught at every art university in the world
Miura is right up there as an artist, second to only Horikoshi.
In ART, not storytelling.
So basically...Kouji Mori has some *BIG SHOES* to fill.
Don't get it twisted though, I'm glad he's finishing Miura's masterwork for us!
I don't mean to sound like a rude fanboy or a hater, but I'm honestly surprised you didn't make a video about Arcane's Silco. I mean, to me at least, he was one of the best antagonists ever written for a videogame inspired animation. Not to mention his mentality and parallels with pilltover's king: Jayce.
I’ve talked for Silco for hours already in my Arcane episode reactions.
How do you feel about the chapters that have been released since Miura's death? Drop off or no?
There is a drop off but just a small one. They've done him proud so far
It's not the same
@@seemonuzumaki723 No shit it's not the same, it's not him writing/drawing it anymore..

I’m not sure what you’re talking about re: first comment - The Stylistic and Thematic Analysis of Fate/Zero is just fine, it’s still there. The Heart of Fate/Zero is on my second channel because it was taken down here.
It’s best to follow my Twitter for updates on stuff like this when they happen. Believe me there’s no need for me to check for this stuff lol, content creators affected by this learn about that far before anyone else does. Unfortunate thing, but it does happen.
@@Aleczandxr Sorry I'm not on twitter. (thinking of joining)
Yes the part 1 of "The Stylistic and Thematic Analysis of Fate/Zero" is there. but you had two more parts of that video series, they are not there.
And the only video on fate on the second channel right now is "A Tribute to Lancer (Fate/Zero)"
Oh I see, you’ve mixed up a couple of videos. A Stylistic and Thematic Analysis of Fate/Zero was only ever one video. It was never a series. If you rewatch that video to the end, you’ll see that it was conclusive. The series you’re thinking about is All The World’s Evil - An Analysis of Fate Zero. That was a three part series and it’s all been blocked from UA-cam.
The Heart of Fate/Zero is on my second channel, it’s just unlisted. Check my “Best Videos” playlist, it’s on there.

Thoughts on the transfers and predictions for the EPL this season?
Sorry for off-topic
That’s a question that can’t be justified with a short answer but I’ll just say.. interesting!
Miura sticking with drawing is like Goto and blacksmithing. He stuck with what he knew. He was truly a master of his craft. To me the series is over and the continuation is heretical and not canon
While I agree on the series dying alongside it's creator, and I completely understand the feeling (original berserk ended), it is canon.
The series is being continued by his best friend since school, who himself is a great mangaka centered on stories about pain, loss and suffering, alongside Miura assistants who spent most of their time not only helping create Berserk, but hearing about it from the author directly.
As Guts puts it, "things will never go back the way they were before", but there is no reason to give up on the series. And even less reason to consider the people continuing a man's life work as "heretical".
To trample on their desire to continue his serie is what's disrespectful.
