Emphasizing Lost Children is so important and useful to understanding Guts, because in many ways it represents the depths of his vengeance and despair, paralleling the narrative of Berserk itself arguably reaching its darkest, most distressingly brutal arc. It's exactly because of said darkness that I think the arc is so important to the overarching story, and yet it always feels undervalued from the plot perspective of things because it's basically a stand alone story that doesn't necessarily tie in to the main plotline, and is also so harsh and uncompromising in its violence and tragedy that it almost feels encapsulated in its own thematic tone, somehow even more starkly gritty and jarring than the rest of the manga. That's exactly why I really appreciate this video so much, because you genuinely capture exactly why Lost Children is so poignant and integral to Gut's characterization and overall journey, why it matters as a massive transitional starting phase from the Guts who truly fell almost completely into the void to the one we got to know in the last couple of arc of the story, who had mellowed out and legitimately found a way forward beyond his agony, trauma and vengeance through family, friends and self-realization. It's unbridled in its ultraviolence, but Lost Children clearly had meaning behind why it told the tale it did, and that's what makes it so memorable for me beyond just being an incredible spectacle because of its dynamic battles or extreme impact as a very harsh, dark experience. Comparing the fable of Peekaf to Guts himself instead of just Rosine is inspired, I really think that's a great insight and definitely makes sense in an overarching way, since at that point in the story that's exactly the juncture Guts is at in terms of his development and progression as a person. Felt like karma tbh. Only after i fell in love with something i ignored did i realise how much of it i would miss. I've read a bunch of manga. Tens of thousands of chapters. Finished Baki yesterday actually. 1267 chapters in 10 days. None come close to berserk. It left a hole in my heart and miura took a part of my soul. "You bear witness to the end of your journey. It is not always a happy thing." Rest in peace, Miura. Hope you found peace in the afterlife if there is one.

I might be at work, but I always got time for an Alexzandxr video, especially a Berserk one! Always love your videos my dude!! Can't wait to watch (well listen) to this while I work! [EDIT] Had to stop every so often to just simply.. enjoy Miura's work as it came on screen. Man was a grand influence on my life whether I was aware of it or not (I look at Ike Fire Emblem in particular) and helped me through so much of my life. I took up dip ink and ink wash as one of my most commonly used mediums in art school because of Berserk and, well, it ended up becoming my favorite traditional medium. I hope you rest well Miura and, if reincarnation and/or the afterlife are real, that they are kind and gentle to you. Thank you for everything.
Guts, like all of us, must find balance between the two sides of himself. Maybe the best revenge is caring for Casca, and trying to live the best life he can. Maybe all of his anger can be channeled into loving those around him. I believe this is still him fighting against Fate because after the eclipse, he was destined to die, and most likely would've descended into darkness. Rebelling against this casual outcome is the epitome of Guts. An integration of the shadow and light within him.
This video is great and came at a perfect time. I've been struggling a lot over the past 2 years with betrayals, anger, and unresolved trauma. This week I finally felt able to let it go and move on after enduring for so long. I never related to Guts til this moment. And I think that's really beautiful you helped make that happen!
Damn…this is the first berserk video that I’ve listened to where I’m not only uncomfortable with hearing what needed to be said but saddened at how everything has turned out. To be clear what I mean by that is how far more personal Guts’s struggle is to, well, people that feel they have nowhere to go or a place to belong but are probably blinded by that anguish and heavy heart to see what maybe they could do. I relate to lost children a lot, it is by far my favorite arc for the message it delivers and the harsh truth it shows about Guts, but the message at the end is one that is far too hard to swallow, and it seems that it might’ve been the same for Guts too, I feel that since I’ve said those same things too yet never put fully into practice, just said it like it is. There’s more to be said but you put everything perfectly and solidified even further why I love this story so much. Thank you for this video, and a thousand blessings for your future that’s to come.
One of the best written and illustrated stories in history, where it proves to be so much more than Dark Fantasy. Thank you Miura, for creating this masterpiece.
In all my darkest hours I always had berserk to fall back to and the willingness to keep going despite the hardships. Today my pc's hard drive died, I am out nearly $10k right now because of the price of the rig, the price of the games, and the price of all that I have bought in said games over the years. Yet somehow after the raw emotions faded I am left with a feeling like I have in some way been forced to move on. To make changes for the betterment of myself. I've been enjoying combat sports more and more lately and knew I'd have to sacrifice leisure time if I wanted to wholeheartedly pursue that passion. This feels like life decided to take the willpower aspect away and just leave me with only fitness. In a way I'm thankful for that despite everything.
Well.. since this is the end of Berserk. I'd say Guts and Casca settled down in the magical forest and lived happily ever after. They more than any characters deserve it.
The fun thing, Is you could also compare this to Griffith when he lost guts, when he lost all independence, when he lost all of his friends to his own ambition. Side note, and maybe I'm reaching, but isn't it interesting the Griffith was punished in a way that ensured he was reliant on others? Something that was originally his strength turned into his hell as now he was forced to depend on the remains of the band for everything.
I read through Berserk few weeks ago. I don't like starting a series which I don't if it will ever end and I knew very well the creator of Berserk passed away. Still, I heard it's the best manga ever so why not give it a shot. It's been going for 30+ years so it has to have some conclusions and merit to reading it. And it did. Words cannot describe the quality of this masterpiece. It is given the title of the best manga ever because the story works so perfectly inside of that medium and I can hardly imagine them making an anime or some other adaptation matching its quality just because of Miura's sheer talent, tenacity and hard work which made each panel a work of art on its own. They might finish the story one way or another, but there won't be any more of his drawings and that is the saddest thing ever.
Honestly I really belive this upcoming Griffith confrontation was to show that Guts changed that an opportunity of the story will present itself where he can let go of his biggest rage... literally. At least thats what I hope would happen.
Thank you for this, time to listen to "my brother", "black swordsman" or "blood & guts". This is something that i feel helps all fans get a bit closer to Acceptance if they haven't already.

And this video is something that I loved to watch especially after the passing of Kentaro Miura. Thanks so much for highlighting Guts, my fictional role model.
You’re very welcome, so happy you enjoyed.
Been supporting since your "Griffith Did Nothing Wrong" video fam, now this feels like it's come full circle. Thank you so much, and rest in paradise Miura.
Good video, Guts has so much symbolism with this story because he lost everything in a blip. Also interesting Guts relationship with Gambino in there final moments foreshadows Guts life and his relationship with Griffith as well and maybe some future foreshadowing. Guts killing Gambino (Griffith) eventually? After losing everything you have to move on. Rip Miura.
Guts would have killed Falconia Griffith.
Hey man, I was literally getting off a Berserk binge and this lands before my bedtime.
The Laws od Causality work in mysterious ways to keep me from sleeping.
I'm so sad that Miura couldn't finish Berserk, but I'm glad it ended so peacefully
A video from you on my favorite character ever? _GG_
I could write an essay on how much I love Miura's work, how it helped me through my worst moments and even helped growing up but _realistically nobody would care_ so I'm just going so say
Thank you Miura
And thank you Alecxandr
_I already know I'm going to love this video_
You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy.
@@Aleczandxr I'm 6 minutes in and I've been blown away already
I feel a bit embarrassed for not having understood the Peekaf/Guts parallelism before, having read Berserk several times haha
Edit: F*ck I wanna re-read Berserk now
For what it's worth I'd read your essay :)
God, I had forgotten how amazing the art for this series was. Absolutely stunning to look at
Damn this makes me want to reread Berserk again. Amazing video as always!!
Thank you! And no time like the present, go for a re-read!
Umineko chads having good taste as usual i see
A new Berserk video by Aleczandxr means it's a very good day. Thank You for this, excellent work as always! R.I.P. Kentaro Miura.
You’re very welcome, glad you enjoyed!
I can’t get through a Berserk analysis without tearing up. Well, I can if I close myself off from it emotionally, but then I can’t appreciate it as much.
So much respect for your content man, whether it's haikyuu, berserk, or anyother manga/anime your analyses are so well thought out and your opinions are always fresh and informed. Many thanks for creating :)
You’re very welcome, I’m very glad you enjoy all the content :)
Seriously his analysis forces me to question everything, every word he says is considered carefully you can tell he puts a lot of effort into his script and it’s beautiful his words mean something… watch his breaking bad/better call saul analysis it’s a masterpiece in writing
with miura's death in my mind the ending of berserk is guts living in peace with his friends in elfland and eventually bonding with casca again after all that time
Wow I can imagine how much harder it is to make a manga video compared to an anime video, but this video was gorgeous. Great use of the panels and how they filled the screen one by one.
Thank you! It was more work but Berserk is definitely worth it.
Miura, the greatest mangaka, created the best protagonist, the best antagonist and the best animanga of all time, and he put his soul and heart in it. Thank you for everything, you can rest now.
I really like Guts because he's really relatable
Man you try to make me cry, didn't you? Your videos are too good. Thank you.
You’re very welcome!
Lost Children really does encompass everything that Berserk is about. Even if it never gets's truly finished, the final image of Jill standing under the Cold blue sky seems like a perfect ending to this story.
This made me want to both reread Berserk and replay Skyrim.
You can always play dark souls aswell
I went to replay Skyrim a couple of months ago and played it for like 10 minutes. It just didn’t do it for me. It’s not what I remembered it being when it came out ten damn years ago.
@@joebeast15 It's a bad game, yeah. But the music and scenery is amazing, and this video reminded me of that
@@alicepbg2042 It was because of the music and footage, which dark souls wasn't a part of
@@easschung9442 I agree. It weird how time can skew your perceptions of things. When that game first came out I sunk a lot of hours into it. I went to replay it and it was like ten minutes in I was like “….I’m good”.
If I still knew how to cry, this video would deserve my tears
My favorite video essayist at it again
I started reading berserk after ignoring my best friends suggestions and reccomendations to do so for years. Needless to say, loved it. I binged it. Finished it in 3 days. Then miura died.
It is not always a happy thing."
Rest in peace, Miura. Hope you found peace in the afterlife if there is one.
Closure. Thank you.
It's hard to get closure with THAT ending, not gunna lie. 364 was amazing but why did it have to end like that... -.-
Even ignoring the amazing story damn does Berserk look beautiful
Guess I'm crying the rest of the day, your thoughts not only make me enjoy more masterpieces like Berserk but they also help me reflect on my own life, thank you and thanks to Miura that gifted us with such beautiful work.
My pleasure, thank you for watching.
I might be at work, but I always got time for an Alexzandxr video, especially a Berserk one!
Always love your videos my dude!! Can't wait to watch (well listen) to this while I work!
[EDIT]
Had to stop every so often to just simply.. enjoy Miura's work as it came on screen.
Glad you like them, and hope you enjoy this!
@@Aleczandxr I absolutely did! Can't wait to see what you make next!
RIP Miura, we don’t deserve the masterpiece you gave us
I love Guts so much.
ah what a beautiful allegorical implication then, that griffith returns in the final panel crying :)
Just re-read 364. Just cried again.
Don’t ever stop analysing Berserk
Guts, like all of us, must find balance between the two sides of himself. Maybe the best revenge is caring for Casca, and trying to live the best life he can. Maybe all of his anger can be channeled into loving those around him. I believe this is still him fighting against Fate because after the eclipse, he was destined to die, and most likely would've descended into darkness. Rebelling against this casual outcome is the epitome of Guts. An integration of the shadow and light within him.
I said I would before, but now I have begun my Berserk reread and my Skyrim replay now. Thank you.
Glad to help, thanks for watching!
My pleasure, so glad that this video is still finding people. Thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful comment as well.
love the skyrim footage in the background very fitting for the narrrative
RIP.
Id like to think Berserk has a happy ending.
One of the best written and illustrated stories in history, where it proves to be so much more than Dark Fantasy. Thank you Miura, for creating this masterpiece.
The Peekaf story always gets to me... I can't stop thinking about it for a good while.
I like how you included manga panels instead of anime clips for this video
This gave me a lot to think about when i reflect on my life
Your videos are always a treat. Although incomplete, I believe it is one of the greatest works of fiction out there. Thank you for this.
You’re very welcome!
Hope you recovered well.
*Guts's theme starts playing*
Me : *tears*
Perfectly fitting for Elden Ring.
Aleczandxr has blessed us once again
He struggles no more but we have to go on
Just when I was checking out your old berserk videos this week I see you released a new one ! awesome !
So we may not be strong enough to forgive and forget but we should always have the courage to move on
Many thanks for maiking this video
This and all the amazing quotes hit me right in the feels
Well.. since this is the end of Berserk. I'd say Guts and Casca settled down in the magical forest and lived happily ever after.
They more than any characters deserve it.
Rest in peace Miura.
Your production quality is 🔥
Thank you, glad you think so!
I appreciate this video and all, but it made me cry for 30 minutes straight. Thank you.
My pleasure!
RIP Kentaro Miura.
They might finish the story one way or another, but there won't be any more of his drawings and that is the saddest thing ever.
guts should just apologize to his boyfriend.
Very good video as always. Thank you!
Thanks and my pleasure!
I welcome this video with open arms. Your narration particularly suit this atmosphere and it was almost ASMR to me my friend. Thank you 🖤🖤🖤
You’re welcome!
I’ve been waiting for this video for years😂
Oh damn LOL
Exactly a month ago I saw this video watched the first 3 minutes paused it went and read berserk finished and now here I am to finish the video 😂
Cant wait to watch your Berserk videos. Im currently at the end of the Black swordsman arc and Im having a blast
@@michaelyu6250 yeah 2 chapters into Golden age and I already see this becoming my one of my fav manga
BOOM im back baby
Great video. Always enjoy hearing your perspective.
Thanks!
I always enjoy your analysis. Thank you!
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoy it.
Guts is nothing more than a human, and thats why we love him so.
Really missed your videos on berserk brother
I have now finished my Berserk re-read and Skyrim replay.
Hirohiko Araki (creator of JoJo’s bizarre adventure) stated about his creation of Jotaro, that his idea of a hero was a loner, someone who would help despite any glory
Beautiful video.
Thanks very much mate.
