  • The timelapse film features the pristine bortle class 1 night sky filmed from Hanle, in Ladakh. Located at an altitude of 4500 meters, the night sky comes alive at this remote and hostile location. Here the Milky way casts obvious shadows. The timelapse features the HAGAR, MACE and HCT telescopes of the Indian Astronomical Observatory at Hanle.
More than 500GB of images were taken over 9 nights. The cameras were powered using power bank throughout the night for night to day shots. The temperature was sub zero and plummeted as low as -8 degree Celsius. The sub zero temperatures, very low oxygen level and the dusty environment makes it very challenging to film at such locations.
