The African and African American community has history of if you go to therapy, you are weak. WRONG taking that leap to start therapy takes so much strength.

I think couples believe the love they have for each other will sustain the relationship, when in fact love is not enough. I believe it’s your personal demons that you bring into the relationship that will ultimately tear it apart. I see this time and time again. I know every couple is not perfect, but it really looks like these two women are hurting as a consequence of the actions of their husbands - who seemed to have brought their personal vices into the marriage. I wish them both healing and restoration. 🙏🏽

Very VERY gooood conversation! Love the point that Shafondra made about her therapist explaining how instead of being a victim we should recognize how we co-create our own experiences and from them learn those necessary lessons about OURSELVES. Love. it. ❤❤

I so think this episode should have been a full hour. This conversation was very transparant but soft and real at the same time. This was amazing to watch and very encouraging to seek outside counsel, for me preferably Godly, with a licensed individual and be ready to do the inner work. Thank you Codie and Tommie!

The guy in white knows all the correct rhetoric but he isn't ready to implement what's being said. His wife is hurting and laughing and repeating mantras of "its ok" isn't going to heal the scabbed wounds. I feel for her though... bc she what's him to step up. But, until he stops holding back, the issues (whatever is causing him to hold back) will continue to exist. I pray that he gets to a place of vulnerability. Sir, she is your safe space, your best friend and your confidant. She won't leave you if you open talk abt said trauma(s). Let "it" go and get the healing. Shalom🙏🏼

This is why I want a man spiritually, financially, and emotionally on a higher level than me because I don't want to have to carry or baby my husband's struggles he must be mature and totally leading with Christ Jesus in front and center. If not, the enemy will creep in!

"Jesus" is NOT enough. Therapy is a professional modality that is used to undercover blind spots and more. Try driving at night with your headlights OFF and ALL mirrors covered. Nooooo people, let therapy be the LIGHT. Folks use every other professional modality and have raggedy marriages because of the "let Jesus fix it" mentality. My Jesus loving former spouse was married twice more after they abandoned OUR children and family. Take your Jesus loving self to a professional licensed therapist!! Amen, church.

i feel terell. therapy aint for everyone and it is hard to find a good therapist. its so annoying to have to keep switching therapists and tell people you dont know all about your life. its exhausting. i think he was speaking on trying to find ways to self heal and i think that is just as good. it is harder but i think its admirable and requires patience. someone should do an episode on how to choose a therapist especially finding black therapists. i feel like its only recently ive started to see more options. i know therapy for black girls is a good site database to start search. but what are things to look for and where to look etc etc. and shaforndra talking about that spiritual healing in the end so good. i think thats a part of healing thats often left out in ttraditional therapy that needs to be addressed often
