Really Sooooooo Niceee tutorial what i was looking for.. So perfectly you have said everything.. And i am able to understand everything properly.. Reallyy So Muchh Thank you.. keep doing like this & Give us new new videos like this properly .. Thank you soo muchh...
That's great to hear. I'm glad the videos are helpful. Good luck in your studies, and please feel free to ask questions here or suggest topics for future videos!
Fun idea. And I really appreciate the problem solving you did as I'm sure I'd do exactly that and wonder how to fix it. Why does putting the text and border into a group solve the problem? Shared the video.
Hi Leslie, thanks for sharing the video and for your great question! Normally when you enable the Knockout option on a layer, like a Type layer, Photoshop will punch a hole through any layers between the Knockout layer and the Background layer. But if you place the Knockout layer into a layer group, Photoshop will only punch through the layers in the group. It will stop at the first layer below the group. That's why, in the video, it stopped at the image on "Layer 0", since "Layer 0" was below the group. I hope that made sense.
Thank you very much! You were explaining very understandable and simple! You explained even mistakes and errors. Thank you once again! Subscription and like from me!
Doing it all exactly but when changing the opacity in the layer to knockout=shallow and opacity 0% I don't see thru the text but see gray and white boxes as though the main image not showing thru.
Thank you so much for this video! As always, so professional and explained in a clear and perfect way. Amazing. Thank you for all your videos and for the inspiration! Fantastic!
I did everything mentioned here step by step until up to the point where you free transform the finished text. When dragging the top and bottom handles inward towards the text to resize the border, it shrinks the text till it disappears. How do I solve it? Thank you for your help!
I have done it with an another method but i did nt understood it. I saw it somewhere :P.. 1. First layer is main image(unlocked) 2. Second layer i made to multiply some colour to that image. 3. Third layer is an ellipse. 4. The fourth one is text layer which i wrote on the ellipse. Then i created a smart object by copying 1st and 2nd layer and put it on the top then i selected that layer and drag that layer to the text layer by clicking alt simutaneously. And bam i got same results. Please explain how that happened ?
Holding Alt (Win) / Option (Mac) and clicking directly between two layers is a shortcut for creating a clipping mask. It clips the top layer (or smart object, in your case) to the layer below. You can release a clipping mask using the same shortcut (Alt / Option-clicking between the two layers).
I can't get this to work. Following every step carefully multiple times. When I lower the fill opacity (blending options) to 0, the text AND the image below disappear. I am adding text over top a collage of many photos all grouped together. I'm thinking this may have something to do with it of I have a setting somewhere that is off. Can anybody help? Is anyone else watching this in Sept 2019?
Are you using Photoshop CC 2019? Adobe changed the way Free Transform works in CC 2019. To move a handle without moving any others, you now need to hold your Shift key as you drag the handle. Dragging a handle without holding Shift locks the aspect ratio and moves all handles at the same time. I have a full tutorial on using Free Transform in CC 2019 on my website: bit.ly/2BPrWR5 Hope that helps!
You updated this video with the fix at the end, but not *the accompanying article* at www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/transparent-text-area/ It leaves out the crucial transparency step -- which I found on a competitor's site. Perhaps you could update the article as well.

Did you watch until 4:12?
I had the same thing happening to me!
Amazing by all means. Thanks a lot
Can you put transparent text directly on the base image so that it shows whatever is behind the image (for printing on clear transparency)?
Very Nice, thanks

Excellent! Thank you!
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for.
Every time I get to the knockout blending part, it turns my text white instead of translucent. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
your background image should be locked.
@@ren.1686 I have the same issue and it still doesn't work.

I love you! Thank you for this!
unable to swelct multiple layer after layer0 process
Tks
When I get to the free form so you can do it around the text it wont let me. wants to keep whole thing proportional. A locked ratio
Adobe changed Free Transform in the most recent versions of Photoshop. You now need to hold Shift as you drag a handle to unlock the aspect ratio.
I can't get this to work. Following every step carefully multiple times. When I lower the fill opacity (blending options) to 0, the text AND the image below disappear. I am adding text over top a collage of many photos all grouped together. I'm thinking this may have something to do with it of I have a setting somewhere that is off. Can anybody help? i just tested and its working fine. maybe your layers are not in the correct order.
I did this over and over, but it didn't work for me. All i got was transparent text ????
I don't know
My ctrl+T is not working properly
I can't trag one side of a square or something
It's reducing 4 sides
Pls help
