      I'm learning on Bass. I want to learn Combustion, Electric Red, Bleed, Lethargica, and Obzen and play them as one piece. I've already learned Lethargica. The one thing I've learned is that Meshuggah is cheese masters and their songs are simple but written in a way that makes them seem insane

    • @Oilid
      @Oilid  6 років тому +1

      LOOOOOOOL! Yes, you can't be more right! :)
      Good luck for all those songs, I'm planning to learn them too, but I started with my favourite ;)

    • @ragefuel6285
      @ragefuel6285 6 років тому +1

      I started with Lethargica. i'm at the point where I can comfortably play 100% with the song but I'm doubting right now whether I can play it from memory. The 'verses' throw me off when trying to count them. I'm going to learn ER > Obzen > Combustion > Bleed

      @@TheImprovisations When a guitarist says "triplets" in the context of a riff like this, they are always talking about gallops. Reverse gallops like in this song or Raining Blood or Battery are notes played in groups of 3 as 32 32 16 notes, regular/"foward" gallops are 16 32 32.

    I find as I'm trying to learn this that I really emphasize the first downstroke to help me keep time. However, I almost feel like that's sacrificing some of the speed as I'm overexerting my wrist. Should I keep all the notes at the same emphasis and be more relaxed to help me get the riff up to speed?

    • @Oilid
      @Oilid  4 роки тому +2

      Hello.
      I tried both.
      I prefer the relaxed way, even if the 1st note "punch" can help.
      Maybe you can alternate between both when you feel you're losing speed or stamina?
      Thanks for watching and your comment.

    Can you play it full speed? I see you have a circular movement of right hand pick, which makes it very difficult to play like that. If you look at original Meshuggah's session video, they play it with a straight wrist motion. I found it much more stable and powerful. I've also been playing with a circular movement, and have to learn the new way of doing that.

      @alphaclean3364 4 роки тому

      Push the mids hard, turn bass and gain down and amp presence up. Treble wherever it starts to bite and articulate. Meshuggah use Lundgren pickups which are super tight and punchy for single string rhythms but they separate tones hard and don't sound as buttery thick and delicious for chords like EMG'S will. Everything is a compromise.

    Can you tell me about your M80M guitar? I want to order one but a little suspicious of the build quality since its Indonesian. Hows the fretwork? Is it smooth and even and not sticking out of the fretboard? Hows the sustain. Does it keep tuning well? How low can you set the action? Overall, does it feel like a quality guitar?

      Actually I can't answer you because I never had to touch the trussrods.
      The neck NEVER moved!
      I know there are 2 titanium truss rods. I didn't notice a particular key.
      Anyways, every "goodies" is included (solid gig bag also).

      Ask your shop to check it before they send it.
