Hey Gang,
This is going to be the final video of 2023. Thank you all for such an amazing year we truly appreciate you all. See you in 2024 :).
Thank you Robert.
Thanks Robert I appreciate all the guitar wisdom from you!!!
Thanks Man .. I love your channel .. It's like so chill but also so awesome .. Good combo
That edge of breakup tone and the boosted tone sounds so good. This is a really nice amp. I didn't know I needed one of these amps until now.
"You're going to hear a good guitar player... for a change".... You rock Robert. You're as good a guitar player as I've ever seen anyway.
Agree! Baker made solos are 🔥
Yeah!
Yeah don’t sell yourself short. You are highly skilled and make some amazing melodies.
Sounds good to my ears.
yes on longer form!!
Yes, please keep putting out videos like this! I very much dig the 'behind the scenes' stuff and interviews and show & tell. Keep 'em comin', Robert!
I could listen to this conversation forever. I love the science of sound.
I know 3 things about amps, power on, adjusting knobs, and playing through it, and I either like it or hate it. Interesting hearing someone who knows so much though
That Novo guitars shirt is nice!
Baker always has great tone…it must be a gift!!!
Nice!! Sounds great. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.
To me, Shawn and yourself share similarities. He's a scarily good player, but also seems like a humble modest dude about how good he actually is. You're mini-Shawn.
I think I'll remain happy with my G20.
The G20 is a great amp!
Love the video! Thx Robert!
This amp sounds great! But that's why I still prefer the Dynamis 7-40 tone. I love that the red channel on it is more modern. It's definitely not the Generator's red channel but it has a similar mid bark. It's what ultimately sold me to the Dynamis 7-40 as well as it's Fenderish clean tones.
But edge of breakup is definitely NOT where I live. I need a pristine clean tone and my Dynamis 7-40's clean gives it to me. In my band I need clean-clean, crunch, distortion and lead and the Dynamis 7-40 excels at all of those. With my Strat, the clean channel remains clean with volume up to 2 o'clock (using the normal input) which is plenty loud for me. I actually have it mostly at noon (volume) when playing with my band so even my PRS and my Tele remain clean.
The red channel is very loud on the 7-40 and the Dynamic and Contour switches make it very flexible. Almost like a 4 channel amp. Perfect for me :)
If I was looking at a new amp now I'd really look hard at the G50 instead of the D40 although I really MUCH prefer the Generator Red channel to the Purple which they decided to go to with the G50. I really which they offered a G50R version or something... ;)
The second I saw the yellow tape, I knew what was up ❤❤🤘🤘
This video shows why i always thought if must be nice to be Tom Scholz. He knew what he wanted to hear and could just build it. It must be nice to have a good enough relationship where you could do everything you tslked about here. Very cool.
This kind of vid opens a whole new world to me. I’ve never considered the difference between a 6L6 and a 6V6 tube. This kind of info will be huge in considering my next amp. I’m just a meat and potatoes kind of player… if it sounds good… buy it! But never really knew what I was looking for. This helps. Great job! Peace out Tube style… boump boww!
Definitely loved this video!
I'm so looking forward to try out the D40!
You sir are indeed a great guitar player. You always get awesome sounds and consistently deliver the goods!
Dude you are one heck of a guitarist 🎸
Mr Robert just pick up your 80s course im 56 and played for years and loving the 80s scale you teach, ive been stuck as most in minor pent and its so nice to have some new rosds to travel happy new year brother thanks for all your musical help
Thanks so much for getting the course. Glad it’s helping out 🎉 Happy New Year
you're too humble bro!
Cool!!!Thanks!!!
I got shelves to hold the pedals like those at IKEA
Good stuff!
Can you do a vid on baritones?
great vid Robert
Sounds fantastic something I'd love to play and practice with.
That Les Paul is really cool too. Did you get to play it? played it over the summer great guitar.
Interesting. Tells me I am a long way from the level of identifying such tone nuances. But that is fine. Something to look forward to. I saw two Duesenbergs hanging on the Waal. Nice.
I love my Duesenberg guitars!! Good eye!
Awesome amp!!
Great presentation
I'd love to watch that Novo video. Please make it!
Nice!
Interesting stuff, great to see.
Yeah that Was COOL!!!
I have to admit, the clean tones on this head had more articulation and definition that I had expected..
Excellent intro 💯🏆
Sounds good to me! Cheers Robert!!
How do you attain a specific sound that applies to every room you play in? They all sound different.
You two guys crack me up!! Love the video Robert! That amp sounds incredible!
You did an amazing job with the Iso man. Next time i'm down that way we should all grab lunch.
@@RobertBakerGuitar Thanks man! Shawn and I had alot of fun building that iso. Lunch would be fun!
What, the first crate 4 knob single 12" 60 watt?
Now do one of these with Buc/Uncle Larry. Please.
Tubbs is the man
What your not going to offer me a chance to win this amp??? lol great video bro!!!
Hey Robert. Do you know what speakers he is running in the Bogner cab?
Hey there, that cab has Celestion V30s.
Thanks Shawn. Loved the sound you were getting. I also have that cab, and really like it with V30's@@ShawnTubbs
Too Funny, at first, I thought boy Robert Baker can play just like Shawn Tubbs. But i think you are a fine guitar player in your own right. Shawn seems like such a cool guy it would be awesome to hang with you guys. Although you would probably cringe if you heard me play. Been playing since I was 14 and I'm 61 now I should be a lot better but I never did music exclusively for a living.
brother...im from texas l;ike dime......ive entered every contest you have had for a guitar....watched all your vids....asked for even a broken guitar...brother man....as dime would say...blow me up w some something man so i can sing your praises...i can tell all the other guys and gals on here that ol bobby baker delivers to those who cares...come on bob i love yas man
You need to give one of those away... ;0p
Got a cpl questions.....
🤘🏽REVV RULES 🤘🏽
Where is the guitar? Bareeta guitar?
rob rob robert rob rob robby rob
It;s almost 2024 and that boy still aint right
Good amp sound and Shawn seemed to be continually fiddling with settings. I noticed an obvious change in your picking. We must speak to that in the future.
Very well done indeed!
19:27
Thanks so much for chiming in! There are times when I do indeed consciously change my pick angle but in this case, I was just doing what I do.
I wonder...... I never see anything about Line 6 amps.....do you not like them? And tell me in a few words please......how do you describe..... to someone who doesn't play.....or whatever, the sound of Reverb........reverberation you know?
Boat anchor..though it in the fireplace
You’re good Robert, the thumbnail drew me in. But I’m not interested in a Revv amp.
Just a heads up, but the days of the $2000 tube amp head are gone. Every 6 months or so, the digital tech in this industry doubles. In a very short while, that tech will be so good that players will not be able to tell the difference between the digital units and the real thing. So, who's gonna want to lay out $2000 for a heavy, hot, temperamental tube amp? For my sins, I do love my Marshall Plexis and Fender Bassman. But, they're dinosaurs.
I have digital units and software plugins that sound just as good, if not better, than the real thing. I can dial in the tone of a $250,000 Dumble without the cost. The amp market is not going to compete or survive by producing such expensive tube amps. They have to give players a reason to want to buy a tube amp vs. a digital solution that's far cheaper and just as good. Not to mention the convenience.
I play gigs now without any amps. None. I use two amp pedals, TC Electronic JIMS45 and JIMS 800, with an AB box with a TS, compressor and wah. It all goes direct into the PA and our in-ear monitor system. Why would I ever want to carry around heavy amps and cabinets ever again?
FYI, last week, I sold a Matchless 60w and a pre CBS strat. I used the money to buy stock in TC Electronic. ;-)
Please, don't pretend you can't actually play the guitar, sir!
Agreed, 100 percent. Robert plays for keeps.
