The confirms, the neutral, the decisions, the optimization, Akutogawa just seems like a good player all around while utilizing Manon's char mechanic in their gameplan perfectly while not relying on it. Manon not broken but they are bringing out the potential that she does have.

6:00 Small correction - stMP DR into crMP is a true blockstring that leaves you +3 OB and in HP command grab range, which is 5f start up. You'll always beat mashed buttons there. Her stMP DR into light command grab also beats mashing. Her stMP is also hit confirmable. Really its her best button and this dude knows how to maximize it.
So do you need to do an invincible reversal to get out of it ? Or only invincible super gets you out
@@problemsnearyou8899 you can jump, back dash or do any invincible move but pressing buttons is not an option, I labbed a lot of situations like that to stop people from mashing

@@problemsnearyou8899 There's no real safest option per se. A backdash will get beaten if the Manon goes for a button instead of a command grab and you'll eat a combo, and if you jump they can still anti air you in time. Her anti air forces a knockdown and its sort of a guess again. I learnt how to deal with Manon when I took her to Master and you just have to make a read/guess based on what the situation is and what can net you the least damage. Remember that the Manon also has to guess that you wont jump/backdash/super/OD DP. But experienced grapplers will usually check with buttons first to see your habits and then hit you with the grab when you least expect it.
Honestly the fact we can watch a "low tier" character controlled by a player with just god like fundamentals beat top players and hit #1 almost a year in for me just shows how good SF6 Vanilla is. Capcom deserves more credit for this.
That's the most fun I have watching SF6, tbh. That's why I find matches of people like Snake Eyez owning high-tier characters with Gief so amusing. It is such a high level of expertise being shown by these players that, more often than not, their fundamentals and reactions are much better than those of the others, so no matter which characters they are playing, they always seem to have the upper hand.
@@k00LTV agree! Watching Broski give mena good work at Kumite was one of the best watches for me and I’m a big mena fan. The lines between the tiers are blurrier than most fighting games in SF6 and it’s great. I think most times we can always count on skill expression of the player outperforming the power of the character.

@@Dev_Astral Less focus on footsies and less interesting combos. Di is a great example of something that distracts from the actual fighting imo, it's something you can get a lot of mileage out of at low level but is used infrequently otherwise and yet you still have to be ready for it at all times. Even if you are ready it can still turn the battle unexpectedly.
As for combos, they are kind of what got me into SF4 to start with so it's sad to see them increasingly become meaningless and oversimplified to make them more friendly to new players. There are a few flashy combos still but none of them are really useful or worthwhile.
Overall there's just more RNG in the game to offset the skill gap that existed before and you can feel it.

Manon is a solid character..months ago I was watching high level Manon's play and they would be doing well and inevitably go for a command grab and get blown up.
Knowing when to command grab with grapplers is a skill in itself
@@Yoloslides grappler have unbeatable offence, their issue is always defence. If you have good defence as grappler then you have high chance to win. I think that is why zangeif, jamie and manon are seen as bad characters. they require you to be really good at defence to have create opening for grapples.

@@weaponx8263i mean that normally is how it goes. I don’t think Manon will climb tier lists, but we don’t know a lot of things in Fighting games until putting stuff together. Rashid and AKI looked meh until Rashid won a premier and people started seeing AKI’s potential through Hikaru ans Broski. Sometimes a really good player is what it takes to reconsider approaches

People need to realize just because a pro player dominates with a character doesn’t mean the character is s-tier. The character dominates because the player playing said character is really good. His game knowledge and patience and neutral is what’s mainly taking these games. Manon is still mid tier at best and needs some buffs. Stop having the “X is broken cause (player) won a tourney with them”. All that does is make the player look less impressive than they actually are
Honestly I was more entertained seeing this video that just about any other SF6 video, i love seeing a player figure out something nobody else has figured out. This gameplay is "sick as heck" !

I think he’s just optimizing with her move set. Sweeps and neutral combos that can lead to an insanely harmful grab is optimal. But he’s just on another level as a player

Anyone able to confirm if these were matches via console or PC? Not taking anything away from the player (seems like they are rock solid w/ fundamentals) but I get curious any time someone suddenly appears in the top online tiers. He does “not” appear to be using any DI/DR scripts but some of those confirms were ridiculous. If it’s a console match then that’s extremely impressive.. kudos to Punk for showing some love!
Imagine this guy after the patch, in which maybe manon will be buffed and top tiers like luke and deejay will probably be nerfed!! I wish he does well in a big championship soon. =)

How does he hit confirm the st mp? Like how do you react to that and drive rush?
Practice with cpu on random guard then try to do it while playing matches even if you are messing it up on block you are still plus and safe so it doesn’t matter too much
At the very end of season 1, someone sheds new light on Manon.
If other people can mimic this playstyle, it may shift the tier perceptions

Even before this video, I’ve thought Manon was much stronger than people were letting on. Her neutral is really good and then when you mix that in with her command grab, she can be a nightmare to fight. Her only problem is that her drive rush isn’t good and since that is such an important aspect of street fighter 6, people ranked her low. But this character is one or two buffs from being completely busted in the next patch. Mark my words.

I think the people are right, because JP is still very relevant. Even if she went even in most matchups or even won a few, that matchup in particular i think might be one of the only 7-3s in the game, and on that alone her being tournament relevant will always be unlikely

I understand high MR does not make you authomatically evo Champion, but if you are THAT high and you stay in your bedroom, away from big money, most probably you are a good player that uses PC because he can run scripts on it and get there.
Bruv chill, not everyone gets to travel 24/7 and has time or resources to enter every major tournament. Some people just do it for fun or when its convenient for them. Or, like the most of us, they play online because its convenient. Akutagawa does have tournament history against some of the strongest SF players of all time. Look up 2014 Topanga B League, he played Dudley back in usf4
