Couldn't agree more, bend the rules of tradition on the side of safety. In today's world with distractions like cell phones and such, I would put turn signals on the car. It's a beautiful car would hate to see it wrecked. Matt- Mojo Speed Shop and Lounge
Admittedly many genres of hot rods to choose from, Iron Trap, you get the nod for period correct traditional builds, stuff younger guys can learn from and hopefully appreciate. cheers.
If you’re going to drive it, which you will, you need turn signals. The people saying it’s not period appropriate probably aren’t driving old cars on the streets anyway. The car is looking great!! Cheers!
I like the concept. I would like to have seen them up closer to the body. Not so far as to see them obscured from a side view behind the tires, but a little forward and higher. Moon can walk in front of the camera any time he likes. We all like Moon!
Agree, not one close-up. I would have liked to have seen the welding seams and finished unit held in the hand and then installed close up. Otherwise, cool!
The lights look great. I did something similar on my 32 sedan. I moved them a little further back (towards the front of the car) and made little brackets that dip under the frame rail. The 37 lights look nice and suit the car well. I used aluminium cake trays as a reflector and improve the lights. For UK viewers Tesco custard tart trays are ideal. I showed it in one of my videos. Mart.
Looking good! I remember having to learn the hand signals to get my license.. Same thing for a bike license. Regardless, you're right about people, lol.
Anything that improves safety and usability is acceptable (to me). Also think of juice brakes as a big improvement over mechanical brakes. Your car, do what you want so long as it is Moon approved.
The tail lights look jazzy! Also slick has been the music that has been used in the background of recent videos. You must have a great stock music subscription. I do miss your theme music on the beginning of your programs. 4 years ago when I found your sight, I was in the hospital with out-of -control afib. Whenever one of your shows came on, the opening music and the show content had a relaxing impact on my heart rate and blood pressure. The medical staff monitoring my vitals came to call it the "Irontrap Effect."
'27 tail lights for the win! Always felt these were aesthetically the best, leaving the rear panel untouched and smooth! Zephyr tail lights are super cool also, but damn near impossible to find NOS! Placement is perfect! This car just keeps getting better and better (not ruined)! Also, thanks for working with me on the Thickstun, love it! Got the intake bug and in the last month got a Sharp (from you also), an original Fenton 2x2 from RAC, and just scored an original Navarro 3x2! It truly is an Iron Trap! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!
Hey Matt, the '37 tail lights look GREAT on the Ruined Roadster! Great job fabricating the mounting brackets... it all looks wonderful. I'd be happy to be seen driving that one!
Tail lights look great, the black lacquer frame and accents go perfectly with the dark green body paint. BTW, Moon is welcome to walk through the shot at any time, makes my day to see that pup.
T H A T LOOKS T I T 'S..... I LOVE IT, AND NOS STUFF, NO BETTER STUFF OUT THERE! Built like it wudda been back in the Day! Nice Job Matt. BTW..... I'll be advertising for you with one of your T Shirt's out here in California soon as I get it. THANKS..
Yes, install the turn signals! I installed them on my 46 Ford 1/2 ton pick-up truck. Period correct or not it's a safety modification!! Nice job on the tail lights, they look really great!
If you were wondering where that piping came from you used for the taillight stands I'm almost 100% sure it is one of the OEM heater hose tubes from the 5.9 Cummins diesel motor you put in Big Red. I double checked the video of Steve putting the radiator in Big Red and did not see those heater hose tubes running along the top of the motor just above the injectors/exhaust manifold.
Lights look in character with the look of the car. Good idea to have incorporated turn signals. It will not detract from the look you have here, and obviously in this day and age, they are needed. Can't live in the past in this respect
What a tasteful and sleek mounting! This car is really turning into a sweetheart - not a jalopy, it's the kind of car an enthusiast with a job would drive and still be presentable around town. Perfect for your stable. I love the perfectly shitty "arrested decay" originals like the Schroll and the Arden, but the near-stock cars have a great look, and you'll have the Free-T, Sweetheart Roadster and '38 convertible as customs. You're a great teacher of each style! Keep up the great work, Gang!!!!
Always loved the 37 tail light treatment on a hot rod. Ignore those mouthbreathers, turn signals : save lives and hot rods! On to the license plate bracket. Your trad roadster is hardly ruined it is righteous. Refer to her as so!
Looks good. "In this day of age," you need the most illumination possible. Are you going to use LED bulbs? A friend used stock 12 volt taillights mounted on his 215 aluminum Buick powered red '32 5 window, low mounted it was difficult to see the turn signals and brake lights. His 1980 full fendered street rod made it to 2009 until a teen driver rear ended the left quarter, wasn't looking that low. Being a plastic mold designer I thought to build a mold for a larger diameter auxiliary lens to fit over the standard lens made of red transparent Lexan resin using cast in light pipe technology. Longer screws would replace the existing ones for extended driving, upon arrival the bright overcap would be removed and standard length be installed. I had machined the tool steel mold for the second gen Valiant tail lights (vertical) in 1962 and a light pipe for Philco radio (Ford-Lansdale, Pa). Legal implications kept me from producing the light extending lense.
The tail lights fit the build perfectly. Considering the average IQ of most modern drivers, it would be foolish not to have turn signals. I’d wire them in without hesitation…
Been a subscriber for over a year now and love what you do, thanks! One thing I would like to see in the future is more up close views of the work. I know this isnt some Hollywood production, but a more detailed look at what was done would help understand better from a viewers point of view. Just a thought. Again thanks, the lights look cool and period. I like things looking original, but with a modern upgrade.
Matt what is the laws for running with out any fenders, in California it’s 1500lbs so many hot rods had to run front fenders of some sort for street legal.
Hey Matt, I like your show and what you do with the old Forge and with the hot rods how can I find a hot rod or a nobody forward like you’re working on or to make a roaster out of it just like you’re doing😅❤🎉
Matt. Is there a better way to fix the lights on other than those big nuts and bolts? Could you have tapped the bracket. I know you won’t want to use Torx bolts but there must have been something slimmer back in the day. I’m not being critical but it kinda spoils the nice lights.
If you wanted to be truly period correct you should've gas welded it. Jk...I'da tigged it too...but even as late as the early 80's gas welding was still quite prevalent in the auto body industry. We barely covered mig in trade school 1979 but we spent half a day for a semester practicing gas welding and brazing.😊 lights look killer btw.
The tail lights look great. Another small victory. Don’t listen to the naysayers. Turn signals are a must in today’s world.jmho.😊
Couldn't agree more, bend the rules of tradition on the side of safety. In today's world with distractions like cell phones and such, I would put turn signals on the car. It's a beautiful car would hate to see it wrecked.
Matt- Mojo Speed Shop and Lounge
The taillights look perfect on the car! Definitely add turn signals - sadly the only hand signal people recognize these days is the middle finger 😆
Perfect addition. Better and better.
Those lights look sleek !!!!!
😊
Agree! And it looks like Matt kept them far enough in to avoid stones that could be kicked up by the rear tires.
This rod is really coming together, beautiful touches are part of that.
Very cool addition to keep the look of the ruined roadster!!
Admittedly many genres of hot rods to choose from, Iron Trap, you get the nod for period correct traditional builds, stuff younger guys can learn from and hopefully appreciate. cheers.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHARE YOUR TRUTH!!!
Never underestimate an ol boy with a welder and a scrap pile
It is the little details that make this car stand out.
If you’re going to drive it, which you will, you need turn signals. The people saying it’s not period appropriate probably aren’t driving old cars on the streets anyway. The car is looking great!! Cheers!
They look like they belong there. Nice upgrade.
I like the concept. I would like to have seen them up closer to the body. Not so far as to see them obscured from a side view behind the tires, but a little forward and higher. Moon can walk in front of the camera any time he likes. We all like Moon!

I'd lend a helping hand, but I live over a thousand miles away,😂 big thumbs up, I've been watching you guys for years now.
This is coming out to be a real gem.
Good looking simplicity, I love this little roadster
They look perfect...great work as always
Beauty in simplicity.
Very nice and not like everybody else. Always happy to see Moon’s walk on parts in the episodes!
The lights look great. I did something similar on my 32 sedan. I moved them a little further back (towards the front of the car) and made little brackets that dip under the frame rail. Thanks for the tips Mart
GREAT VIDEO MATT!!!! ATOTALLY AWSOME UPGRADE!!!!
Can't wait to see what you do with the tag.
Nicely done. 😊
And thank you for making the vehicle safer via turn signals.
I think they look great.
Smart move putting turn signals on it, as you said there are too many people that have no clue about hand signals.
Came out beautiful and that was a great idea using that coolant pipe!
Great look and nice fabrication!
Maybe they didn’t need to be so big? But you are the expert. I bow to your knowledge and skills.
Looking good! I remember having to learn the hand signals to get my license.. Same thing for a bike license. Regardless, you're right about people, lol.
Anything that improves safety and usability is acceptable (to me). Also think of juice brakes as a big improvement over mechanical brakes.

LOVE the taillights and their placement is perfect! GREAT JOB Matt!
Thanks for watching!

Damn! This car is looking fine!

Haha thanks for the purchase and glad to hear we infected another person into this stuff!
Hey Matt, the '37 tail lights look GREAT on the Ruined Roadster! Great job fabricating the mounting brackets... it all looks wonderful. I'd be happy to be seen driving that one!
Thanks! 👍
Nice work Matt!!! The 'ruined' roadster sure has great look 🎉🎉
Looks excellent. When the wiring is done, we'll need a twilight reveal of them plus the headlights.
Looks awesome 👍🏻👍🏻🏁
They look fantastic. Fits the car perfectly 😊
THANKS..
Thanks for the shirt purchase!
Yes, install the turn signals! I installed them on my 46 Ford 1/2 ton pick-up truck. Period correct or not it's a safety modification!! Nice job on the tail lights, they look really great!
The 32 is looking good!
looks good! taking notes for mine
what a good job and idea !!
Looks great, just like when I was 16.
Great car. Also Moon is a Feature, not a Bug. Heheh. Love that pup.

Haha you might be right!
Lookin good Matt ,love that car ,green's my fav colour
There's a shine hiding on the decklid I think

Looks great 😊😊
Moon is part of the crew - like seeing him...oh, and the taillights look bitchin!
Ya gota love Moon! He wants to be a part of things also.
Brilliant in all aspects.
I like the look. I had a 32-chopped and channeled with a DeSoto hemi back in the day. But I love these high boys!
ROD AND CUSTOM RENISANCE!!!!
Perfect look !
LOOKS SHARP!
Those look great .the whole car is cool
Nailed the taillights! Now I have to redo mine. (Crap)!! LOL
Love it! Another great job and video.
Very nice, great looking car!
Good job on the taillights.......
Always loved the 37 tail light treatment on a hot rod. Ignore those mouthbreathers, turn signals : save lives and hot rods!
On to the license plate bracket.
Your trad roadster is hardly ruined it is righteous. Refer to her as so!
The taillights look great. I wish however that you’d shown a closeup .
Very nice, like those lights.

Nice Work. Looks Good.

Bitchin' !!! Now for some billet wheels & neon graphics !! 😂
That thing is looking too good. ❤
The tail lights fit the build perfectly. Considering the average IQ of most modern drivers, it would be foolish not to have turn signals. I’d wire them in without hesitation…
Look good nice Matt
Excellent!
As always, just right
The 37 tails are cool.

Very nice , I like !
Proper gear heads always have goody boxes and someday metal piles. Weird bits and saved trips.
Looks great! A little vulnerable. I would have went with solid against the fame. Thumbs up anyway 👍🏻
Perfect look! What are you thinking on the license plate holder and light?
Probably something that attaches either above or below the spreader bar
Great job on the taillights !! MLNR JIMMY53
I am pleasantly surprised at your taillight choice. I put '37s on my '32.
Dude!!! Great job!!! Johnny law would prefer you have signals✌️
Nice
I like it it's simple

Those are stock style spreader bar bolts. Sort of what I used them. Only other option is maybe a carriage bolt.
Nice video. Need a Plasma machine.
small plasma table is needed i feel, cut down on time with brackets like these
It looks like on my screen, that if the car gets bumped, the lights be the first thing to get smashed.
If the car gets bumped I’ll have bigger things to worry about than the lights.
Wonder how the taillights are going to hold up to the gravel rash the tires are going to throw up on them

Stand-off from cowl light might have worked?
Shape would have been wrong but they possibly could have been an option.
Moon s like ill be in the air con shed
