A couple of months ago I was approached by Banggood.com to see if I'd be interested in checking out some of their woodworking tools. I was, and I produced a video at that time, and they have again asked if I was interested in more. So here is another look at some more Banggood measuring tools.
So full disclosure; what you see in this video was provided to me at no cost by Banggood. However, they have not had any editorial control over the content of this video. Also bear in mind this is a first impressions video, not a detailed review after months of use.
To Sum Up: they are sufficiently accurate, and quite moderately priced. The challenge is that most of their tools are metric, which makes sense as most of the world uses metric. Us folks in North America are the weird ones. So you have to look hard to find tools marked in inches, and even then it is usually metric on one side and inches on the other side, which is not always ideal.

Good review, thanks. Not a fan of dual metric/imperial markings, but you can't beat the price. All my tape measures are imperial. Dual measure is annoying, and lumber in North America is sized to imperial measurements. Also, I don't think I have ever seen a metric tape measure at the stores here.
Just ordered a machinist square. I had been looking for a specific type, and amazon and most of the other tool places didn't seem to stock them. Total came to under $15CAD so not a big risk to try it out.
Hello Art
I sometimes buy from Banggood and find their products a good value for the dollar. I do agree that shipping can be quite long, one time it was so long that I had forgotten that I had an order with them
Keep up the good work
See you on your next video
Inch is easier to devide by 2/3/4/6. Metric is good to devide by 2/5. I work with both systems. For woodworking, inch is my primary system.
Slowly converting to measuring in metric, have a tape measure with both, so I measure in metric and confirm roughly in imperial. Slow but it's getting there.
Factor a Meter for equal whole integer spacing, then factor the whole integer equal spacing in a foot and yard, or just the yard. Isn't metric for those who can not multiply and divide by 2?
I love your humility, "If you think I've earned it, consider subscribing"
The world needs more humility.
I also so appreciate this.
I plan my wood in imperial because that is how they sell the wood. I have found that often, doing small layout work for joinery in metric is more relaxing for me. I work almost exclusively with handtools so I don't have to deal with machines that are calibrated in the annoying system.
is the woodpecker square really in a different class ?? price or quality wise ?
price, for sure. Never owned one so can't speak to quality.
@@Wordsnwood 😂 lol definitely price. I’ve seen other reviews that say it’s price and price alone for this particular item. Great video
Woodpecker they are not but they are in fact a Chinese knockoff of Woodpecker products I own both and the differences are there! Cost wise Woodpecker is for elitists and beyond the budgets of most of us. I like the honest reviews you do on products
I try, thanks!
Having seen several videos on Bangood products, I am torn. There stuff appears to be decent quality at a value price point. That is a good thing. They are however a Chinese company. It is my opinion that we should be trying to reduce our usage of Chinese products. This is especially true for medical and national security related items (which these Bangood products clearly are not). I'll stop now.
Fair points, thankss
Another good video Art.I have been looking at some of the Banggood stuff. These videos of yours help me out with my decisions. On another note-we are very strange measurment wise here in Canadian woodworking! Where else and in what other category can I go to the store and buy a four foot by eight foot by 18mm piece of material?
If it was fully imperial it would be an easier decision.
I use white-out painted on the etching then wiped off the surface. It works really well.
great tip!
Almost tempted. Could you please show us their whole product line?
As much as I would love for Americans to buy American products. Capitalisms exist by way of competition. We vote with every dollar, and we almost always vote for more affordable, less expensive, greater quantity at lower cost, bang for your buck... and so on. And unless we suddenly become patriotic as a country, (not likely), China will be able to out sell and out market any Western producer.
Its a weird economic balance. We want better wages and living conditions, but that also means higher production cost. Consumers will only pay so much before they are willing to compromise their ideals.
I watched an interesting video on why economy class flights are never going to get better and a lot of it comes down to the same thing. if airline B has the same flight for $5 less, but with less comfortable seats, people will still flock to the cheaper option.
the small triangle square would be good on the bandsaw or drill press to check the table
Agree. good idea.
Are you the new SnapOn guy(person)
Don't have any SnapOn tools either.
Thanks Art!!!
glad you found it useful
