Thank you very much for uploading lots of memories there. One of the neighbors drove a ERF B series Steetly Tanker. Regular sightings of Turner Brothers, Barlow and Hodgkinson, R.H.Stevens, Laport, Hinkley's and other Tankers. I Lived up in the Peak District near the A6 between Buxton and Bakewell, even had lifts into Buxton with some of them. I remember around the the late 1970s struggling as a 10 year old with parent to climb up into a Ancliff Scammell crusader tanker ....worth it though! Fairfield road was the best place to spot all these haulage companies barreling back and forth between quarries, happy days.

I'm 99.9% sure the the Tate and Lyle Guy Big J8 at 4.37 was part of the Liverpool fleet and I used to maintain it as part of the workshop staff in 1980! It had a Gardner 6LXB in it, 6 speed box and single drive rear end with a trailing axle, it was one of two based in Liverpool. Absolute pig to manoeuvre into a tight spot. In its last days it was driven by a real gentleman called Peter Leacy. Great photo, so many memories...
I also worked on the Mercedes 1619s Tates had that appears earlier on, but that's not a Liverpool motor pictured, Liverpool got their first an only 3 in 1980. Drivers hated them, actually preferred the Leyland Buffalos they'd been glad to get out of!

I remember the T&L drivers used to get paid "Diplomacy Money" to wear a tie with their uniform and not swear in public! We had Mickey mouse Fodens in Liverpool right until we closed in 1980. They were too old to be sent elsewhere in the fleet so they got sold off to local fleets like Langtons.
