That treatment is everywhere and you have no idea how someone like me love having you speak up for women. Thank you a million times over for helping me feel normal and justified with my frustrations and feelings 🌱✨💐
I've had it said at me many times that words can not hurt unless you let them, but it takes a very long time to learn how to manage our emotions around our self worth. I struggled for years with my weight, and the Drs couldn't tell me why. I've always been an athlete of some sort, so it was hugely frustrating to me to be constantly dieting to even remotely maintain, let alone lose weight. I've also had it made clear to me all my life that I'm considered a person of Colour, so if I've not been racially abused, I've had someone commenting on my weight. My ex couldn't understand why I wasn't thrilled at being told 'I love you, even though you are like you are now' when I was in tears over having not found anything to wear for his brother's up coming wedding. Totally different to the man I was in a casual relationship with afterwards who said to me, when I stupidly apologised for having gained some weight 'Don't do that. You are wonderful, and there is just a little more of you for me to enjoy.' These days I don't care what other people think of me, but I have the luxury of being 48, and I've been through many things that have brought me to this. I'm of the opinion that it would have been a far easier, and shorter journey if only other people hadn't been so vile towards me.
Critics make me want to scream sometimes as they themselves never view themselves critically and see if what they are writing is actually fair or even accurate. Then I just sigh. They aren't worth my energy. You are. You who bring laughter and joy into so many lonely lives. You who show we do not need a man, kids or any of that to be ourselves and be worth something not to mention be happy. Thank you for still being here brightening our days.

That kind of ridiculous, arrogant judgement and pointless physical scrutiny is one of the reasons , I think that more women don't go into public life. So, it does create a loss to society, in inhibiting women from participating fully in politics and other high-profile arenas. Also, those of us who choose not to have children are NOT child-LESS, we are CHILD-FREE!!!...More biscuits for us.
