The one where the goal posts were torn down was when we finally beat alabama...truly the greatest moment of my life ...Tennessee volunteers...we say GO VOLS!!!!
University of Michigan won the National Championship for the 2023 season! They also have won over 1,000 games…the most wins in American football at any level. Michigan’s stadium is the largest in the USA and 3rd largest in the world. Their fight song is consistently rated the most stirring in the country.
Bama has far more championships using whatever metric you choose. It's all about the rings, baby. And Notre Dame claims the most famous fight song although it has pretty much the same chord progression as Michigan's.
At 12:34, the team is the Florida State University (FSU) Seminoles. The chant the fans are doing is called the Warchant/Tomahawk Chop. FSU won the national championship in 1993, 1999, and 2013.
You are right about distances. University of Oregon is about 300 miles from Seattle, and about 500 miles from San Fransisco. So, in a lot of cases, I'm sure distance to pro sports is a factor. Though, I think the main thing is just a huge tradition of supporting university sports that goes back before professional was a thing.
2:12 Go Vols, i live in Knoxville, Tennessee . The orange and white checkerboard in zones. We took down both goalposts when we beat Alabama. Most college football stadiums hold any where from 70,000 to 110,000 people in the stands 10:15 the song they are songing was actually written about Tennessee not Alabama. 10:45 Clemson Tigers, where Trevor Lawrence went
Did You ever watch Animal House? It was filmed on Oregon's Campus. Greatest College Movie Ever...........that song being sang by the crowd, is from that movie.
The roots of American college football go back to the late 1860s, it didn’t become a pro game until the 1920s, so a lot of what you’re seeing is established in traditions that span generations
One thing you have to keep in mind is that most of our states are comparable to European nations in size. But a significant number of states don't have a professional team. College is it for us. Imagine having no pro teams in great Britain and having to go to France to watch "your" team play. That's reality for a lot of us. Oklahoma University (122 m /197 km) and Oklahoma State University (148m/237km) are way closer than Houston (435m/700km) or Kansas City (312m/502km). Now admittedly, Dallas is "only" 200 miles/ 320 kilometers away, but I HATE the Cowboys
Even though baseball is considered America's pastime, football, at all levels, is truly America's sport. Local high-school games on Fridays, college games on Saturdays, and NFL on Sundays. And we cannot get enough. We examine and argue and speculate during the off-season and bathe in the sport during the fall/winter. NFL is truly more popular but the college games are an experience. Not just about the game as much as the school pride. Just fabtastic.
Alabama's is Dixieland Delight by the group Alabama. For the longest time it was baned from being played at the stadium because of the adlibs that were added in by the fans. The administration agreed to let us bring it back if we changed to adlibed words to more "family friendly" lyrics. It worked, for the most part.
The college game is much older than the NFL and their traditions were developed organically, over time, by region. There are 32 NFL teams and the highest college division has some 130 teams. Of the ten largest sports stadiums in the world, one is in North Korea, one in Australia, and the other eight are American college football stadiums.
These are BIG stake games. Please note, NOT all atmospheres are like these in USA college games. I am from Wisconsin and Badger crowds are boring and no way do they enter like this all the time. As far as attendance and the long held traditions and passionate fan support, then yes college is bigger than the NFL. There are over 200 college teams playing football, and 125 of them are like the ones you watched in this video. Don't miss out on the school bands performing before the game and during the halftime intermission...actually, the bands help with the cheering and the celebrations of good plays.
Don't feel bad about saying Soccer, it was the British that invented the word. Since in the U.S. Gridiron Football is much more popular than Association Football, we just use the British word for the latter. Calling 2 different sports football would be confusing, even though both descend from Medieval Football.
Hey Chatwin...I remember a few years ago when you did music reactions (I had subscribed), then you seem to have disappeared. I liked your reactions (especially Pentatonix)...SO, what happened ?? Will you ever do music reactions again....there's been tons and tons of Pentatonix videos which would knock your socks off !! Whatever your decision, I wish you well.
You hit the nail on the head. Many states do not have a NFL team so an entire state will adopt the flagship state college team and everyone in that state lives and breaths that team
Most of the Power 5 teams have huge stadiums, some seating over 100,000 people. And they're packed every game. No NFL stadium comes close. Try planning a trip for like 2 or 3 weeks and stay in south or the east coast where teams are more clustered and try going to a different game every weekend.
As a season ticket holder for Virginia Tech, the quality of football may not be Alabama or Ohio State. The atmosphere that is in person is unmatched and if its a thursday night game nothing compares. I live in Georgia and can't ever make Thursdays games anymore so let me know if you ever come to the US. I got 4 tickets that you can definitely use.
One thing to keep in mind about college sports its that most of the people in the stands are students. Some universities have tens of thousands of students and alumni that are diehard fans of their schools.
@ChatwinReacts At the highest level programs tickets are discounted but not free for students. Also no, the big crowds are not mostly students. Alabama has 38k students and a 103k seat stadium. The student section is only 17% of the stadium.
@@ChatwinReactsin some states such as those in the American south such as Alabama , college football is the only thing in town so that’s why those fans are so passionate
All universities are colleges but not all colleges are universities. These schools are all universities. Oregon does not have a pro NFL team so in states like this college football rules. Also some states are so large that the NFL teams may be a long drive to see so again local universities will get more local fans.
@@ChatwinReacts Autzen Stadium in Eugene, the home of the Ducks, while seating a relatively small 54,000, is the fourth loudest college stadium in the country at 127 decibels.

Yes college football is bigger than the NFL in terms of popularity. Attendance averages about 85,000 whereas the NFL stadiums are typically built for about 75,000. In the southeastern conference alone there are four stadiums of over 100,000 seats a Michigan stadium is the second largest in the world. These college stadiums particularly for the larger schools were built in the 1920s and 30s and added onto steadily to reach their current size. Professional football really didn’t get going until the first half of the 20th century where is college football has been played since the late 1800s and has grown steadily. There are multiple divisions of college football based upon school size and team quality but there is no relegation. College football really came into it’s own when the networks bought the television rights involving hundreds of millions of dollars.
Colorado is all hype this year because " Prime Time " Sanders , who was the king of hype when he played , is the new coach there . Don't believe the hype .
You do NOT need to watch last years National Championship. It was the most lopsided and boring championship I can remember. Also Tennessee fans get so excited when they beat Alabama bc it rarely happens since they suck so much ass. ROLL TIDE!!
This is THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN STADIUM KNOW AS "THE BIG HOUSE" which has had attendance of 115,000 college football fans! There are only 32 NFL TEAMS in the USA. There are 767 College & University FOOTBALL Teams in the NCAA, spread over all 50 states, which is 24 Times more teams than the NFL. DOES THIS GIVE YOU PERSPECTIVE ON College versus The Professional NFL😂
“Can withstand 30-40-50 thousand people is nuts.” Most of these stadiums hold between 65k to 110k people
What I came to say lol
I laughed so hard when you said 30,40,50,000 people lmao 🤣🤣🤣, it's 80,90,100,00+ every week rain or shine win or lose

Ya'll should see the High School football games round here in Alabama. ❤❤
I always say go to an NFL game if you want to watch the best football, but go to a college game if you want to have the best experience!
You go to an nfl game for a fun day. You go to a college football game to watch football.

Yes run down the hill through the stadium.
Friday night is high school footballs, Saturday all day is college football and Sundays (and Monday Night) are NFL football games. ;)
At 3:20 if Tennessee has a big win they tear down the goalposts, carry it out of the stadium, and throw it in the Tennessee River
