Wow! I'd love to have your Sega Saturn Collection. 😍
Some of these games look shocking which is annoying Considering the Saturn's power at the time
Great video mate 👍
Cheers man 👍Every console has it's bad games. Sadly the Saturn had quite a few, but just as many belters.
Really enjoyed this vid mate. Reminded me of segments we had back in the day on tv shows. You have to do more of these style of vids
Glad you enjoyed it mate. I'm already hard at work on the next one.
Great video boyo, some real intriguingly poor titles in the mix haha I remember playing Blazing Dragons back on the PS1 way back when.🔥🎮🐲🍀
Cheers man, every console has it's bad games and sadly the Sega Saturn has more than a few. Blazing Dragons was the only game here that I would say nearly approached being any sort fun.
“Trash it” seems like an interesting idea it looks it could be good maybe adding phisics to the buildings and stuff in maybe a more modern way and stuff
They really screwed up in the controls department, that's where it all comes apart. With a bit more work it could have been a half decent game.
Don't forget Bad Influence on ITV for games news with andy crane & that short haired blonde Yvette lass, loved it
Violet Berlin if I recall correctly.
Oh man how could i forget bad influence. I remember seeing the Super Nintendo in a TV for the first time on that show.
Looking back, Iron Man/XO was truly a disappointment on several levels. It’s quite rare that we get a collaborative effort from two comic book publishers on a comic book series let alone a video game! Could have been something special.
Under any other developer I'm sure it would have been a good game. Acclaim wasted so many good comic and movie licenses back in the day.
So you guys in Britain didn't get Virtual Hydlide? Weird. You got Keio Flying Squadron 2! That wasn't released here in the States!
Yeah, sadly we did get Virtual Hydlide complete with all the extra 50hz yuckyness. I remember really wanting to like that game when I was younger, but we all know it was total rubbish. The only reason I didn't mention Virtual Hydlide is the magazine I used to find the lowest scores didn't even bother to review it.
@@NottsGamer I'd still rather play Virtual Hydlide than Fortnite, at least VH doesn't bully you into spending your life savings on loot boxes and in-game currency! At one point during the run-up to Christmas, I heard that V-Bucks were a more popular Christmas present request than physical games! You can imagine how enraged I was!
Keio Flying Squadron 2 was a 2D game. And guess what games Bernie Stolar hated and refused to allow to be released for the saturn in NA?
@@Canadiansamurai The Saturn was my daily driver in the late 1990s. I'm painfully aware of what Bernie Stolar did to this system and its fans.
"Iron Man / XoManowar" was too fun to deserve a place on this list! The hit detection was pretty awful, but the fact that it was a two-player platformer made it a ton of fun as couch co-op. Me and my brother put a lot of time into that one. "Hulk: Pantheon Saga" deserved its place here, though. So did "Criticom", though I'm not sure that was released in the PAL region.
I will have to try Iron Man out in co-op. We never saw Critcom over here but after watching a few videos on it I can see why you would want it on the list.
I always hated Hardcore 4x4. Definitely the worst Racing game on the Saturn (Hi-Octane being 2nd). Also, Bug. Maybe not the worst game ever but the character was incredibly annoying.
Hardcore 4x4 is definitely up there, man that game was terrible and very broken.
what would you do if you find out that for four years a man has been sneaking into your house at night and very carefully playing all the games in your sega saturn collection, quietly, disturbing no one and causing no harm, and then quietly and respectfully leaving before you or anyone else in your family even notice him? would you allow him to continue or would you intervene somehow? and how?
hello? please respond.
sir can we get a reaction, your fans are waiting
To be honest I may just have to grab another controller and join in. Fancy a blast on fighters megamix?
@@NottsGamer hell yeah bro, let's do this...this is gonna be the beginning of a beautiful friendship
I actually don't hate Iron Man and XO Manowar in Heavy Metal. Lot of fond memories of playing that game co op with my younger brother.
Sega Saturn Magazine doesn't come off exactly clean when they complain about not getting a review copy and suggest that games that they don't get review copies of get worse scores. There's a reason why Consumer Reports buys all the products they review.
SSM were just tetchy because they had to pay for a copy. But sadly it still didn't stop the game from being as bad as it was. If Rage software had spent a bit more time honing the controls it could have been a half decent game.
Don't understand how Blazing Dragons is on here! Its no masterpiece but its still quite fun and as a kids adventure game it serves its purpose. I certainly had a lot of fun with it as a kid. There are a lot more worse games on the Saturn...
I was a little shocked that SSM gave the game such a low score. I'm not a fan of the game myself maybe it's because I didn't play it when I was younger I don't know, but you're right the Saturn has much worse games.
I loved Trash-It growing up with a PS1. I've not touched the game in over 26 years. Maybe time to try it again without the rose tinted glasses. Only thing I remember was how frustrating a lot of the game is hidden behind such a lovely and fun idea.
It could have been a fairly decent game if the Rage had used a better control scheme. Maybe they did for the PS1 version, I may have to look out for it now and do a comparison.
Having been a Saturn owner as a preteen (and still am today), I remember Sega Saturn Magazine and Saturn Power very well! One of my main beefs with the Saturn (and even the PlayStation until the Bug's Life game came along) was that compared to the 16 bit consoles, it didn't have many kids games! However, I had no interest in the Blazing Dragons cartoon series because it aired only on Citv (when it was new, that is! It had a presence on then-satellite only channel Pop in 2004!) and by that point, I had ditched the basic 4 channels as we now had Sky and now had Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, TCC and (from October that year) Fox Kids, but if I continued watching free TV alongside Sky channels, I might've enjoyed the Blazing Dragons cartoon and while the Saturn/PSone game may not appeal to adults, I think kids might really enjoy it! Compared to SSM's 23% review score, Sega Power gave it eighty-something percent! Also, due to how few kids games the Saturn had (outside Japan at least), Blazing Dragons is a purchase I feel can be justified as much as Casper and Space Jam! Casper I think is genuinely a good game, and while Space Jam may not be the best basketball game on the 2 big 32 bit systems, I feel some fun can be had with it and for the most part, they did what they could with the license! Yes, Sculptured did make a better Looney Tunes basketball game for the Super Nintendo, but because all my home consoles pre-Xbox were either Sega or PlayStation (I switched from Saturn to PlayStation in 98 because... I'm sure you can figure out why), I didn't know about that game until years later! (Still, I think Space Jam on the Saturn vs. Looney Tunes Basketball on the SNES might make for an interesting Console Wars episode!)
I'm so glad my introduction to Iron Man was the mid-90s cartoon series and NOT the AWFUL Heavy Metal Saturn game!
I bet Pantheon Saga would make for an interesting Just Bad Games episode if Rerez is short of ideas for future episodes, the ghost of the money wasted on it would have a field day with him!
In 1995, when the 32 bit era was getting started and the Mega Drive was still our console, my Mom did offer to get my brother and I a PlayStation, but I said no and insisted she get us a Saturn instead! Probably NOT the wisest decision I made, but anyone who went from a Super Nintendo to a Nintendo 64 would understand the mindset I had at the time!
Wow You had some stinkers there 😂 They should have named the Hulk game, Is the incredible money grab 😂 The only thing you will be smashing in that game is the controller, Don't think I would be playing any of these games ever , This video was great you play them so we don't have to, Would love to see more worst games on other systems from you, Especially as I haven't even heard of these games
Honestly mate, Incredible Hulk is the worst game ever committed to disc. I still have recurring nightmares about having to play it for this video 🤣 I do like experiencing old 💩 games though, so who knows what's next.
I've been looking for this Zelda-like (top down) RPG for the Saturn I played. It was reviewed with fairly mediocre to bad reviews but I enjoyed it yet can't find it anywhere. Anyways, thanks for this video!
The only two RPG's on the Saturn I know fit your description are either Shining Wisdom or Story of Thor (Legend of Oasis in the US) both were great RPG's.
@@NottsGamer I'm pretty sure it was Shining Wisdom, I watched a video that had 5 second clips of every US release of Saturn games and it looked the most familiar. This was a rental I made many years ago and never finished it so now trying to... extinguish this old flame! Cheers mate!
@@drbeavis4211 I'm glad you found it.
Why would you do this to yourself?!?! The only one I had heard of was Dragon Heart but these all looked terrible! Okay the art for the dragon point and click was alright but if the comedy is terrible than what’s the point?!?!
Yep they are all bad games, well Blazing dragons could have been better if a) the game was longer and b) the puzzles made a little more sense. But if you want some point and click action on the Saturn check out Discworld instead, It's much better.
@@NottsGamer I need to play Discworld!!! I have the DOS version downloaded but need to sit down and play it!
@@bundjohn Do you have ScummVM installed? That's the easiest way to get it running. And you can play dozens upon dozens of other point & click classics with it. Oh, and the only two channels I've ever stumbled upon on YT that focus on bad games and stuff are Ashens and Octavius King. Must be a British thing ... 🙃
I liked that menu screen with the fart noises. But, yeah, the rest was total crap.
It's sad when the menu screen is the highlight of a game.
Hardcore4x4 should have been on this list...
That and virtual Hydalide. It's unbelievable that Sega Saturn magazine gave Hardcore 4x4 76% I smell a bribe right there. It was an awful game.
Trash it is a good game if you play it with more than one player I use to play that game with a multi tap with my brothers
And blazing dragons isn't that bad
Agree, Blazing Dragons does not belong on this list. Its a fairly decent point & click adventure with some pretty good jokes. Here in Germany it got mostly mid-high 70s ratings which seem far more in line. Same for the rest of Europe. 23% is nonsense and just sounds like a reviewer who did not like the genre. Which can happen.
To be honest when I looked up SSM's worst reviewed game I was a little shocked blazing dragons was so low down. I mean I'm still not a massive fan of the game myself but the Saturn has so many other bad games that deserved to take that spot instead.
That Incredible Hulk game looks like a crappy cross between the unreleased Sega 32X game X-Men Mind Games and the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four movie.
It's crazy that XO is so expensive these days. It was on evey discount rack in America back in the day.
Disagree with having Blazing Dragons on this list. Its a good point click game imo
Blazing Dragons was the better of the 5 games but to me it is a very short and rather confusing game. If I'm being honest, while making this video I thought of more than a few Saturn games that I would personally rate far worse.
if it'll make you feel better, Sega Power gave it eighty-something percent!
If you are going to play it, play it on the playstation. You can use a mouse. Better than using a controller.
@bit-ishbulldog2089 is not actually true. The ps1 version did not have mouse support
@@GreatHealer. I'll test it, I have a copy and the official playstation mouse.
with a title like "Trash It" I see why you had to make a video where you included it. Sometimes you can judge the book by its cover, most people do anyway.
So SEGA didn't allow Shining Force III: Books 2 & 3 outside Japan, but greenlit these steaming turds on this video?
For shame...🥺
Yeah SEGA really dropped the ball thinking westerners didn't like RPG's. We could have had some truly amazing games localised too.
Great video mate 👍
Nice one, Thanks 👍
Enjoyed that mate, you definitely picked the 5 worst pal Saturn games
Have you got a motion tracking camera?
Cheers man, they are deffo some of the worst. I can think of others that are worse but SSM didn't cover them. Yeah the motion camera is new and quite handy indeed.
virtual hydlide laugh slienlty
I wondered what should be THAT bad on Iron Man. And then you called Blazing Dragons the second worst game on the Saturn! What a load of BS!
There are some genres i just don't like: JRPGs/action RPGs (Zelda etc.), strategy/business sims, adventures, RPGs, flight sims, RTS (C&C etc.), ... But there often one or two games that are the exception of the rule: Soleil (Mega Drive/Genesis), Kaiser and Tennis Manager (C64), Leisure Suit Leo (yes, LEO) (C64) and Blazing Dragons (Saturn/PS).
I really liked this game when i had lend a Saturn for two weeks. It's funny and easy enough to get somewhere in the game even if you are not into adventures. I watched a friend and a cousin of mine playing Zak McKracken and Maniac Mansion on ST and C64. Was entertaining, but nothing to play by myself. I didn't play BD till the end, somewhere i got stuck. But i liked it that much that i tried to get a cheap copy when i had a Saturn myself.
Blazing Dragons is a great p&c adventure for beginners or people who want a nice, funny game for a quick snack. It's definitely NOT bad!
I bear Hulk as a kid and liked it, but don't remember much of it
Hahahahhaahha the ending 🤣 Hulk WHAT! That has to be the worst retro game ever made! Looks like a 10 year old made it lol This and The worlds worst colour palette game doesn’t even deserve a review score 😂 This was pure class 👏 Loved the voice overs from the magazine lol Bring us more Notts!!
Yes mr Tulk! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm already hard at work on the next one. But this time not with so many bad games.
I remember having a blast playing co op in Ironman-Manowar w/ my brother..it does look like trash, looking at it now...starting to wonder if it was the ps1 version, but I doubt that one was much better...I think it was Saturn tho
A few people have said it was fairly good in co-op mode. I'm going to have to try it out now.
Trash It actually looks fun from your review
It really could have been a good game, it was a great idea but the controls let it down big time.
Alone in the Dark?
nice
Thanks
@@NottsGamerI hope you have a good day
good list eheheh
Thanks 👍
Worst games released in PAL territories? Isn't that all of them? Don't the games run 16.333% slower over there?
Depends on the game. If a game been has been properly ported to Pal it will run slightly faster as compensation, so it will run at the same speed as NTSC. Unfortunately some devs got lazy and didn't bother doing this, hence why some games run slower and some don't.
Some PAL games were optimised to run fine in 50hz with no problems. But for all the ones that didn't receive any optimisation installing a 50/60hz switch would solve the issue. Most UK/EU Saturn owners had the switch mod installed just for playing imported NTSC games at the correct speed too.
Games made by EU Devs often ran too fast in USA. Many games are unplayable due to it
