Well, I guess I have to do another understanding in this like I did in Killer in The Mirror. Let's be real. Almost everyone of us wants to be alone, isolated, and generally in peace; away from human interaction. Now look at the theme of the video. Astronauts. Obviously that means they're in space. But what happens in space? Loneliness. And when you're in space, there's no gravity. In order for you to move, you need to make swim-like movements; similar to dancing. That's the title of the song: *Lonely Dance.* A song about how someone feels having to interact with people and being alone in their own space. Now onto the MV. The area the band is in resembles the place an individual would stay (his/her room, for short). The person's condition would be the quartet themselves. They didn't bother being in that place because it's their "safe zone". Even if they were already getting messages that it isn't safe in the outer space at the moment, they ignored it. But as time went on, the quartet starts to experience weird things - much similar to when someone hasn't been outside of their room; completely out of arms reach and no connection whatsoever. One bleeds blue blood, one cries blue blood, and such. This is where the panic sets in. The quartet then tries to leave the area. They tried calling for help, they tried contacting Earth for a distress signal, but they can't as they were trapped by an extraterrestrial being, which was Cody. Comparing this to the IRL scenario, the individual then realizes that they have been trapped within their own comforts and wants to escape. But unfortunately, as they reach for the door to open it, the door didn't budge. It was too late. They were engulfed by their own infected state. The band then suffers the rest of the aftermath. As their lifeless, infected bodies dance with zero gravity amidst the loneliness of space, maybe they should've went back to Earth when they had the chance.

I’ve seen a couple comments about the theory behind this vid and I wanted to pitch in so here goes nothing. Basically he gets overwhelmed by everyone in the space ship with him so he makes a deal that the monster will make them go away. What he does or doesn’t realize (this parts up to you ig) is that the monster means permanently. And with each kill he gets taken over more and more by the monster. He doesn’t realize he’s the one killing them at first. (Hence the flashback later in the vid) and is then taken over by the monster to continue the cycle. Lol that may be 100% wrong but hey thought I’d share!
I actually kind of had the opposite idea. I was thinking that Cody made a deal with the monster - if he killed off everyone else, he'd be spared, but once he's infected, he's a lot more malicious and has a closer mindset to the actual alien. Alright, well I have watched this on repeat since I got on the train to ride home from college for the holiday break and two people have asked me what I was watching. Set It Off now has two new fans cuz they were curious peeps.
This song made me realize how much of an introvert I am cause I literally relate to all of this( minus agreeing to shake hands with an alien that just tried to kill me and my friends)
*to the theme of ghostbusters* When there’s something strange... in the neighbourhood... who you gonna call? *music cuts off* Not Set It Off. Cody will kill them all.
gonna try to explain the plot of this video because i think it fucks but it took me a while to comprehend it properly an alien gets on board the ship somehow and finds cody. the alien offers a hand, which cody shakes, and then reveals itself to be hostile. it seems to leech something from him when they shake hands, then bites his neck. cody gets knocked out, then wakes up possessed or otherwise corrupted by the alien (as indicated by the blue liquid leaking from his eyes) sometime later, the band celebrates the long-awaited completion of their mission, enthusiastic that they're "never doing that again." their celebration is cut short by the ship's alarm getting tripped; one more mission before they're free to go home for good. they arm themselves and group up to search the ship for the source of the breach; cody with zach, maxx with dan. zach and cody see something and make a hasty retreat (i would _think_ it's the first alien, but its never seen onscreen so this is an assumption on my part.) when zach turns his back to flee, cody's possession comes through and drives him to kill zach. there are two ways to read cody's behavior when he starts crying over zach's body; either his hostile behavior isn't in his control and he just briefly came to his senses, or he's putting on a distraught facade in order to keep maxx and dan in the dark. (depends on how tragic you want it to be, i guess.) presumably drawn by the sound of zach and/or cody yelling or calling for help, maxx and dan rush to their aid, but they're too late. zach is dead and cody is in hysterics. they pull him away from zach's body and drag him to safety. dan tries to calm him down while maxx, still reeling from zach's death, strays from the group for an unclear purpose. when maxx returns, he finds dan's dead body. maxx shakes dan, possibly regretting that he couldn't save him or trying in vain to wake him up. afterward, maxx runs from the body; the way he does this makes me think he may have seen the alien and been chased away. if this is the case, it may explain why he limps later on, having been wounded in his escape. maxx manages to force a door open, then collapses against the wall, physically and mentally exhausted. he thinks back to their earlier celebration, not long ago, and seems to break down in despair. when all hope seems lost, he sees cody's shadow in the corridor. he stumbles towards him, relieved to see one of his crewmates alive, only to stop in his tracks when he sees the condition cody is in. whatever has taken hold of him has started to visibly change him into a monster. hope isn't just lost; the mission was doomed from the start. maxx trips when he tries to back up, and that's all the opening cody needs to kill him too. cody then drags maxx's body away and seals it in a small room with the others (possibly an airlock or a quarantine chamber?) and slumps down lethargically. it's possible the possession is killing him, or fully transforming him into a monster.
I mean there are a lot of parallels with the original 1979 Alien movie, you might wanna watch that since it's relatively close. Plus it's like one of the best films of all time
I always felt like the meaning of this song is the fact cody is so insecure about who to trust since killer in the mirror was like “don’t trust anyone” kinda vibes So i feel like lonely dance is that insecurity we all feel when we think everyone around us isn’t loyal even though they had our backs we still push them away because of that sense of i’m going to get hurt which i relate to on a crazy level
Theory: In Killer In the Mirror, Cody sang "There's nobody but me here / The killer in the mirror". Cody ends up being the killer. He knew all along. He just put on a façade to make others believe him, when he was secretly killing others.

I’ve seen a couple comments about the theory behind this vid and I wanted to pitch in so here goes nothing.
Basically he gets overwhelmed by everyone in the space ship with him so he makes a deal that the monster will make them go away. What he does or doesn’t realize (this parts up to you ig) is that the monster means permanently. And with each kill he gets taken over more and more by the monster. He doesn’t realize he’s the one killing them at first. (Hence the flashback later in the vid) and is then taken over by the monster to continue the cycle.

I actually kind of had the opposite idea. I was thinking that Cody made a deal with the monster - if he killed off everyone else, he'd be spared, but once he's infected, he's a lot more malicious and has a closer mindset to the actual alien. But I think your theory is really good. It really makes you think a bit.

Every new song from SIO is like an early christmas gift.
gonna try to explain the plot of this video because i think it fucks but it took me a while to comprehend it properly
an alien gets on board the ship somehow and finds cody. the alien offers a hand, which cody shakes, and then reveals itself to be hostile. it seems to leech something from him when they shake hands, then bites his neck. cody gets knocked out, then wakes up possessed or otherwise corrupted by the alien (as indicated by the blue liquid leaking from his eyes)
sometime later, the band celebrates the long-awaited completion of their mission, enthusiastic that they're "never doing that again." their celebration is cut short by the ship's alarm getting tripped; one more mission before they're free to go home for good.
they arm themselves and group up to search the ship for the source of the breach; cody with zach, maxx with dan. zach and cody see something and make a hasty retreat (i would _think_ it's the first alien, but its never seen onscreen so this is an assumption on my part.) when zach turns his back to flee, cody's possession comes through and drives him to kill zach.
there are two ways to read cody's behavior when he starts crying over zach's body; either his hostile behavior isn't in his control and he just briefly came to his senses, or he's putting on a distraught facade in order to keep maxx and dan in the dark. (depends on how tragic you want it to be, i guess.)
presumably drawn by the sound of zach and/or cody yelling or calling for help, maxx and dan rush to their aid, but they're too late. zach is dead and cody is in hysterics. they pull him away from zach's body and drag him to safety. dan tries to calm him down while maxx, still reeling from zach's death, strays from the group for an unclear purpose.
when maxx returns, he finds dan's dead body. maxx shakes dan, possibly regretting that he couldn't save him or trying in vain to wake him up. afterward, maxx runs from the body; the way he does this makes me think he may have seen the alien and been chased away. if this is the case, it may explain why he limps later on, having been wounded in his escape.
maxx manages to force a door open, then collapses against the wall, physically and mentally exhausted. he thinks back to their earlier celebration, not long ago, and seems to break down in despair. when all hope seems lost, he sees cody's shadow in the corridor. he stumbles towards him, relieved to see one of his crewmates alive, only to stop in his tracks when he sees the condition cody is in. whatever has taken hold of him has started to visibly change him into a monster. hope isn't just lost; the mission was doomed from the start. maxx trips when he tries to back up, and that's all the opening cody needs to kill him too.
cody then drags maxx's body away and seals it in a small room with the others (possibly an airlock or a quarantine chamber?) and slumps down lethargically. it's possible the possession is killing him, or fully transforming him into a monster.
I /need/ the plot of this music video as a movie, with the band playing the main roles in the movie as well
I mean there are a lot of parallels with the original 1979 Alien movie, you might wanna watch that since it's relatively close. Plus it's like one of the best films of all time
after watching this for the first time i thought of the exact same thing and i bet it would make a good action movie

I always felt like the meaning of this song is the fact cody is so insecure about who to trust since killer in the mirror was like “don’t trust anyone” kinda vibes So i feel like lonely dance is that insecurity we all feel when we think everyone around us isn’t loyal even though they had our backs we still push them away because of that sense of i’m going to get hurt which i relate to on a crazy level
