Great episode and reviews Greg! I couldn't agree with you more that we are in an unbelievable age for audiophile vinyl. Who would have ever thought vinyl would be back in such a big way! The Impex version of Jennifer Warnes "Famous Blue Raincoat" is absolutely stunning. If it's not the best sounding vinyl record in my collection, it is certainly within the top 3. Although it's costly, it's well worth it for the sonic experience alone. Thanks for all the great work you do!

Thanks so much, Randy. I am SO amazed with not only the growing number of options, but the amazing sonics we are getting. As you know, not ALL reissues can best the original releases, but, what labels like Rhino, Acoustic Sounds, and IMPEX are doing is exceptional.

I bought "War - World is a ghetto" one of my favourite albums and I dislike the sound. Very compressed and muffled. Its from Rhino..

@@travelllller Hello. You only say, “I bought "War - World is a ghetto" and “Its from Rhino..” So I have to ask which release you are talking about. I have to assume you are talking about one of the two recent LP reissues, and not the Blu-ray Quadro reissue, right?
So that leaves either the 2022 Optimal Media Rhino reissue or the 2023 Record Store Day 5-LP 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition reissue…NEITHER OF WHICH are a part of the SPECIFIC series of Rhino reissues under discussion, the Rhino High Fidelity Series…
Please do not read more into what I’ve shared than what is there! I never even implied that “all reissues” - from Rhino or from ANY manufacturer, for that matter - are equal to or better sounding than originals. I DID suggest that SPECIFIC SERIES OF REISSUES offer excellent performance. While I do find that more often than not, original pressings will typically offer better sound than newer “remasters” and reissues, some of these reissues are very good and offer tremendous sound - and value.
That said, we clearly are experiencing a new Renaissance for vinyl - more pressing plants being built, with more and more companies going back to hiring skilled hands to remaster and cut lacquers. SOME of the reissues we are being offered today are among the finest-sounding LPs you can buy. And even when they are not equivalent to, or in some cases, better sounding than the original pressings, given what it might cost to obtain an original pressing of some titles, in M- condition, these recent releases offer exceptional value to those no willing or able to pay for mint original copies of their favorite LPs.

@@theaudioanalyst I can check later which issue exactly. But it is not part of High fidelity series. I agree, new records today can be magnificient, as long as some research is done before buying. Buying just anything will result in money loss. I for example really liked Tone Poet series. And thanks for introducing Rhino High Fidelity here..I will check that as well.
Still, I still always try to buy vintage records. Recently I picked up Diamond Life from Sade pressed in 1984 in Spain. It is by far the best sounding record of that album, to my ears at least. The OG/vintage pressings of David Bowie are great also. I prefer that classic fat, analogue sound you tipically get from a vinyl record..

I love UHQR packaging. The new MoFi one-step slip covers are problematic.

So, we'll have to agree to disagree. It is the least appealing looking of the other "Ultra" packaging systems on the record shelf with other LPs - sticking out by and inch and a quarter more than any other LPs on the shelf. It is just horribly unattractive and unwieldly.

Rhino Hi Fidelity is only available direct from Rhino. I got the Cars but don't like this method of distribution, especially since they are not very good at it, so am passing on the rest unless something spectacular comes down the pike.

Im surprised you didn’t get the Atlantic 45 rpm Genesis reissues. They are spectacular.

At this point, the Acoustic Sounds version of the Capitol 75th Audiophile Series, the double 45 RPM release of "A Trick Of The Tail," is still showing as a pre-order.

Honestly, it is the only Genesis title that I have on pre-order, as it is my absolute favorite Genesis release... E18: Guilty Treasures: Genesis - A Trick of the Tail - ua-cam.com/video/aY5LSSaDPSM/v-deo.html

I look forward to TOTT too! I figured as a fan of Prog Rock you would be a fan of Selling England and Lamb. Cheers.

@@toddbromgard5211You are correct as to my leanings toward Prog...obviously. But I have perfectly good sounding copies of both "Selling England by the Pound," an early 1973 US Charisma - FC 6060 - Presswell Pressing, and of "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway," an early 1974 US ATCO - SD 2-401, pressed by PRC in Richmond, IN. I just don't feel strongly enough about either title to spend either another $60 for Selling, or, gulp, $120 for Lamb... I hope that makes sense... 😉
