    Commenting to boost that algorithm and say that not only are you a great player, but you are amazing at explaining your thoughts and that's been really elevating my games. Good luck and I hope you get as big as you want as a creator.

    Hey Bobby!!! Nice video as always!!! What do you think about a single copy of Polukranos World Eater in the main deck (in this case, in the slot where you fit Vorinclex)?

      It seems like it could be good against Gruul. I haven't seen that card in lists much since the early days of contemporary Green (right after the Winota banning), but it seems like it'd be worth revisiting.

      @@bobbyfortanely I played it for some time and it is really helpful against aggro matchups, because is basically a board wipe. But it can also perform as a finisher. Sometimes you can clean the board AND attack for a huge damage too. Another point is the CMC 4, dodging Extinction Events from the opponent while we can find it with our storm. And finally it also interacts with a flipped Polukranos Reborn:D

    What do think of the convoke matchup? It sounds pretty bad in my head but I feel like I’ve only seen you win against it 🤣

      The matchup seems close to me. In leagues, my record is 11-7 in matches, 26-21 in games. There's this tension between needing to mulligan to an elf hand, but also postboard Forge Devil can wreck the hands which are dependent on elf surviving. Most of my losses were when Convoke was new though and I was still figuring out how to play against it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    23:00 I think wishing for Burst vs Skysov is interesting here, since Skysov leaves you dead to a Sheoldred and Burst puts you out of range. Something like Karn -> Burst -> attack with Leveler killing Murderous Rider looks appealing to me.

    I like the Vorinclex as a threat in general, but in what situations would you pay to flip it to the saga? I’ve not seen you do it, or seemingly consider it.

      So far, I've valued transforming Vorinclex just below casting or flashing back a Storm. I've played 50 matches with the card so far. According to my logs, I've cast the card 12 times. The software can't tell me how many times I've Storm'ed into it or transformed it, although I think that I've transformed it 2 times. Typically when you have the option to transform it, you're already quite ahead.
      In this video, the main spot where I could've wanted to transform it was at 1:03:40, although I didn't since my library was 14 cards (2 of which were Karn), so I valued flashing back the Storm a bit higher. In the previous video featuring Vorinclex, I think it could've come up in match 5 game 1, but the opponent scooped before I could get that far.
      In the two of the matches where I distinctly remember transforming it though, it was definitely NOT win-more. One was against UW Control and the other was Four-Color Omnath that had an Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines in play. In both of those games, having the ability to transform Vorinclex was the difference between winning and losing the game.
      In summary: it's a good mana-sink to have access to, but the 6/6 + two lands is that part I care about the most.

      @@bobbyfortanely thank you for the detailed response. And for your continued thorough videos on this deck. I find them incredibly helpful and they have helped me to go from just starting to pilot the deck to 5-0 leagues and hopefully playing in at Atlanta.
      That makes sense regarding vorinclex. So really, I'd probably look to flip vorinclex if I'm pretty far ahead and am looking to force the scoop, and don't need this card specifically for the reach and mana. Or in a control matchup where I need more weapons (I imagine the threat of removal of one card was high so milling for two instead was more valuable?). So far I'm definitely liking having the card, particularly for the reach, although I do miss the removal from Cityscape Leveler

    56:20 in the convoke matchup g2 I'm curious about the sylex timing. Would it be better to crack it on their upkeep to hinder their convoke creature if they draw one?

    • @bobbyfortanely
      @bobbyfortanely  Рік тому +1

      This is a good point to bring up. There's some tradeoffs here but I didn't call it out in the commentary. My reasoning for not cracking the Sylex during their upkeep is, in the scenario where my opponent did draw a convoke creature, I wanted to incentivize them to tap one or both of their 1-drops, which might allow my planeswalkers to get to my turn with more loyalty (Loxodon taps their creatures and Knight-Errant of Eos incentivizes them to tap their 1s so that they have mana to cast what they find). I also imagined that it was possible my opponent had been holding a drawn Ornithopter until they drew an enabler (Reckless Bushwhacker, or an Imodane's Recruiter which would give them a reason to cast the Ornithopter), so that was another consideration towards holding off on the Sylex.
      I don't have a strong opinion on which choice is correct, but that was my reasoning in-game. A Boros Convoke expert could probably give us a more-informed opinion.

    At 26:00 I think you did just have lethal. Play Wolf Willow Haven on an untapped land, tap that land, sac Wolf Willow, Karn -2 for Haywire Mite, play Mite, crew Skysovereign with Mite and the wolf token, attack for 14 and kill both creatures.
