    Man couldn't have described the whole project better myself thanks for making the video.

    Love it! Looking forward to seeing your machined XY and Z plates, I had some fun and games machining my own set!

    I was looking around for a mini mill to produce aluminium parts for my 3d printers... so i guess i'll have to 3d print parts for this mill first 🤔

      lol, apparently you need to learn how to machine by hand first :)

    Thank you for the video, seriously considering build one myself, would be nice to not have to travel to my local makerspace for eery little part I need to machine! Are there coolant mods? What is the best way to deal with all the chips?

    What's the advantage/difference of this design over the Openbuilds MiniMill kit?

      @AramcoPhil  Рік тому +2

      Good question, it is based on the OpenBuilds MiniMill, so they are related if you will..
      Advantages over the "stock" MiniMill:
      no V-wheels, uses linear rails instead
      larger work area (both for the table as well as for the Z Clearance)
      better stability of the Z Axis (especially with the optional FMJ mod, the steel side plates)
      better place for electronics (in the base of the machine instead of out in the open)
      support for larger (80mm) and stronger (mine is a 2.2kw) Spindles instead of using a router
      there is an enclosure coming with a seperated electronics compartment, it's on the final stretch
      i am currently working on both tool length measureing and XYZ Touchprobe stuff

      @@AramcoPhil Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Definitely looks like a nice upgrade. I was just watching this review of the MiniMill and he concludes that the MiniMill is just a small router rather than an actual mill. I'm interested in metalworking and need a descent mill rather than a router: ua-cam.com/video/4KVWpFGqT1I/v-deo.html

      @AramcoPhil  11 місяців тому

      I replaced the 2x 260mm ones with 320mm extrusions

    Hi so rückblicken bist Du mit dem Milo zufrieden und würdest den wieder kaufen? Was fräst Du tolles aus Stahl damit?

    • @AramcoPhil
      @AramcoPhil  3 місяці тому

      Hey, rückblickend bin ich sehr zufrieden, ja.
      Aus Stahl fräse ich nicht wirklich was, das waren bisher nur test-Teile zum rumprobieren. Die Fräse is halt zu 98% für Alu gemacht ^^

      Ok. für Alu aus Alu. Wenn das Setup aus Stahl wäre würd das wohl gut gehen... Oder?

    Its not a Milling machine. At best its a router....🤔😳🇬🇧

    • @AramcoPhil
      @AramcoPhil  Рік тому +6

      The destinction between mini Milling machine and router is quite blurred, but with a moving cross table and a 2.2 kw Spindle i'd place it more on the milling machine side rather than a moving gantry router...

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines Рік тому +1

      @@AramcoPhil Okay, it's has nothing to do with spindle power and everything to do with the machines construction. Lightweight Ball Slide machines are not Milling machines and never will be... Irrespective of size I might add ..🤔😳😳🙄

    • @zakariakhamees
      @zakariakhamees 10 місяців тому

      @@EnglishTurbinesUsually, a cnc router is a machine that utilizes a wood router spindle. And it usually constructed as a moving gantry style, so the cutting bit moves towards the workpiece. Unlike milling where the workpiece is moved towards the cutting bit. Usually, mills are more rigid than routers because of that construction style.

      Is a sherline a milling machine? Yes. And the Milo is more capable.

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 6 місяців тому +2

      @@zakariakhamees Correct, but the big difference is the slides and weight of the machine...The other obvious difference is spindle speed. If you want to machine nickel steel or anything exotic, the last thing you need is a weak, lightweight routing spindle with lots of rpm and no torque....As I tried to explain to AramcoPhil here. I doubt he's even seen a real milling machine....🤔😳😏😏😏😀🇬🇧
