You introduced me to Aer some years back, my man. Everything they make is bombproof. I now have….too many of their bags. And I blame you. How dare you.
My wife and I both have a Flight Pack 3 now and it's the greatest edc/work bag of all time. We tried others and ended up buying a second one. It's really an incredible bag. One of those things you buy and just love using every day.
The trifecta of slings Bellroy Venture Sling (smart casual) Aer Day Sling 3 (urban, sleek) Peak Design Sling (camera focused) All could carry cameras, iPad, water bottle and small accessories and all seem highly thought through and well executed.
If it means anything I personally have tried all 3 (well the day sling 2 since this just came out), and my favorite has been the Bellroy. I just love the aesthetic and they still have great materials and smart design choices like the others. Don’t love the warranty but from my use it’s held up well.
Venture sling 6l and DS3 was the hardest choice I had 2 weeks ago but eventually made up my mind and decided to go with DS3 in xpac. Just ordered it recently, I hope I won’t regret it haha. I like the aesthetic of DS3 more especially in xpac. But I know functionality wise, venture is superior.
At 6:30 Chase is talking about the compression straps not being long enough, If those magnetic clasps are just a standard product then you buy a few and a roll of material and make an extension to fit a yoga mat or tripod!
Something to note is there is a built in hidden pouch specifically designed for an Apple AirTag tracker hidden in the main compartment at the very top hidden behind the interior pouch created by the top exterior zipper pocket. You can slide an AirTag in and keep track of your business papers should you ever misplace them.
I get that living thing...but I like to live differently very regularly. That being said - travel means 40L GR2 plus bag for computer (rotates) and a sling (rotates). Spring break was GR2, MR Summit 26L and 1733 Sidepack. Next trip I'll swap in TBB Conceal 30L and Trakke Bairn Cobra. Love having options.
The poorly conceived water bottle sleeve and unnecessary magnet connectors are both misses for me. I'll keep rocking my Osprey Farpoint 40 and wait for the AER Travel Pack 4.0.
Have you ever done a video showing the bag you use to travel and then transition once you are at destination? Would love to see how you pack and transition.
I could be wrong but I think you missed a pocket in the main compartment of be travel pack 3. I think I remember seeing a zip on the side below the smaller mesh pouch on the opening part of the bag. I believe its a pocket that can be opened from the side. It can be seen at 22 seconds into the "Aer Travel Pack 3 - Features Walkthrough" video
@@chasereeves Yeah thats the one. The pocket is really well hidden. Ive been looking at the pictures of the travel pack 3 since it was first shown on the asian website a few days ago and I never knew that it was a think. I know where I'll be keeping all my valuable stuff I dont want people to have easy access too xD
This is a little bit surreal; I started to send you a message about the 2022 Aer products on Patreon about an hour ago, then got distracted by work-related emails, and by the time I picked up my phone again, boom, here’s your video about Aer’s newest updates.👍
Hi Chase, loved the vid! Gonna buy one of these backpacks for commuting/day trips, would you go with the Travel Pack 3.0 Small (25L) OR the Flight Pack 3.0 instead? Can only buy them online here in Australia so buying a bit blind!
I just got the TP3 Small. It's 28L by the way. I would do anything to swap it for Flight Pack 3. (I can't return and exchange it because I had it shipped here in Asia.) TP3 is way too heavy and bulky to be an EDC for a small body frame (about 5") like mine.
I know have three of their bags all in black and now feel I need this one bag for my shoes when traveling. Tired of overpacking my carry on because of shoes. The XPac would be ideal 😂 I have to justify getting this…
Great vids. Have you considered short additional videos (or segments) of you "packing up" quietly and coolly with a full load. You describe it well--what does it look like and for how long to "flight up"? Just a thought--good stuff!
Hi Chase, is there a really compelling reason to go with the X-Pac material vs ballistic nylon? A lot of people prefer the X-Pac look, but it seems a little wrinkly to me and not sure if it's worth the price hike. Thanks!
I'd say personal preference in these bags. The balistic is super durable, I'll wager the grey is as well. X-pac does have better "specs" though. Weight, abrasion resistance, etc.
There are a few key performance differences for me. Water resistance is better and all the zippers become YKK aqua guard on Xpac models, the interior liner is bright orange and it makes finding things inside the bag a bit easier, and it is a bit lighter. If you don’t need these features, 1680D cordura wears like iron and standard YKK zips will be more than sufficient if you get caught in the rain for a couple of minutes. In my opinion, the magnetic hardware all over the place is a downgrade from the Duraflex buckles on previous AER bags but they’re well liked by a lot of people so your mileage may vary.
Yeah me too. I'm actually planning to get the Bellroy Venture Sling 9L instead of the 6L because I can fit my iPad Air 4 in the 9L and not 6L (this is only based on the measurements, never actually tried it myself). But seeing that the Day Sling Max 3 able to fit iPad pro 11 inch, I might just get this Aer instead.
I have the Bellroy Venture 9L, which I love. But it doesn’t fit my iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard. So I am looking at the Day Sling Max XPAC, since I’m hoping it might fit an iPad Pro AND a water bottle 😅 The ballistic nylon model, as reviewed by TheMountainborn and looking at Aer’s one water bottle (but no iPad) product shot, seems a bit tight, but XPAC in my experience often is a bit roomier because of the thinner materials.
I have the flight pack 2.0 and I love it so much. It's indestructible and I've put it through a lot of travel. Still looks brand new and the material is so easy to clean. That being said I don't see any noticeable improvements in the 3.0. Anything you can point out Chase?
@@nikchi it was only at that point that I was confident this was the two Chase, and not a look-alike, and it may have been the best business papers to date 😎
Great video. Weird question maybe, but do you think the Travel Pack would fit 2 laptops in the back pocket? I am often traveling for work where I need my bulky 15 inch work laptop and also bring my own Macbook Air. I currently have a separate laptop bag and the Osprey Farpoint 40L, but I do not like that that holds the laptop in front, away from your back. Having a separate laptopbag makes airport security easy, as everything is easily reachable and close together, but 1 bag would be more efficient, so I wonder if this bag might be the solution.
AER 3 35L or is the PEAK 45 still king? I'm a surfer who travels a lot with a surfboard bag or two and like have a travel pack back to keep my hands free to wrangle the surfboard bags. I want water proof/resistant for boats and tropical rain bouts. I'm down to the Aer or Peak. Ok GO..... THanks man, I love your content!
Does the Flight Pack fit a packing cube? Can you try it with the Peak Design small or medium cubes? Those are known-sized replacements for a banana in the context of bags :)
I'm so disappointed they changed the compression straps on the travel pack... Going over the main zip was the reason I picked the TP2 over a lot of other bags... Structure and security was key :(
oof, that sling really does it to me. I just wish it would be a touch smaller. 4.5L maybe. I'm having a hard time trying to choose between the 3max and the 3. but I would have to go for the max since i cant compromise on not having a water bottle with me at all times. if pakt doesnt release the 5L sling soon I might for this one. also that lining on the xpac version of all these bags is very interesting, although I find that on the bigger bags the standard liner is the better choice. somehow more classy.
While I can't speak for my other southeast asian neighbors. Indonesia is not so serious about the weight restrictions. Size tends to be more of a concern. Even then we're quite flexible, you can get a way with 3-5 kg or so overweight
This is so true! As a small-ish South East Asian, I have to carry smaller looking bags to avoid getting my bag weighed. If I have a "large" 30 - 35L backpack under 5kg, I'll be stopped and asked to weigh my bag. But if I'm carrying a 25L daypack that I managed to stuff 12kg worth of stuff in, no one blinks an eye 😅 (I also stuff a small belt bag and my jacket pockets with things to avoid suspicion 👀)

Really good review, as usual Chase. I love the Aer Travel Pack 3, BUT I wish they had conceived the "travel" section as the one on the Black Ember Forge: side opening, ultrawide mash zipped pocket with side opening, and another internal mash pocket zipped within the front section (top side). That would have been Amazing, adding up some more organisation to our journeys' experience. Keep on moving 😉
Hey Chase! Does the Aer Flightpack 3 stand up on its own? I have the Tech Pack 2, but its too rigid for my uni needs; I need more space....for my papers, LOL

Aer’s water bottle pockets on the sides of their travel backpacks are such crap, surprisingly. I hated the one on my Aer Capsule pack so much that I sold the thing. Seems like it hasn’t improved at all with the new Travel 3 series. Even their cheap Go backpack has a better water bottle pocket. Gonna stick with my Evergoods CTB35 or Tortuga Setout Divide for travel until I find something better (although it’ll be a while... those 2 bags are phenomenal).
I have the Aer Travel Pack 2.0 in X-Pac and love it. BUT, the compression straps overlap the zippers and it sucks to use. Great to see them getting away from that on the new one. I use mine for work travel, and when I get to the destination, compress it down to act as a go-to backpack while on site. Highly recommend this bag. Ohh, one other thing, I'm not a fan of the orange interior on the X-Pac, would prefer a super light grey or white. I know white can get dirty, but I'd still prefer it over the orange. Too SF Giants or Halloween for me.
Do you also use the TP2 as daily carry or just as a bag when you reach your destination? I’m torn between the new 35L size and the small which comes is 28L. My case would be mostly daily carry with the occasional travel w/kids.
