    In this video I'll cover the wiring required to connect the iStone Stabilizer to a standard Rx. Then I show how to use the Detrum 3-in-1 card to configure stabilizer parameters. I also show how to configure a radio to activate different flight modes available on the stabilizer.

    What I really like with this unit, as opposed to a Frsky SxR is you can adjust gain separately from each other, just have to land to do it, whereas the SxR's you can adjust in the air, but not individually. Great little unit, have one in my own trainer. Have set it up as off, on 'wind rejection', and auto level 'recovery mode'. In auto level you still have full stick control, which I have on my momentary switch, so if in trouble, release sticks, pull momentary, that overrides gyro mode, and throttle to 40%. Peice of mind Excellent

    great review adds a whole new perspective to flying some of those hard to fly planes till you get used to its capabilities
    Sbus would be a bonus almost like using it as a flight controller great job

      It does support s.bus. FWIW When I installed the SR86A-G in the Millennium Master I moved the MSR66A into the Mini Contender. That plane is so small, the benefit of a stabilizer is huge. Thanks for the kind words on the review.

    That's interesting that they do a 3 way Y for the AER connections. Less messy / less failure points?

      It's not uncommon for stabilizers to use the 3:1 wire. I've seen that before. The only thing that stabilizer needs to know is the pulse width on a given channel and the only wire needed to convey that info from the Rx is the signal wire. Remember on servo leads the +/- provide power to the servo. The signal tells the servo what to do. The mode switch connection from the Rx is a full 3 wire affair using signal for mode and +/- to power the stab.

    Hi I was wondering the iStone Gyro Receiver which have receiver built into the stabilizer does it bind to 4-1 module?

    Can you demonstrate how to use SBUS? I want to use a cheap (and robust) ELRS receiver.

      ELRS doesn't support s.bus natively. You need to use an adapter.

    Hi!
    I was wondering if you have any instructions for the istone pro stabilizer.
    I can’t find something decent for how to set it up. I want to use it in delta configuration.
    Thank you in advance

      Sorry, it's been a few years and I don't keep instructions around that long. If you check the bitgohobby.com website, they might have something.

    Can you do also on spectrum receiver/TX configuration ? Because i bought Detrum Z3 with 3in1 prog. Card.

      I’m sorry. I don’t own a single piece of Spektrum equipment. So I can’t help.

    Hello - Just to TRY this with my Spektrum DX8 G2 and 4/6 channel receiver, can I JUST buy the iStone v2 Stabilizer WITHOUT the 3-in-1 Program Card? Also, do you know what the DEFAULT RATE and EXPO settings are for the A/E/R?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 роки тому

      You need the 3-in-1 to change settings on the stabilizer. It's not STRICTLY required, but if the stabilizer doesn't output the servos correctly you will be stuck. You need some way to tell the stab to reverse the output of servos. You also wouldn't be able to change offset if needed or the gain.

    Hey man, love your videos. I bought the 8C that came with a couple of receivers including the SR86-A gyro stabilized receiver, admittedly off of ebay for a great price. I know this is not your job, but there are not a lot of resources for the radionm system online, maybe you can help.
    It is bound to a FMS 800MM t28, gyro channels are assigned all of the control surfaces work, but when in gyro on mode, I can hear the gyros working, but the control surfaces barely move when I tilt the plane left or right.
    The receiver is in the fuselage, near the CG, facing up with the pins facing the rear of the plane. I could really use some help with this.

      Did you get a 3in1 programming card? You may need to get in the SR86 and adjust the gain for those control surfaces--especially if you bought it used. There's no telling who may have configured what in there.

      @@RCVideoReviews you can program it right from the 8C, the same way you can from the Blitz

    when I am trimming a plane, how the stabilizer does not misinterpret the trimming as normal steering in save mode (self leveling)?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 роки тому

      Trim and stick movements are not discreet events in the eyes of the stabilizer. i.e. It doesn't know one is trim and the other is stick movement. Trim is nothing more than a modification of pulses at neutral. Of course the most ideal scenario is that you use no trim. Some autopilots like Arkbird highly recommend using mechanical adjustments to eliminate all trim on the plane. In practice, I've never bothered with it on stabilizers because once a plane is trimmed for straight and level hands off, the stabilizer can accept that hands off input as the desired state of the plane (which it is). Even on RTH equipped planes like the Millennium Master--with which I just posted a video showing RTH--I don't bother mechanically zeroing trim and the RTH has worked fine.
      Finally, I don't use stabilizers like these for precision events (navigation). I only use them for wind rejection purposes which simply is not very precise. If I did use them for precision events like long range BVLOS FPV, I *might* invest the time mechanically zeroing the trim. I've flown Eagletree Vector equipped planes with software trim for some distance and trim has been a non-factor.
