The most interesting, entertaining and totally heartwarming human being ever to appear on UA-cam. You know Evie is going to give it to you straight, no nonsense, she's not going to sugarcoat it, she tells it like it is, if you can't handle it that's your problem, for we are all in the presence of monumental beaming greatness.

As someone else with severe Tourette’s Evie, let me just tell you this,
You have spread so much awareness and love, about Tourette’s, which is something not many can do. You really do make a difference,
So on behalf of me, and many others I’m sure, thank you :)

I’ve recently been diagnosed with “probable” Tourette’s. It’s something my mom thinks I’ve always had, but was never disruptive until the past year. Echolalia and echopraxia are definitely my main offenders. I had no idea there were different kinds until I started watching your videos and listening to your audiobook!

Had to pause after the sponsor section and write to you.
I'm 51, bald, don't live in the UK. The sponsorship message was over 3 minutes. I watched the whole thing! So impressed that a company is offering such a personalised service for shampoo, and the points that you hit on (no animal testing, fragrance free options available, limited chemical inclusion) were, I think, quite persuasive. If I was in the UK, I'd send the company details to my wife so she could try.
Impressed with the idea behind the product, impressed with the presentation from you. And your hair looks amazing in this vid! Have a good one :)

My husband has adult onset Tourette’s! He didn’t start ticking until he was I believe 21 and we were so confused because we thought he couldn’t have Tourette’s unless he showed signs when he was younger

    • @BubblesBear17
      @BubblesBear17 2 роки тому +4

I was litteraly on the line of adult onset tourettes. I was 17 when my first tic developed. My second and third came at 18. And at 20 my tics decided to become drastically worse. I was really a doubtful one in terms of whether or not I developed my tics in adulthood or childhood

Thank you for your work. Years ago I had a ride on a bus with a person have had swearing ticks and I didn't know what it was. The more this guy got nervous and the more the people stared at him the worse it became. It must be a horror to be in public. But people like you help to understand.... Respect! 😀

Thank you for these ☺️ I'd like to add that although someone's case may overall be mild, moderate, severe etc, some people's severities can wax and wane over time, which can be dependent on factors like life stressors, medication and more.
My personal example is: my tics late 2019 were very subtle and predominantly simple motor tics, early 2020 they became more complex and the vocal tics increased, until they became the predominant type. Sometime around 2020-2021 my overall severity increased and I was experiencing tic attacks and getting injured. Since mid 2021 however the frequency and severity has greatly subsided, with only brief exacerbations so far, although lately they seem to be picking up again.

Absolutely loved this video!! ❤️ Please do more educational videos like this. They are very informative and super easy to share with friends and family.
I would love a video on the different categories of tics as well as various examples in each category. It would be especially helpful to show that even each category has its own range of “tic severity”, if that makes sense. Maybe you could give examples of simple and complex tics in each category, if applicable.
I love all your videos, but I think your educational videos where you sit and chat are my absolute favorites. I do enjoy your videos with your family as well. Who doesn’t love your mom? 😊

I'm actually in a band with a person who has tourettes he is very open about it. His level of tics are mild, he usually has facial tics and sometimes he makes clicking and popping sounds. Occasionally he'll let out a random word but he never had sweat tics. You would never know it when he sings though because it doesn't affect him at all, and he is an amazing singer.

Oh my goodness congratulations on getting a sponsor by Function of Beauty! I've always wanted to try their hair stuff out. I always see those little booster pods when I'm in Target and they call to me. Maybe I will now. I love that you're able to post so often on here with your TikTok content (which for some reason doesn't like to show up on my FYP), but I enjoy these "UA-cam-y" videos so much more. I really hope you do end up talking about all the types of tics. I've had TS since 2007 and have only just recently learned that there's more types of tics than motor, vocal, and coprolalia.

Lemme explain the "we're not ticking what we say" here.
Let's juat picture a scenario here. I visit someone and I enter their living room. Upon entering I see this really interesting painting.
What happens when I see it, is that my brain starts processing the fact that I'm seeing this painting, becoming aware of it, locking down interesting details, forming an opinion and then react to it. All of this happens in a matter of seconds. The processing happens by your brain sending tons of signals in all directions. When you have tourettes, the signals can misfire during that processing. It happens to everyone, but the part that's responsible in your brain for correcting those misfiring signals doesn't properly work on people with tourettes. This allows the misfiring signals to come out as tics.
So, when my brain is processing that painting, a signal misfires and isn't corrected. That results into that signal coming out as a tic, which could be a nasty comment about the painting. I'm not actually thinking that. It also wasn't in my head before it came out. I myself was still processing.
It would be fun to note that, at least with my, my tics tend to be faster than my own reaction time in those cases. I could know cause my own reaction time is quite slow, since my brain isn't that fast at processing things. So, often times there's tics coming out before I even realize what I'm looking at. That to me kinda proved that it's really misfiring signals and nothing more

This cleared so much up for me. As a teen girl who's in the age range for possible tourette's syndrome development I became quite worried that I may have had it since I noticed myself ticing very mildly about a year before the pandemic and only becoming more prominent after the pandemic started. I've not been diagnosed with anything yet and I don't want to self diagnose but I'm glad you mentioned functional tics as I didn't know what else to look for since tourette's syndrome doesn't quite seem to fit me even though I do physically, and rarely, vocally tic as well. So thanks for maybe clearing up some confusion and educating us all more on a very misunderstood mental disorder

You are such a beautiful and honest woman. And yes thank you for educating us, I personally didn’t know any of these facts. And that makeup job is next level gorgeous!! Perfectly couples with your natural beauty. Smooth editing, well done video all the way👍🏾. Also I noticed you had almost zero tics while talking about the shampoo🧐. Maybe a future in advertising? Just a thought

My 6 year old has had a verbal tic snorting/sniffing for the past 6 months. We thought maybe it was allergies or deviated septum. He started motor tics about 7 days ago. One that is on and off all day head turn, with a shoulder shrug and eye movement. In the past 4 days after learning more about TS we have noticed 4 other motor tics. We are extremely nervous about how fast things seem to be advancing. 😥 Love your content im basically scouring the internet non stop trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks for your content!
