The companies original policy? Absolutely not - it’s discriminatory against employees who don’t have a certain lifestyle. That’s why they instructed parents to keep it secret and hid the details from child-free staff. Giving parents more flexibility and a couple benefits is one thing, but the disparity here was baffling. Plus people might be taking care of a sick parent, or a disabled parent, or a younger sibling - their time and energy is just as valuable. And what if someone is unable to conceive but can’t afford adoption? They’re just stuck getting the short end of the stick when it comes to retirement, discounts, time off, etc? That’s not fair at all. If it were, there would have been more transparency and at a minimum would be in the company’s handbook. At least this way child free individuals would know that this isn’t the best fit for them before accepting an offer that disproportionately favors parents. That’s just my $0.02
Story 2. It’s amazing how some people will create problems over the silliest things!! Sister is a bully and parents are nuts!!
Damn! As a parent I'd never leave that job.
idk personally i think the family thing was kinda fair
