A little disappointing. The $24,500 is overpriced. What we need is neither touch controls nor a long warranty period. We need compact, easy to maneuver, hole-free scan data. I appreciate that it is smaller and lighter, but why is there no published spec data on accuracy and precision? Perhaps the performance is lower than that of the i700. i900: 165g Eletra smart: 138g I would like to see a video comparing the two, including performance.
It is an interesting move by Medit for sure. Scanner tech is kind of done. Some sort of ceiling has been reached and Medit had to try find a way to offer something different. Will be interesting to see how the market responds to this. Electra smart aka Panda P3, is also super lightweight yes. The software and scan resolution is totally different. We have a review coming out on Panda P3 soon.
Agreed. What's the real world differences other than ergonomics. I700 is already lightyears above most modern scanners. Something like the ai in iTero for removing soft tissue interference without the hassle of iTero interface.
@@dr.ismailsayed5118 Scanners have peaked. I don't see hardware improvements being major anymore. It is all software, platforms, workflows etc. Medit already did a lot of that very well in 2020 so it is hard for them to improve further in big leaps
@@InstituteofDigitalDentistry I am also interested in this. I have trained doctors on the i500, i600 and the i700 for years now. I am out of the training game but I would love to see what new offerings Medit has!
Great video! Thank you for the insights. Interesting to see the scanning speed compared with other scanners. It comes to my mind that I should compare this with the iPhone touchscreen speed. What do you think?
Scanning speed feels maxed out at this point. Most new scanners are 'fast'. It definitely feels like an improvement over i700 thanks to the larger FOV. Regarding the touch controls, they are responsive but not quite like touching a glass panel, haha. Feels different.
I heard of reports in the Medit Facebook group that the USB-C cable is supposedly *not* interchangeable with other conventional USB-C cables -- which might be the reason why Medit has included two of them... Can you confirm that?
this is not about your video, I will watch it in a bit but it is the first i900 video I found that allows comments. I just wanted to ask if anybody thought that Medit's i900 videos took a direct play from Jim Halpert in The Office trying to sell The Pyramid down in Florida? 🤣
You need to test against soft tissue. Models don't provide real world experience. Scanning was only 55fps. We get up to 62fps on i700 on current laptop intraorally.
We have another video on a live patient coming up. This is just the unboxing. Regarding FPS, this was a beta version during testing. So it have improved and been optimized.

Make a comparison between I600 vs i900 to see the scan differences please
Will do for sure. Planning on comparing i700 i600 and i900

Awesome!!!
Will there be a follow up vid about functions, connectivity with labs and milling machines, 3rd party software compatibility???
Yes we will do a full review very soon!
Why allienedstar as200 does not have calibration device
Many scanners are calibration-free these days like TRIOS 5. This is another one hence not needing a calibration tool.
What laptop are you using ?
It was the one provided the company during the beta testing process.

The shape of the connector is different apparently, so this is why the cables are not interchangeable.
The i700 wire can be used with i900. But not the otherway around apparently. Will have to try it.
It’s also compatible with Mac now.
Awesome.
