Michael, in addition to the pattern of light on the ground leading you back beyond the buildings, I like how the close, brightly sunlit wall invites you in and the far sunlit wall invites you back. They can't help but draw you in. Darkening the sky works, of course, but there is something interesting about the effect that happens when adjacent shapes of two different hues are identical values. Sometimes that is what the scene shows and when you depict it in oil, the viewers brain does the separation, and it creates a really glowing effect. It's a beautiful piece. I look forward to seeing more from this location. Also, love Maura and Carole's interpretations as well.

I just appreciate that sketchy, energetic quality. And it think you did a wonderful job capturing the light right from the start, by setting up your values so well. Loved it! Thanks for sharing this. Wow! I had NO HOPE for this one...between the dumpsters and the teal port a potty I thought this would be the proverbial dumpster fire...but it really turned out great! I’m always amazed by how talented you are! And Carol and Mara made lemonade out of lemons too!

What a great video, all that information, I love the painting, just the right light to make it very interesting...your friends are great painters, women usually can't avoid putting more detail...68° in winter! You didn't want to upset but you failed lol!...California is a beautiful location, extremely expensive but where you live is gorgeous. So many things to paint. You are having a great time this winter...Here I do the best I can but the weather is mostly shit right now and we have a curfew at 6PM and restaurants and cafes are still closed, even gyms are closed since 4 months ago and they will open maybe in April for what I've heard...it's a freaking mess. Will try to do some painting this week maybe tomorrow. I want to do something different, kind of composing something out of my confort zone. Will see. Cheers!

-(michael, a most beautiful painting , in the shed wall I see images, figures of people, as though they are from /in a parallel dimension, at/ near the left corner of the large shed face see a sitting human form , that image is in an open doorway, their feet , up to the knee are “ in this world, the rest is beyond , “ into the dimension behind the surface of the wall, a sliver of black marks the edge of a door standing open, it swings in, the sitting person , in the transparency of green is turned left a bit talking to a standing person of red and green hued transparencies, behind the second, and to the right are three sitting people , in a room, separate chairs, these images thinner, going up the stairs left of the upstairs window a white paint full image , turning right into a room, in the attic another image, between and above the windows, mostly. But the shed wall is so beautifully done, there is also the face of the “” Lady in the Sky””, eyes, nose mouth, thinly through, or in the clouds, the peak of the second structure follow it up to the top of the sky, drop down , maybe an inch, that is a straight line through her right eye, see her left eye by starting at the peak of the roof, large shed, follow the rear roof edge half way down, now straight up to the top sky, then drop down an inch, that’s center , her left eye, looking between the eyes , look where the slender bridge of her nose would be, it’s there, then shadowed two nostrils, elegantly, present, now the hint of slightest red is there, below the nose, see her transparent lips with slightest red hue lipstick. “” Lady in the Sky””, yes, all these images are thin, don’t use a lens, , a wingless dragon crawls up a tree , mostly hues of pinkish red, a somewhat large black eye ball, he looks left , having crawled up a trunk angled to the right, , nearer the left edge int thick trees, a hairy troll, hiding, eyes a faint glistening, the blue sky with clouds , look like a pool of “” stilled water”” , where a single small stone has been dropped in, and made tiny ripples on the surface of the water, “” elegantly faint, it’s center near the tip of her nose, the Lady in the Sky)-

Just keep trying and trying and watching and trying and failing and trying and practicing and reading and watching and practicing and practicing and. . . . . . . .and on it goes ALL YOUR LIFE ! Copy what Mike does. Checkout others on UA-cam and copy them too till you find your confidence. Then repeat ! But do NOT worry about failing a school art test.
