Pub Choir director Astrid Jorgensen on arranging ABBA's The Winner Takes It All for 2500 in Brisbane

Between her quiet suburban garden shed and the stage, Pub Choir’s introverted director Astrid Jorgensen shapeshifts into a peerlessly charismatic conjurer of raw human emotion.
Here, Jorgensen gives an insight from her backyard studio in Brisbane - with her chihuahua Penny underfoot - into how she rearranged ABBA’s 1980 single The Winner Takes It All into a unique cover built on acoustic guitar, synthesiser, flugelhorn and voice.
At The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on March 29 2023, about 2500 people learned to sing her version in three-part harmony, and the final performance featured John Hoffman (flugelhorn), Dana Gehrman (guitar) and Seja Vogel (synthesiser).

Very creative. Astrid takes a song that's been around since 1980. Then transforms it into a new composition in which the audience stars, versus singers and instrumentalists up on stage. Just all around enjoyable to listen and absorb... and sing along.
