Hi Guys. here's wishing you more of the same next year. As for a few thoughts on this video, I note how more of your subscribers are seeing, what used to be seen as poverty, now as wealth. There lives are predictable, simple, and low energy, which is more than can be said of much of the world. You point to the timber stored under almost all the houses as being their bank account, which is very true. Our village has about 500 households, and used to have 5 large timber mills within a couple of kilometers of it. I see very few logging trucks now, and the mills are running on accumulated stock or are shut down. One site will be converted into a Korean car parts plant as soon as the Covid restrictions are lifted. It will produce hundreds of jobs and its a sign of the times of Lao leaving behind its logging history and moving into the modern world of manufacturing.
Having been living in the US for the last 40 years, I really look forward to your excellent videos. They stir up lots memories, nostalgia and emotions. Thank you.
Hello sir, welcome to Lao county. I’m so proud of you to present small country to the world wide especially your lovely family and followers. Enjoy your journey sir
Great job Todd and Nini! Very generous of you both and the people who may have help sponsor the gifts. Thank you both for giving the care packages to the people in the small villages.
Fantastic insight into a life we would not ever have the privilege to see, and your sense of Aussie humour is the icing on the cake. Just Brilliant :-)
What a beautiful village and people look very happy seeing you and née née especially the children with candies. Love the black and white photos look amazing.
Thank you Todd for taking us back to the Hmong Hilltribes and showing us their daily lives. Keeping it simple and sweet. A beautiful vlog with a nice musical score and narration. Harriet and I (Jim) want to take this time out to thank you🙌 for the wonderful vlogs this year. You and Neenee were a great discovery on UA-cam. Looking forward to many more vlogs to come. We wish you continued success into the New Year and beyond. Happy New year 2022. 😊😊 Harriet and Jim . Richmond, Va.
Stephen in Bradenton Florida says thanks for the very interesting videos and the rural peaceful life ! Have a Blessed new year with more great travel videos ❤🙏🤍💙
@K2w incorrect. Laotians are not all hill tribe people. Laos is made up of highland and lowland people.. and some in-between. Neenee is Lao Phu Tai who are lowland people, or Lao Loum. The same as Tai Puan, Tai Dam, Tai Daeng and many many others. Where as the Hmong, Lu Mien (Yao), Khmu and Akha just to name a few are highland (hilltribe) people. www.britannica.com/place/Laos/People#ref509287
Hi Harriet and Jim. It's been great having you along for our travels this year, thank you so much for all the support and I hope you two have a wonderful 2022. Looking forward to taking you both on more adventures. Todd & Neenee 🙏
Always look forward to seeing your videos, and really love that song. Makes you want to get up and drive away somewhere. .... Hope you both have a great New Year 2022
⛩🏝🛤🏕🏝🎇 I like the guys playing volleyball on the side of the road and know where all the middle age people were at! The village was so nice and clean, I think it is the cleanest village I have seen as the layout is very unique. The children were so happy after the cookies you past out. I didn't see any new baskets for Neenee's roof top restaurant. Back to this lovely village with kind people who you can tell do not see many outsiders. I did not know you both got married only 5 years ago, I had 11 with first wife and on 23 years with my current wife. Funny how you become more friends than anything else, well at least for me. They seem to have a wide selection of trees as well as growing food between some of the homes, oh and the ladies work on those beautiful fabrics, I " REALLY" liked the purple one and it had the white lace style down one side. Those would of made great table cloths for the roof top room. I was hoping Neenee was going to make it an original arts and crafts from her nation. Everything in the upstairs restaurant room would give a very cultural feel of each trip or province that live different ways of life, this can bring the whole nation to one room. I loved this video and was moved by everyone's smiles and just being able to work yet be happy and smile. Thanks for the great videos and the bridge and on the other side the rice field with nice rice and the cool bridge. Peace to you mate and your lovely wife as I say good day to you both and good health.🏝🏕🛤🏝🛤🛤🏕🏝🌞
After going along with you 2, back into those villages over the bad roads and seeing people confused by your presence and motives, I found this an extremely relaxing video to watch. Excellent editing and content. Please keep up the good work Todd.
I dodge down my head to left when the ball came at you. My iPhone was not that quality, but it's like almost 3D vision. Thanks to your video. Happy new year 2022.
Yes you are right about that… and it is very clean & organized in its own way. Very interesting to see the organizational structure of this village. Is there law enforcement. Is there schooling. Is there banking and shopping. Is there a leader.
Kindness is one of those attributes that makes a person beautiful. People who are kind go out of their way to help others not because they have to, but because it’s the right thing to do.Kindness bless all of us🙏🙏🌻🌴🌼🌼
Its nice seeing these villages up in the mountains.... The landscaping is beautiful and the people interactions are priceless. Loved the chat with the woman that was doing some sort of weaving.
Todd, mate you have everything figured out my friend. You have found a gem of a society to live and tour around. I’m jealous buddy and this video is exactly why. Such a beautiful peaceful way of living. I should really sell everything I have and make a move over there and make the last few years of my life a little more relaxed. Cheers!!!
G'day Todd & Neenee. This will be the last video of yours I'll be watching this year. Tomorrow is New Years Eve. Nothing planned, just a small family get together at home. Thanks Todd, for taking us on your adventures through Laos this year. I thoroughly enjoyed your vids. My wife and I had plans to go back to Laos in October 2020, but you can guess what happened. Anyway guys, I hope 2022 is better than 2021. Have a fabbo and safe 2022, and keep the videos coming.
Thank you Todd ,,if this was the topper,,it was a damn good one . What a great village! Great,,happy people. The little girl with the phone ,,she copped on to the right idea quickly ,snapping a pic of you. And the sweet old lady,,talking to you like she knew you. What a contrast to the end of road village. Like we've talked before,,how could you possibly have a more practical style of building,,with those great underfloor rec room, work room, storage room and play room.if I lived along the coast,,or in the desert,,I'd try that style. Glad to see the individual shots,,,I hope you put a book together someday. Would be another great audience to show the unique beauties of Lao. I'll say again,,the Lao dept. of tourism should be paying you and Neenee. What you and Neenee video,,never fails to grab my interest.,,stay safe my dear friends,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
You have visited some fascinating places in the beautiful country of Laos! Thank you for showing us the places and the people of this far away (from where I live) place.
Todd, you were right, I love this one. PS Please tell Neenee not to turn the village into a tourist destination or camp:) It is so wonderful now & the people seem to be very relaxed & happy. Great stuff you guys. Peace in every New Year. Out.
Very interesting village and thank you for sharing it. Note that a big aspect about the type of welcome you receive in these villages is the time of the visit. In the morning people are busy working in already warm conditions. In the middle of the day people are exhausted from work and the heat of mid day and ready for sleep. The best time I've found is about 4:30PM to about 5:30PM when people seem to come back to life again after rest and cooler temperatures. Nice to see the people in this village better dressed than what would have been typical not long ago.
Good morning Todd and Nee Nee from my family to your I like to say Happy New Year 2022. I love to watch your video a lot it was great to watched and more fun.
Maybe the winner of the village tour but to be fair I think there are all winners, a rock star in that rice field or you were outstanding in that field, thank both of you for the very charming time viewing your videos this year , yes it’s that time for the song that I add to each comment , might be annoying to some but I like being me ,oh yes the song = Fields Of Gold = Eva Cassidy.
Loved the village in this one & the stills of the kids and old lady were just amazing. According to Neenee you were married in 1917......what's your secret? 104 years and powering on......ha ha. 🤣🤣👍👍
Wishing you, Neenee all the best in the new year. Seeing all the happy children really makes my day. Question: Is the bullfight video still in the queue? I've got some serious money riding on Mascara Moo... 🙏👍😁
Love seeing your still images dropped into the video, especially the bnw they are the real story tellers, please keep it up BTW what camera & lens do you use for the stills. Thank you for sharing them ຂອບໃຈສໍາລັບການແບ່ງປັນໃຫ້ເຂົາເຈົ້າ
Thank you to the Laotian government for giving total freedom to this community which had nevertheless collaborated in Vietnam and also in Laos in so many crimes against humanity perpetrated by the French first and then by the Americans!
While living in the State of Louisiana USA .. Some areas of Louisiana near waterways the homes are raised like these homes. It protects the homes from floods. Yes they serve other purposes. But the main reason is flooding. Next time you get to one of these villages get NeNe to ask why the homes are raised..!
Yes, of course it's for flood protection in the low areas, that is obvious. Yet even the Khmu who traditionally live higher in the mountains build homes raised like this for how useful the extra space is.
Todd don't come back to AUS. you live in such a cool place. normal people no bullshit. your life is soo enviable. here is rubbish fake people too crowded roads disgraceful. man you are in the best place on earth. enjoy you may have 25 years left just enjoy peace.
Will come back to visit family... that is all. Not many do want to leave after they have spent some time here. My heart is here now. I hope the new year is kind to you mate.
To put into perspective. From 14:38-14:43 Conversation between NeeNee and the lady: NeeNee: Our young lady, are they afraid of foreigners from out of state (farang), are they afraid of them? Lady: Afraid, yes. NeeNee: Not willing to accept them as son-in-laws or husbans? (Lao: boh Kha ow bhen look bphen puah). Lady: I’m afraid they will take them and sell them.

May I ask, how often do you, if you, go to the temple?
@@bonamy25 As I am not a practicing Buddhist I never go to the village temple. However my wife and her family go regularly.

Why does Thailand drive on the left? It's neighbours Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam all drive on the right.
Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam were under French rule therefore they drive on the right.
