- The dream cast of Renée Fleming as the Marschallin and Elīna Garanča as Octavian star in Strauss’s grandest opera. In his new production, Robert Carsen, the director behind the Met’s recent Falstaff, places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera’s subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that also stars Günther Groissböck as Baron Ochs. Sebastian Weigle conducts the sparklingly perfect score.
oh to be touched and kissed by elina garanca like this...
Not only first class singing by two beautiful singers, but lot of kissing and touching of the sort you'd never have seen in previous decades. Even a roll on the floor. Oh, my.
ooooooHHHHH garanca looks like a guy and very handsome one, incredible!
Not only looks like an irresistibly handsome young man, but moves like one, too. Dayum!
Yeah. At first I thought that...”How the hell did they get Philippe Jaroussky to do this?”. She sounded like a dude too, never once not convincingly. And the production is a great one too.
Me watching this: I hope this doesn't awaken something in me
Sublime and gorgeous. It saddens me that both of these brilliant singer retired these roles after this Met performance.
Really!?that's is truly sad.. Do you know why?
@@marialuizep.7872 Hi, Maria. My understanding is that Renée is retiring from this role because she feels she's explored it enough, that 2017 was the right time. Garanča is retiring from trouser roles. Alas 😔. She desires more dramatic female roles. PS. Hope she knows what she's doing. Netrebko wanted that & is basically shot now.
You have to retire from trouser roles while you are ahead. its am younger womens game. Fassbaender remarked that once she understood every line ythat the Marshallin sang it was time to retire from the role of Oktavian .
Genuinely the best production of Rosenkavalier I have ever seen… so dreamlike and so, so beautiful.
Holy Shit! I am so in lust! Take your pick-they are BOTH sublime!
Many artistic and technical elements here are perfect in my opinion. We need more collaboration like this.
The acting here is Just amazing. Great great artists
That was... u know... Pretty hot hahahahaha.,
"Dream cast" indeed 💎 Just heard Morley's Rose aria and found it ravishing too.
Maravillosa, subline Elina !!!
The new DVD (out in UK in 1st week of December) of this performance is my most wanted on my Christmas list!
Garança recita molto bene il suo ruolo maschile, Renee Fleming è una splendida Marschallin
I saw it at the Met, both fabulous, but Elena stole the show IMHO
Oh my F Goddess!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Whats up with the giant doors?
Elinaとキスしてるの羨ましい❤
私はReneeに嫉妬してる😂
Brave 🌹
Warning: Several liberties are taken with this production that are not in the original stage directions. For example at the very end.
Can you please precise? Thx.
^ Completely agreed. I don't disagree with the setting of the WWI-era Hapsburg setting, but generally, you have ALL of these stupid, long-winded, crazy, and uninformed directors who do nonsensical things with productions that are a badly thought-out attempt at "symbolism", and end up taking away from and distracting from the music, plot, and other CENTRAL things to what is being produced. It makes me furious. And it's also pandering to an audience that doesn't know how to just LISTEN - we DON'T need dancing or visual affects during an orchestral interlude or overture. The music speaks for itself. This isn't Fantasia. If I wanted visuals, I'd go to see a movie. Cheaper.
When I go to the opera, I want to see a traditional setting, what was asked for in the score, etc. I really don't like how the Met, which I rely on for traditional productions, has been getting "creative" with their projects.
@@rominn2184 Set in the period it was written..this is a modern production with a gay subtext not what was intended at the time surely ....?
Does anyone know how to find this version online please please please????
