I think people still don't understand the fact that choreo and stage presence are two different things :D I really like their facial expressions and they get more confident every stage. I think they have amazing stage presence. First they criticize them for having too 'blank' expresisons in Savage era, now they use more and still get criticized? I really don't understand the hate on them. They're pretty talented and they work hard to improve. It's noticeable on every comeback. And it's not their fault that SM force them to lipsync and gave them bad choreo. When they sing live they're pretty good at it, it's the same as the recording and they prove they can dance when they debuted with Black Mamba.
People just love to hate on successful women and even more that they're rookies who are achieving so much in such a short amount of time.

I believe that aespa's stage presence matches their concept and I don't mind it at all. Their songs give me more of an empowering vibe and you don't need to have a big stage presence to be powerful, their music is big so it is nice to see their stage presence being more subtle.

From this stage mix alone I saw each member smiling and giving various expressions to the camera but it's still not enough like??!? I didn't feel their dance was lacking. Sure they could improve their sync at times but it's not the end of the world like some stans make it out to be. I also remember Ningning saying they trained with a girl crush concept but then actually debuted with this crazy lore and singing and dancing to songs about black mamba, naevis, and kwangya. They improved so much during Girls era. I think performing in front of real audiences helped them. Coachella and showcase experiences helped too. And yes, those who say they don't have stage presence are either not performers or they're just haters.
I think why people are saying they have no stage presence is because their facial expressions are too cute for fierce songs like “Girls” and “Savage”. And also because SM don’t let them sing live in most cases. But saying that they have ZERO stage presence is too harsh and not fitting.

@@ar6583 I apologize for not specifying. The “cute expressions” are mostly shown on Winter. Take 3:05 for an example, Winter did an aegyo there, it feels out of place with this song and stage. Winter often smiles when it’s her part, I feel that it would work for fan-meet performing, or for a cute song. However “Girls” isn’t a song about cute stuffs, it’s literally about the 4 girls beating Black Mamba. Therefore I have this opinion, you can feel free to disagree with it too though.

I think ppl dont get their concept. Ppl keep bringing up their facial expression. No, they are not that typical kpop gg and will not do wink, smirk, sharp stare, lip bite, dreamy eyes or cute expression. I however agree that in the past they sometimes lost their energy mid way performance hence they looked tired or losing interest to complete their dance move. Imo the only person that maintain the same energy would be Karina.

I don't think everyone has the same stage presence, idol stage presence depends on the concept of the song, it's not funny when aespa sing girls but the cute stage presence doesn't match the music concept (in my opinion)

For me, i really into grps n performances that wows me, idols that give me or show me star factor/Star aura n stage presence. If i cant find any i will skip. But i dont skip aespa. Thats def something on them .

For aespa, they just lack of real life experience (kpop related event, kpop joint concert, collab stage, special stage) with more of these they def gain more experience n able to show their charm n more side of them, i think SM lack of BASIC promotion for aespa. Even someone more rookies got more basic promotions, contents than aespa, they grow from all these, instead of training room. They gain public interest n recognition with more of this, cuz they lack of this, public might slowly lose interest n confident on them. They really need to gain this back.
And more live performances. N yesh i know they got less live performances ,but def they do have quite a number . N cuz i know their abilities, i really hope to see more of it.
Half live,half open mic, with backtrack support are normal in kpop ,not just for them.. im talking abt raw live vocal~ n ive seen n heard few from them . And u can really see they enjoy more with that.
If they got to have better basic promotion,
SM include more Kpop related event, accepting Collab stage, special stage, remix, letting them do full covers, kpop joint concerts. They def gona grow even more better.
And with more raw live vocal shown, they def gona gain more public support n stable fanbase.

I've watched Kpop since 2nd gen, but I have never been as captivated as when I watched aespa.
Btw, stage presence in a dictionary means the ability to command the attention of a theater audience by the impressiveness of one's manner or appearance.
It mob mentality. Because of this narratif that another fandom have been spreading about Aespa stage presence got so big, other people that barely watched aespa live aside from small short on youtube are going with it. Which is so stupid because at this point aespa can't win. The narratif still say they have zero facial expression (especially Winter), but as you can see in this video, they do. Or that they all are bad dancers when in fact as a group (aside from Giselle) they are better than most girl groups. Or that they never sing live (which is only true in music show, but if you follow their content, you would know they sang multiple times this year). Anyways, I personally think aespa as great stage presence. Not the best of the best, but really good. Better than some I won't mention (unless y'all really ask me).

They debuted during a time when they weren’t allowed to have audiences because of Covid and had to perform solely in front of cameras. Now that they have audiences, things are clearly different. I think their stage presence is fine but I wish their choreographers gave them better dances.

Me being 100% honest. Not saying they have 0 stage presence, but for me personally I think they lack it, I feel bored with most of their stages and performances. I honestly hope they can improve in the future

saying that they have ZERO stage presence is a bit of a stretch but they do lack a little when it comes to it. and yes coming from a MY when youre looking at their stage the member that is singing/up close to the camera usually will have facial expressions bc its their line but if you watch the individual fancams a lot of the times its blank face. and stage presence isnt all about facial expressions so having blank face sometimes isnt all that bad especially bc their concept is more on the badass side. the girls got so much hate when savage came out and even more now bc a lot of it was unsynchronized and just looked all over the place when watching the full cam stage. and in all honesty tho theyre still a rookie group and have time to learn and grow. theyre all amazing and talented girls and glad theyve achieved so much so fast.

I'm sorry but comparing to other groups they really lack it - maybe its because of their choreo (especialy girls choreo is bad example to show them off as talented dancers they are) or continous use of pre-recorded vocals (they sometimes forget to even act as if they're singing, look bored or make 'highnotes' look unnatural making that they don't actually sing even more visible. Some times they have okay stage presence and sometimes there's absolutly no sight of it it would be nice if SM let them sing live - they can sing and dance but they need to get a chance to show it off and its not a way to do that.

In my opinion, I just think they enjoy certain songs more and therefore perform those songs better. This song being an example of one of their betters

They do lack stage presence quite a lot in my opinion but I can see some small improvements so props to them! I really like their voices but I rarely watch their live performances because they're boring to watch most of the time for me. I don't need extravagant facial expressions all the time but they often look bland and like they don't want to be there, the energy and synchronization are kinda off too. I'm sure they'll be fine but it's just a bit disappointed coming from a big 3 group, most 4th gen girl groups have better stage presence than them in my opinion.

Coming from someone who likes some of their songs & them as people they do in fact have NO stage presence 😂 ppl need to stop deluding themselves, go watch a billlie stage or a lapillus stage, a gidle stage & think again. What is stage presence in your opinion?
If you base stage presence based on as people base vocals to Mariah Carey, Sohyang, Withney Houston (S tier), would it be fine for you to say the majority of Kpop idols, who are (F/E tier), CAN'T SING? Since you say aespa have NO STAGE PRESENCE.
The gap between these singers is much more huge, as it requires more talent and hard work, than the gap between these groups and aespa in stage presence which you pointed only on facial expressions.
There are more elements to stage presence: charm, confidence, charisma, energy, consistency, connection with the audience or viewers, vibing, acting and more..
It is just ignorance to say that they don't have these. They do have facial expressions as well.
Besides, stage presence is subjective. As Kpop performers carry the music, concept, personalities, and visuals with them, when your preference matches, you'll see the performance differently.
I have watched Kpop since 2nd gen, and I like aespa the most. Not that I say objectively they have the best stage presence. No, but enough for them to get my attention only after 2 or 3 performances to make them my most favorite.
