aespa started to get hate by kpop stans even before debut for absolutely no reason and it never seems to stop honestly
Man... I don't follow Aespa, but I saw this debut and I was in shock. One of the best kpop debuts I've ever seen. What a well done clip.

SM groups always get hate during their debut days. Every group has been called failures, too experimental, not popular with the public, etc. They also experience rumors and boycotts. It's honestly a tradition now and an indicator of their future success lol
truth. but look at them now, all other agencies are following what SM does always, SM is the trendsetter that is why they will always be the top company. Everyone just follows their train haha

If you want to get into their storyline (which I really recommend because all sm artists storylines are somehow connected) I recommend the smcu ep 1&2!! They’re super interesting and their storyline is sooo good
You have to watch their episodes!!!! And they are amazing. People hating on aespa for no reason. They have quality talent, killer vocals, the music is sooooo interesting, but people wanted to hate on them from the beginning for whatever reason... it's.... bad. aespa will never be boring. Black Mamba storyline is soooo cooooooooooool - I'm sure I saw you react to Girls, right? Black Mamba was introduced HERE at debut. One of the only groups to outright literally sing their lore, even if other groups have it - the lore is their actual concept. I think it's really really cool, personally.
aespa is different from other gg's but trust me being different is cool bruh, and of course it's not only their visuals and concept that attract me but also because their songs are really my type !!!
Karina got a lot of hate even before she debuted. Rumors of bullying scandals, rumors of bad attitudes, etc. Luckily all the rumors were proven wrong and it didn't get worse like the case of Garam and Soojin. Karina's teacher and school friends defended Karina that the rumors were all false. SM ent also immediately gave a statement that the rumors were not true. The amount of the hate they're received are so ridiculous actually.
Other members especially Ning Ning & Giselle also got a lot of hate until today for stupid reason
Giselle’s mostly cause of the n-word thing and the mocking desi (which is not true cause she is a buddist and she did a buddist pose)

I also don't see how this could be insulting. But this might just be how I was raised. I am not indian, so I won't act like this couldn't have been in anyways insulting. I just don't see how a less than 3 sec clip of her posing that way could offend someone. Unless it an extremely sacred dance that can only be used in a really important ceremony.

As of the moment,AEPSA is the leading girl group in 4th gen. If we take GIRLS recent success,they are easily one of the best of all time.

I remember Aespa debuting and almost everyone said their song was not good and stuff, so I dreaded watching it. But I watched it like 2 weeks later and I really couldn't understand the hate cause I liked it from the first listen. So these hateful comments and stuff I usually don't listen to them, cause it's obviously jealousy
I will forever stan aespa..they have unique concept and unique sound.i love their songs and are extremely talented.their only problem is lack of content and SM's poor promotions 😔

Tbh, it's retroactive hate because aespa broke a bunch of records. Ofc, they're not like the biggest group in existence, but, it's a factor of being mad that they're doing well. Everyone liked the song when it dropped and it did really well on the charts. But, this community is hyper competitive. I can't even count the tweets of people hating on them after Savage (which was even better received), who'd previously liked them, but, they stan other artists. Anyways, love your reactions!

I'll never understand why aespa get soooo much hate. The only reason I can think of is jealousy, which is dumb, but yeah. The amount of hate they've been getting since before their debut doesn't make sense.
I don’t see any hate for aespa that doesn’t come from a place of jealousy🤷♀️ all the haters are just jealous that they don’t have the talent, looks and connections that aespa does.
They are all really talented and certainly have one of the coolest concepts in K-pop, great raps and amazing vocals from all members (which is rare) but a majority of the “hate” comes from the people of the cultures that a very certain member has mocked. Plus not soon after said member mocked said culture the group released a song for the “haters” and that members part contradicted her half assed “apology” (excuse) for saying what she did.
@@Suxx4u multiple desi people have stated that it would be ridiculous to call it mocking (specifically those who practise similar dance moves, who would obviously be the most credible).
'life goes on' had nothing to do with the people holding giselle accountable for the incident last year but for the HUGE train of people hating on ALL of aespa all around social media for literally EVERYTHING. i'm also convinced that the majority of people talking about her 'half assed apology' haven't even seen it lmao, she gives NO excuses + ends it with stating that she will educate herself - like literally what else do u want from her? a handwritten apology with tear stains???? I see american celebs who have NO excuse (unlike giselle who was raised in japan) give way shittier apologies yet none of them get the same amount of hate she got. just to name a few - she was body shamed, called 'ugly', had videos of her mistakes in performances slowed down to make them look way worse - that's not holding her accountable, that's HATE.

SM themselves compared them to Blackpink in a statement to the media - then when they showed the virtual avatars they got compared to K/DA (especially with the train scenes) which is all understandable. Their debut song and MV were good so I never understood any of the actual hate they were getting though.
If I understand the story correctly, there was a magazine about Aespa and in the article it said Aespa was going to be the next Blackpink. Someone at SM tweeted the article and a lot of blinks freaked out. They claimed SM was saying Aespa was trying to replace Blackpink, which is ludicrous. Of course this started a huge feud between blinks and Mys / SM / Aespa.
The K/DA thing was just people making assumptions and over reacting.
It would be nice if people could just relax and check themselves but, you know, some kpoppies just LOVE their drama.
@@keithcraig506 I thought Lee Sooman said it himself and was quoted in the article. Could be wrong though. Personally I think Aespa's concept was inspired by K/DA + having a solid storyline that ties the music to something (similar to LOONA.) Their music sounds nothing like BlackPink's though so the only thing you could really compare them with is the number of members.... but in that case why not compare them to a group like Mamamoo too? From what I understand Aespa technically has 8 members anyways so.....

From what I've read in several of the fanwars I've seen, the article came first. But you could be right. I'm not privy to the original information because the tweet was deleted long before I learned that any of this happened.
In interviews, Lee Sooman has stated that he has been toying with the AI concept for quite some time before Aespa debuted. Whether or not that predates K/DA is anyone's guess at this point.
Not to mention that Aespa's concept is nothing like K/DA. The only real similarity here is computer animated characters.
K/DA is, literally, voice acting. There's no real connection between the characters and the singers outside of the singers voice acting for the characters.
Like you said, Aespa's concept goes a lot deeper than that, as we've all learned since their debut.
Like I said, most of the drama about Aespa copying K/DA was caused by people over reacting, based on assumption. The drama started before Aespa even debuted, based solely on pictures of their AI's. Nothing more.
I mean, Oh NO!! More than one group simply CANNOT have digital characters in their MV's!! That's copying!!! Seriously..🥴
@@keithcraig506 The biggest similarity between Aespa and K/DA lies within both debut music videos.
At that time K/DA was probably the most widely known Virtual group outside of maybe The Gorillaz and Aespa just happened to also have exactly 4 virtual members so its obvious why they were compared.
Yes, the concept of virtual groups is nothing new (Vocaloids ect.)
There are other groups in Kpop with AI Members (SUPERKIND), but their concept is actually nothing like K/DA. Where the same can not be said for Aespa's debut MV - even if you go back and look at the key art teased for the AE members.... its very K/DA.
I don't view it as a bad thing - especially since Aespa takes the concept a step further and has real people like you stated.
Their lore and musical sound set them apart from any comparisons in the end regardless.
Taking inspiration from other groups or even Art in general is nothing new. You could even say that NMIXX's concept is inspired by some Aespa songs or SM songs in general.
That wont change the fact that they make totally different music and have a totally different concept.

For the most part, I agree with you. Especially with Aespa's concept being nothing like K/DA.
If by similarities in their debut MV's you mean the subway scenes, you're not entirely wrong. But a lot of kpop videos have had subway scenes in the past. If we're going that route then we can say K/DA copied like a dozen other groups with their laundromat scenes.
As for the 4 member group, Aespa was originally slated to be a 5 member group but one of them left SM before they debuted. I believe it was Miyeon from IDLE, but I could be mixing her up with someone else.
But, yeah, like I said, I agree with you. I just think the whole thing was ridiculous.
