Gonna point out something ive seen since filming. There is a side Camera THANK GOD, its called "high" in the settings, and leaving everything else on default, so that is included in the game, just didnt hit the right settings combination for the 1 game i played for the video!

The players look great but it looks like they have put no effort whatsoever into the actual gameplay. I would prefer a game with generic players as long as it actually felt similar to a real game of rugby.
Gameplay for me is the number 1 thing over licences, luckily they are in the very early phase off the Early Access so a lot can still be improved upon. Will sit down at some point, and give them some direct feedback to help them improve.
Word. You have the right attitude towards this man, I wish they would get some of you more prominent content creators on the payroll making videos and interacting with gamers, getting suggestions and stuff!

Gameplay will always look shite when all you do is pass... Run sideways and get tackled... When the AI plays better rugby than you, you know you're retarted... Big man couldn't even find the side camera or read the controls before playing like... Making the game look worse...

Graphics look great, licenses seem to deliver... but it's sad that 17 years after the release of Rugby 08 we still can't get a gameplay that is dynamic and feels alike to the real sport. Instead we get these frustrating attempts...
Really glad the licences are confirmed, and the photogrammetry that been completed looks really good to me, looking forward to seeing it full implemented to all teams. Im on the same page as you, really wish the gameplay was more dynamic.

Eyy buddy rugby challenge 4 is the closest to rugby 08 it's licensed and everything you can run move sets in the backline also is very nice brother
I wish they can just take EA rugby 08 and literally just update the roster to the new current players and current kits.thats it,keep the graphics old school its fine. Keep all the older players as unlockable players for fantasy league or something, simple. No game comes close to rugby 08, its the best rugby game ever made,period

This recalls rugby league live 4 in so many ways, like the cutscenes, the average generic player's face and people teleporting to tackles. Still RLL4 felt like a finished game

This is rugby 15 vibes. This makes rugby challenge look like game of the year. This is the worst gaming experience ive maybe ever had. I know this is early access, but this needs a drastic drastic overhaul, my god.

I know it’s early access but this looks rough. I figured with the delays for the face scanning they would also improve the gameplay. I laughed so much at how they all stand around at the breakdown before you press a button to bind….
They need to make a Rugby 2k25 game at lease 2K tries to make their games as realistic as possible

The detail 2k puts into their NBA game is crazy. Would love a similar thing for rugby.
in fact it would be necessary to work more on the playing technique the fluidity in the movements technical gestures races of the players but there is surely hope at the final release
Certainly a long way to go unntil launch, Rugby 20 was better at launch than phase 1 of the beta, so devs have time to fix a lot of things with community feedback, for me its a shame some of the fundermentals like rucking and tackling werent where i thought they would be in terms of being pretty perfect.

For me I want better running mechanics, so faster players can easily burn of slower players and more agile players can break the line easier.
I noticed Mauvaka was playing wing as well aha - you can see in the bottom left corner 11 P Mauvaka
I know, I only saw it when watching it back, a couple of people have mentioned in the discord having forwards on the wings too 😂
Noticed that too, was a big red flag for me cos, of course gameplay is the most important thing, but simply having the correct players in the correct positions is paramount too. Get so bored in rugby 22 of having to reshuffle the bench before a game.
Also a shame how lucu was never at a Ruck or ramos was never at full back in gameplay. Those small but important things need addressing too.
Definitely needs a lot of work, I know the bar for sports games are high but this isn't good enough. Hopefully they take player feedback and give this a BIG uplift
Yeah a lot of feedback from the community will hopefully be super helpful to them, I was expecting it to be better than it is, but hoping they improve a lot over the early access.
Feels like a step back from 22, not even the camera flatters the work that they have done with photogrammetry
Yes we'll contribute to the feedback etc but surely as developers they don't need these basic functional flaws pointed out by joe public, some of the flaws are glaringly obvious
Yeah, the rucking and tackling mechanics especially are things ill be giving feedback on, but you would really hope that wouldnt require external imput on, because they do seem to clearly be an issue.
@MaDDragonRugby we were all saying that we didn't mind that photogrammetry wasn't going to be done as long as the gameplay was enjoyable, and it turns out only two teams have been completed and gameplay is a long way off. It's disheartening but I'm hoping it'll vastly improve for release. Can't see how external input is going to help development though as surely the developers weren't looking at the gameplay thinking it's fine
Yeah we'll probably never really know because the developers have been so silent on the making of the game. I hope they become a little more transparent now that there is something for us to see and respond to

Was that not a good game? I sort of understand it. They need a model/engine to work with. EA with Madden always had a heck of a time getting tackling to feel "real" and honestly rugby style tackles are harder to nail down

@@hilgenb4 I mean rugby 22 and rugby challenge had good tackle animations, Rugby League Live was a good rugby LEAGUE game, but u can’t just have the same tackle animations and call it a day

Yeah ive been messing about with it and got it working, no idea why that would be labelled as "high" as opposed to "side view" or something.

Where do we send the feedback? Do they send a link once you play it or do we just add to forums? Really think there is potential as it’s clearly got the rugby league live mechanics which wasn’t the worst game, and want to support this to make the game what we want. I think if the gameplay was good we would all still complain about licenses😂 as they say the community will help build the game so let’s help where we can and get the it to the best rugby game out there!
I believe its just a case of dropping feedback on the big ant forum pages, im going to sit down over the weekend and try and givee them as much constructive feedback as possible. We all want a great game, so the community giving the devs the info they need to improve the game is going to be super important.
I think it's quite clear that this is just a skeleton, and should be judged as such. I'm not buying it yet, I want to see how much work they put into the next update. But I'm more optimistic than many seem to be here, lack of features seems to be more of an issue then the features being broken
Yeah its certainly going to have some development over the Early Access, feedback from the community back to them will be a massive help. Graphically i think its looking nice, only problem is how many people will be put off if there isnt large strides in the gameplay aspect. Ive played games in Beta and early access before, and theres normally not a lot of content and things do go wrong. But general mechanics need to be on point, ive played another 3 games, and think the passing and rucking system is very off at the minute, wouldve like that to have been nailed even ofr an early access.
I think we have some work to do! Just played a few games and there are some real issues but I will admit, there was time when attacking I enjoyed myself…
Does it allow you to put the controller in the middle and watch a CPU vs CPU match like RC or RLL?

I don’t know why EA sports don’t make a rugby game. They’ve nailed madden so I can’t see it being hard for them to do a rugby game
I've been waiting for a rugby game to come along for a while. The ones that have come up are a bit crap. And rugby game I'd like to see if rugby manager. Basically FM (football manager) but for rugby. So all games simulated u just choose to do management less hard on graphics and more on details and being able to simulate being a rugby manager

The gameplay and cutscenes are rugby league live 4. The passing animation hasn’t been good since the rugby challenges. Not excited for this in the slightest anymore. Don’t believe they’re confident in the gameplay that’s probably why they didn’t post any in the year delay build up. Was hoping it would be good, educated, rugby union like gameplay but this is just sad to see. Makes me feel as though the developers have never watched a game of rugby in their life if they feel this is good enough to post :/ the motion capture is so awkward and stiff too. Who takes a conversion like that? Who kicks off like that? Who dramatically dives into a tackle like that? Who passes the ball without moving the frame of their body or hips like that? It’s sooooo annoying to see.

Nowhere near the feel of rugby 08, still a lot of work to do to make the gameplay feel smoother. Hopefully improvements will come as the community give the devs more feedback

Is it just me or is rugby World Cup 2011 still the best gameplay? I mean the camera angles on the new rugby games is horrible to play with.. not entirely sure if you can change it but it’s not good at all.
54Gigs for Graphics + Player models & 1Gig for gameplay. When will we ever get a decent rugby game???
The ONLY two things I was hoping were going to be good..aren't. Passing and ruck mechanics. It's a shame. Won't judge the gameplay too much...not going to upset myself watching gameplay for atleast a few months. Positives: scrums look good, graphics look good. Some small details clearly inspired by rugby 08. It has A LOT of bugs and isn't near the finished product.
They were the 2 main mechanics I was focussing on too going in to the game. Im sure improvements will come, feedback will be essential. I did think the passing and rucking would be nailed for early access. Looking forward to seeing every team have the photogrammetry added.
Surely the closest players should auto ruck? And what’s with players standing around in offside positions? How have you time to micromanage your team in single player mode?

It’s clearly a VERY early build but I think another video when you’ve learned the controls would be more useful.
So many of the criticism was the buttons for this aren’t what other games.
No doubt more time with the game will be great to learn that sort of stuff. Looking forward to covering it more once its been improved. Ive played a few more games and the control set up is an issue, not just because they dont align with any other rugby game, but theres so many buttons that do 2 different actions and its really hard to avoid doing the wrong one at the wrong time.

I know it’s early access, but what concerns me is that the game was meant to release in September last year. How far behind schedule could they have been in the development process? I don’t know the story behind the scenes but it looks like there is so much to do and it worries me that it’s at this stage and they’ve gone “ok, now we’re ready for some people to play.” Reserving judgement until the finished version is out, but this is concerning!
To be honest the players do look good but when it comes to the weight of the players it doesn't look right, I mean the forwards look like backliners
immediately you can see it is exactly like all old rugby games. The teams look like. they are being controlled by a very very very slow cpu
Take the 08 engine and copy and paste it... Or even better just make a remaster of it. Thats all

no time limit at the moment, but i imagine the full game wont be out for about 4-6 months
I believe Early Access is rolling straight in to game launch, so Early access will be going on as long as it takes them to work out all the issues, so youve probably got a good few months to ive it a go, before the launch roles around.

All they need to do is to copy and paste the animations (and gameplay) of Rugby 08 with this quality of graphics. How can they don't understand what absolutely all customers are saying for more than ten years... Rugby 08 with better graphics = best game ever.
Played this earlier, and tbh it has the potential to be a good rugby game at launch! They need to fix the tackling, feels like leauge in that regard. And only being able to use the right joy stick to dive tackle constantly and barely hitting your target was annoying! Rucks can be better, and more fluidity in the game will really elevate this game to being a great rugby game one day
Think youve pretty much hit the nail on the head, hopefully over the development cycle they can improve th etackling system a lot.

I can see big ants influence on the mechanics is similar to league live 4. Ruck animations look weird and would be more realistic tolave the ruck if its non contestable. Set pieces need working.

I’ve been waiting for physics based contact sport game for years. Both with rugby and NFL games, the amount of speed/momentum you have going into contact has no bearing on the collision. You can be running at pace and somehow get magically pushed back in an instant when a tackle animation is triggered. It really detracts from how enjoyable these games are. With the technology that exists for video game physics this is really poor. I know I’m asking for a lot but one would think that this would be possible by now. Also with the level of tactical nuance available in some sports games, one would think it would be possible to program your team in a rugby game with regards to attacking formation, depth of the line, speed running onto the ball etc. I just hope this can be achieved in our lifetime 🤣
I wish i knew how to build a game, so as a player i could make a decent effort. How hard is it to make a footy game half decent. Apparently impossible lol😂

hiya im back haha ive joined rugby yesterday yesterday my team foldided two years ago so i joind boxing now im doing rugby and boxing

tbh ima cut it some slack its early access so was not expecting much from it but there is alot of work needed to be done on the game witch i was quite surprised with like hopefully u can change controls to what u want them to do and also hope the add more to tackling and kicking with the small circles but yea jsut overall 6/10 would be a 4/10 but its an early version so they will fix alot of problems
Considering how long we’ve been waiting for this game it isn’t looking that great.
You can tell by the way the players move and position themselves that the programmers have no idea how to make a rugby game. The backline is very deep, yet static. There's no sense that the backline is operating as a unit.
All I want is EA Rugby 08, how hard is that for a games company to recode/just remaster man

It looks like they bit off more than they could chew with this one. At this point, our only saving grace is an intervention from World Rugby investing in a big publisher and developer.
The tackling situation and head on collisions are pathetic. The ruck situation look stupid. Those two things need big improvements

I think the whole ai is a copy of thr RL version pass, tackle 5 times then seem to kick.. Ruck contest is useless, passing is bizarre and all over the place.. Players are constantly out of position.. I can forgive the glitches but this is scary bad! Im hoping for a no mans sky resurgence but not holding out for much 🙈

this makes rugby 22 look amazing i think gameplay wise rugby 22 is alright to be honest
I enjoyed the general flow of rugby 22, i know a lot of people didnt like it, but thay did get a feel for some things in the gameplay nailed very well, like a big line break and the momentum of players running. Hopefully over early access, Rugby 25 can find some improvements.

I've seen enough its another fail. I don't get it, we've had the blueprint for gameplay sitting right in front of us for years in Rugby 08 ready to be replicated yet none of these genius developers can catch a clue smh

Maybe its just me but the red lines that go around tour face cam is super distracting
I understand this is early access beta, but to say "you have to wait for the final product this isn't gonna be the same game" and expect a completely different game is unreasonable. We're seeing a close product to what will be the final product. Honestly if the gameplay is close to the past few games, what makes you think they're gonna drastically change anything by the time it release's? All in all im sorry to say this but either scrap youre entire system and start from scratch, or just let a completely new studio try and take their shot on a rugby game. Its a shame you have so many people saying make it feel like Rugby 08 and it looks like they took Rugby 08, then just did the opposite of everything that it was. I hope they can salvage this game, but good lord if they had an EXTRA 10 months of development on this game what makes you think they're going to make a significant change in 2 months?

Hello, for the first sample, and after 1 year of waiting, I confess that I was very disappointed. The animation and graphics are acceptable but the rest is weak, without standing out from the rugby games available on the market, especially the gameplay (which is the most important thing in a game).
I also think that very little was made available in this early access, especially after 1 year of developing the game.
There is still a lot of work to do to win over the fans.....
I had created many expectations, that this game would be "the best rugby game ever made" but this sample was very disappointing.
I hope they continue their work and pay attention to constructive criticism from fans to improve the game.
I confess, I was sad.
Yeah I think a lot of people share your view Pedro, I personally was expecting the game to actually be pretty flawless and the early access might run for a month or 2 to iron out issues before release, but theres a long way to go. Hopefully plenty of people will provide constructive feedback that help the dev team improve the game over the next few months.
