My 1st & 2nd ancestry came from Canton doesn’t even know how to speak mandarin, they only speak Malay, Cantonese & Hokkien. My father also speak abit of Japanese due to WW2. So when I was born in Spore, since the day my eyes open, I only speak English, Cantonese, Hokkien, & abit of Malay.The 1st wave of migration in Spore are Teochew, 2nd wave is Cantonese & Hakka, 3rd wave is the largest which is the Hokkien, 4th wave is the Hong Kies(Hong Kong) in the 1990s that drives the HDB price sky rocketed. Most of the format or structure of the sentences is Cantonese style esp in food & cruisine. It is also due to influence of British colonial of HK & TVB Drama series esp in the 1960s,70s,80s,90s ( becoz that time Cantonese language is a fore front in the economies Macao, HK, Malaysia, also sort of in Spore beside 1st is English) then Spore axed all Chinese language.Also during the 60s to 1999 there is a lot of KL & Ipoh people working in Spore. Eg. Meh, lah, Loh, lor, wor, leh, Har, hah!, Wa!, Due! etc these are Cantonese expression either beginning or at the end of the sentence. Walao eh! (Something disappointed you) Is from Hokkien(Walao) + eh(Teochew). Walan eh! (Something that hurt you physically or emotionally). Cantonese, Hokkien + Teochew. Wa = surprise expression, lan = big cork without the man’s testicle intact is in Cantonese which is Walan means “such a big cork!”. “Lan” also mean man’s cork in Hokkien which they term as “Lan Chiao” = LC. From here u see Cantonese is very good at describing things precisely both literally & vulgarly...rather expressive. Wapiah eh! ( absurd or stupidity surprise you).Is purely Teochew. Dabao is from Cantonese not mandarin. Mandarin is 外帶. Molok = Moron is Cantonese Buki = fuck is from Malay Due = fuck is from Cantonese Gan = fuck is from Hokkien Pul = fuck is from Teochew Ordering Kopi:- Kopi Siew Dai is Cantonese 小太 which neither small or big which is in the middle sweetness. This 1 Hainanese invention due to a lot of their customer is Cantonese. Kopi Gao is Hokkien means Gao = thick. Kopi Pok is is Hokkien means Pok = thin. F - people “69” is in Cantonese means you either look like & behave like an idiot cork. “67” also Cantonese... same as 69 but more complete expression with 2 more balls attached or testicle included weighing down the idiot cork. Apply in situation whereby the opposition or your friend( stupid idiot) get you involved/ into trouble also. @007 I heard my bro who has been working in SG before, said that he has met up a first generation of Chinese Singaporean (a very rich old folk). They uncle mention that first generation Singaporean Chinese were speaking Cantonese dialect not Hokkien nor Teochew. It is a common sense that Cantonese, Hakka and Teochew are from GuangZhou, China.
@@jessicaliang6068 I don't think so. I heard it's Hock Chew (福州话). Siew sounds like Cantonese, but it does not make sense with the Dai, isn't it? Or it could be a mix between Cantonese and Hock Chew. 😁

Language is but a form of communication. It has nothing to do with whether a teacher has failed in teaching the language. An adult should be able to discern the use of proper english at the right time and the use of singlish at its appropriate time. You see I write up there. I no use singlish no mean I dunno singlish hor. I red ic 1. I talk singlish with my bros no horse run doesnt mean I chow ah beng. I piak proper engrish also no mean I jiak kentang. To be honest, our ministers occassionally throw in some singlish to "connect" with the masses. While I dont fully agree that it should be done, I can understand why its done. During my child's formative years I implemented a penalty system for using la lor leh yah hor as I know that at a young age, they will not be able to switch between the use of the 2 language and may end up using singlish in their school work/exam. Sorlee hor I write so long. I just feel lah dont so uptight lah. Sometimes must relac a bit and be less judgemental. And Teh C is actually tea with evaporated milk haha.

新加坡Singlish和马来西亚Manglish都是大同小异。
但是因为好多马来西亚人到新加坡工作的关系,Manglish也就受到Singlish影响而加入了jialat, wao lao, pattern 多过badminton 等等。

我是台灣人, 我猜mai ham應該是來自於福建話. mai是不要的發音, ham是文蛤的發音. 所以如果在台灣, 用閩南語說不要文蛤, 就是mai ham的發音

台灣人住新加坡5年,小販中心的安可安娣的全福建話,腔調問題但是完全可以溝通。Singlish裏夾雜的福建話卻無法理解,因為語言是一種音調,不習慣的音調就不容易理解,比方說tio(台語也用這個發音,雖然腔調有些微不同),但沒看你的視頻,我還真不知道Singlish會這麼用
