I have an upcoming trip to MNL… ONT-SFO-HNL-MAJ-KWA-KOS-PNI-TKK-GUM-MNL and doing the reverse on the return. Overnight stay in MNL at Resorts World which is next to the airport. There is a walkway from the airport to the casino…
I am Vietnamese and I travel to VietNam at least 3 times per year. Longest flight is from Detroit to Korea… that’s about 14-15hrs on the plane, my suggestion is… sit back, enjoy your flight, checking things around your cabin (especially business/first class) try out food and drinks then movie and …. SLEEP! Hopefully in the near future we will have a few casino tables on the plane.
I've travelled to PH many times from West coast on 13 hour legs. Best advice, buy the onboard WiFi and listen to long 3 hour podcasts on your phone. Buy a seatstrap eyecover to hold your head in place when you want to sleep. Try to book your flight night so you'll sleep more naturally
17 hrs DXB-AKL in EK First Class was superb… 17 hrs IAH-SYD in UA Polaris was comfortable… 15 hrs SIN-SFO in UA Polaris was comfortable. Watch movies or work on projects & enjoy meal service the first 6 hours.. Sleep off the remainder
I love in Oz, a mate would fly to Dublin twice a yr. He hated flying and he too couldn’t sit still. His theory was, 2-3 day bender with no sleep. Pop a couple Valium once he boarded, wake up /come to landing in Ireland. FYI get a window seat.
What my friend and I did on our 16 hour trip.; watch movies that you have been wanting to see. Take lots of long naps. Read a book. Walk around the cabin so you won't have swollen feet.
I went to the Philippines last year for a month and can't wait to go back. The flight wasn't 16 hours. The longest leg was Minneapolis to Seoul, and it was 141/2 hours. On my return trip it was 101/2 hours from Teipei to LA.
If you don't think you can do a long flight, then do a bunch of smaller flights and make a grand adventure trip. Fly to London (spend a couple days), fly to Mediterranean (pick somewhere and spend a few days, fly from there to India (or somewhere around there) and then from there fly to the Philippines.
honestly, long flights aren’t terrible. when i went on deployment, we rode 8 hours on a bus to norfolk. then flew i wanna say 6 hours to italy, then spain, then bahrain, then Djibouti. i don’t remember all of the exact hours. but we flew for what felt like a day and a half! just had movies downloaded and slept
If u really want to go, you'll suck it up and go. First time I flew to Zambia (I did a lot of medical mission work) the pilot announced we may break the record for the longest nonstop commercial flight. We were on the same plane, in flight for abt 22-23 hours. I have no idea how they didn't have to refuel. Every trip after, we would either have a layover or stopped to refuel. It was awful but I loved mission work so the long flight was worth it. Do it once and u never have to do it again. And, you'll have memories for life.
I'm afraid you can't avoid of at least 15 hours flight going to the Philippines. Flying out of San Francisco or LAX might be the shortest straight flight which is 15 hours. Otherwise, you can split your flight into 2 leg and have a lay over in Japan. The downside of that is, your total flight hours might be 18 hours. If you do go, I suggest sleeping in the plane if you are arriving in the morning so you avoid the jet lag faster.
Longest flight I've taken was 14 hours from Toronto, Canada to Osaka, Japan but anywhere in Asian will take that long ish. Things to note for someone as tall as you. You can bid for an upgrade to business class for about 1700 USD more per direction where I was. I grabbed a deal for about 500 USD round trip for my flights. You could do economy + for the extra leg room which is about 70 USD more or 35 USD more if you picked the seats with the exit doors. I usually sleep through 3-5 hours of the flight. Flight also comes with minimum 2 meals and snacks. Then its movie watching for the rest of the trip. A lot of the time you will also see people stretching in the aisles as well.
I travelled from UK (Yorkshire) every week on a Coach (bus) down to southern Spain and back again aprox 3 days on the coach taking passengers on holiday. I think me and my fellow workers including our drivers were partly crazy, got up to many shenanigans which I cannot tell you about on this chat. Safe to say we were never arrested but it was close on a couple of occasions. You need to stop over thinking the journey it’s part of the adventure. Relax have fun. Offer help to the air crew to pass the time 🤪🤪🤪🤪
I just took the new flight that just opened that's a direct flight to SF. It's a 14.5-hour flight. I live in Manila. It's worth it. Then you can fly from SF to where you need to go in the US. But I'm from the US. I normally download movies or watch new movies that just came out on the plane service. I have flown business class 1 time but it was to Dubai and then to London. That was 8 hours for each flight. It was nice.
Speaking of flushes, I'll never forget that MASSIVE payout from that Three Card Prime Straight Flush. I showed at least 12 of my friends lol. Please go back to Three Card Prime, was very fun to watch
youll be fine!! download movies or other things and bring comfy clothes and pillow. SLEEP it away. all those planes come with tvs and bigger seats. also you have meals which break it up. you'll be fine but yes it sucks and nothing you can do.
White guy who flew to Philippines with a my friends family from Chicago here- first time overseas- we flew to Japan from Chicago for 12 hours, 2 hour layover, and then flew to Philippines for 3 hours. It’s not bad at all if you have headphones and download like 5 movies onto your phone. I thought the time would be ass but it’s honestly fine and once you do it once flying anywhere feels short. I absolutely want to do it again!
2:58 dealer didn't qualify...should have pushed ante back

I appreciate this comment! Sorry so late!! I am still trying to mentally prepare for a long flight

On plane;
These days; plenty of movies, and pay extra if you can get extra room. Its worth the price. Lay down even better.
Go first class…or pay extra for seat by the emergency exit doors… lots of leg room
I feel you brother on flying long distance.
4 hours is my max
I’m 6’-7” and hearing impaired so exit row is out for me.

At 02:55 the dealer doesn‘t qualify, he wins with ace high but still takes your ante. Shouldn‘t it push?
