I love this hunt, a little adverse weather, small pond beautiful decoying, green heads low on the water. This was a dream hunt, Thanks Josh. Great job!
I love shooting them in big winds. Flare them up and its like shooting tin cans on a fence. Shoot the birds and they go backwards from the wind. You could work those birds even closer, and hit them on the flare. A trick, which is hard to teach , but easier if solo, is to take the birds from the outside in. Shoot the further bird first, and get the closer birds as they back pedal out, especially if you have tight chokes and are optimized at 30+ yds. An example of that would be around the 6:30 mark of this video ua-cam.com/video/URC7Xe2eW9E/v-deo.html . I could shoot the close snow first, but the further ones may be out of range by the time I get on them. By taking the far bird first, I had lots of time to let the close bird get out a ways, then take a third incomer, and a quick load and get two more crossers for a five shot five bird on the snows.
I was out at hillsdale that day, we had the same issue. We had a few more fly once the sleet started but once the snow started we called it too. That was the coldest hunt I’ve had this year
In really high winds like that I like to go 1 shot size larger. So if you normally shoot #4 shot then go to #2 or if you use #3 shot go to #1 shot. It helps.
I'm jealous you can shoot 5, here in ct we can shoot 4 and next season they are lowering the limit to 2. Great video I have had some of my best hunts in snow storms like that and I loved every minute of it lol.
I hunt hard up in the fingelakes region of ny and ive been out in those winds before. And it does carry that shot alot. Ive gone to shoot crips on the water before at 30yds and completely missed because of the wind
Patience grasshopper... Most of those early birds could have been shot closer with better angles if you'd been more patient. They were coming, let em. Solid finish though.
@@sansaeteurn5027 We will break out the Love Shack out later in the season on field hunts when the ponds lock up. But for now it's farm pond #MallardsBro!!
Awesome from So. Louisiana. If you ever want to trade a 2-3 Saltwater Gulf O Mexico Fishing Trip for a 2-3 mallard hunt look me up.. U can bring 2-3 friends. Thks, Gunner
I'm sure I've said this already but love your vids. I want to get a Sitka duck hunting jacket, which one do you recommend? Oh and I need it with a hoody so duck oven is out.
I pretty much only shoot super x. They work great for me because I shoot them close. Most people who blame the shells for missing either take too long of shots or can’t shoot great. Granted your pattern does matter, but if you get them inside 30 yards you will kill them with any shell
You are funny, I don't think any wind speed would change your shot specially for easy shots at 10 yards. Your ammunition speed is 1500 ft/s so yeah a 30 mph wind ain't doing anything, good one.😁
@@jadynm6796That was the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. 10 yards is a joke, try shooting birds at 50 yards then maybe. So that means all the other birds they shot was by bad shooting huh?
@@greglemke3829 yeah... It's hard to kill birds on a day where it's all stacked up. Yeah good hunt, but it could of been done better and with fewer educated birds. They probably would of got that last bird too. So okay Greg.
Lmao you've got to be kidding me. A smart mouthed little punk bitch likes you gets paid to take people out hunting. Well I can tell you're quite the business man lmao. I'm not being a keyboard warrior and definitely don't want to go on a hunt with this guy. I just think that people like you who put their 2 cents in on a hunt where the guys limited out is hilarious. I kill enough birds on my own. I don't need someone to take me on a hunt let alone pay a little puke like you to take me on one.
Most of those farm ponds are unwadeable. He set the decoys in a manner that matched the way the birds use this pond. I understand having decoys “too close” but not real sure what moving them 20 feet further away when they want them closer would do. Concealment wasn’t an issue and the birds decoyed, very well in fact. When they figured out they needed to let them into the spread further than they normally would shooting improved and birds started to pile up. So long story short, you’re wrong and based on your profile picture you talk a lot more than you actually shoot.
I like that I’m seeing ducks being allowed to decoy by guys in Dux hats...
Great shoot!
I thought Dux only took sky busting pass shots.... It is a nice change up
Always good to see feet down and no skybusting. Only if the rest of the DUX guys could follow along that be great
I love this hunt, a little adverse weather, small pond beautiful decoying, green heads low on the water. This was a dream hunt, Thanks Josh. Great job!
Awesome hunt love the weather fly baby fly!!! 😊
Perfect decoy spread, perfect groups, perfect hunt, perfect shootin. Nice video!
That's a perfect hunt! Singles and doubles coming in consistently

Where can I get one of those Mallards Bro beanies?
They are not available
Damn.😔 They’re clean tho
Nice video👍 and What shotshells do you use?
In that wind it helps to shoot the faster shells like the black cloud or blind side at 1675fps.
Per Person who can afford that? Looks like they did just fine.
sam wilkes with the rebates they are 119 a case so all I shoot is the blindside sorry if you can’t

Don’t be sorry. I do just fine.

What state is this? Kansas?
What happens to Luke you haven’t hunted with him this year
Is the Winchester steel shot crap or should I just buy the expensive brands
I pretty much only shoot super x. They work great for me because I shoot them close. Most people who blame the shells for missing either take too long of shots or can’t shoot great. Granted your pattern does matter, but if you get them inside 30 yards you will kill them with any shell

You go try it then, winds up to that speed push your pellets a tremendous amount of distance 30 feet out from your barrel
