The first lyrics were 'And So it Goes' a gorgeous Billy Joel song. Tim and Peter Hollens have done that song together. Beautiful.

If Tim were to actually read the phone book, he wouldn't get past "Aaron A. Abramson" before I was rolling on the ground. His bass, tenor, and delivery are presumably already registered as deadly weapons.

I love watching Rob in this video. He goes from not really knowing what Tim is getting at to laughing so hard I believe he was crying. When it gets to the part where Austin says "Put some emotion in it" Rob is looking down, obviously trying to compose himself only to lose it when Tim does the "emotional" "Ooo Watch Me Watch Me". Tim is the sass true but Rob is the "class clown" and cracks jokes all the time but usually is the first to completely break into giggles.

It wouldn't be as devastating if Tim didn't have that voice and that deadpan delivery

Always hilarious when I watch this / However the first lyrics Tim was reading was Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" was covered by Tim Faust and Peter Hollens - which IMHO us one of the most beautiful (sad) songs I've heard in a long time - but their two voices blend so well - it'll bring you to tears but still is worth the listen - I highly recommend it!!!
Glad you had a great time at the concert - I had VIP tix for their last concert in Atlanta and got to talk to the guys a good bit...I can't wat untill they're back in the ATL.
    Love you guys!!!

Don't worry, he did the reactor schtick the week before, in Dallas too.
I bet Tim was a great math teacher! The kids would be scared of him with that voice for the first minutes, but by the time class is over, he's the favorite teacher. 😂

Tim is hilarious, and yes he is very sassy, his sarcasm is like no other, and he can get away with it like no one else can. Austin was great with all his dance moves but just watching Rob was worth it all, he was loving it.

Only Tim could read lyrics and do nothing else and still have everyone in hysterics. That is a Billy Joel song called "And So it Goes." Billy is one of my favorites. It's probably the most melancholy song I've ever heard to this day, and so BIG for being so sparse with instruments. Just a piano and his voice. But it fits with so many life experiences, so it has its place. I don't listen to radio either. I do miss being surprised with when a favorite song would come on and you didn't expect it. Regarding Tim (this will be long-winded and just my opinion) -- He does roast reactors a lot, but he equally loves reactors as well. I also suspect that he is trying to relate to his audience, which are probably not all UA-cam watchers, and they don't understand either (aka seasoned folks lol). I will say that he usually credits reactors as the folks that helped Home Free rise up to the level that they have achieved thus far, so I'm surprised he didn't do that at your show. It may just not have felt that way to Ninja, and I get that. He made a comment on the Europe livestream they did in London about us Americans helping win the war for the British against the Germans, and I totally didn't know how to take that. But everyone laughed. I was like did he just say that? WOW. Anyway, back to reactors - I didn't understand this whole concept at first either. But then I got it, and I think the reason why your channel is so successful in such a short time is that you don't patronize your followers. You come to the table with an open mind every time, and many reactors just can't do that. Gosh, I made fun of my kids when I found them watching people play and comment on videogames. I'm like, just go play the damn game yourself, boys! I didn't understand it either. But here I am watching y'all all the time! We seasoned folks grow and learn, too. Great reaction, guys, and appreciate Ninja's honesty!!!

Tim actually made fun of us, the people that watch the reactors. And when you think of it, it is kinda weird to watch people watch videos😉. But when I watch you or other reactors who are in the musicindustry, I also learn and see and hear things in the videos I'd otherwise miss🤷🏻‍♀️

Mr. Sarcasm is the best dead-pan comedy I've seen in a long time. This is very funny because he is able to stay in character! I did have trouble hearing parts of it, but I got the gist of it by Austin's reactions. Your laughter was infectious and Jeremy knowing the main part of the dance was a little surprising to me. I think that I can say about all of us...we love you and enjoy what you bring to us in the way of so many different genres of music, the technical aspects that we are hearing, and just the joy of watching your videos, This was a good time to get my day going. Looking forward to 1:00. Happy Home 🍟day! 🎶 Cyd

And So It Goes is so beautiful. Tim and Peter Hollens sing it on their Beautiful Duets album. The lyrics are wonderful. It’s by Billy Joel. I don’t even remember hearing it back then which is a shame. One of my favorites now. I get jamming to a nonsense song but sometimes you just have to have something beautiful to say. Like poetry for the soul. Glad you liked this. Just hearing Tim say the lyrics are so funny with Austin demonstrating. The little girl screaming though…..ow! 😍😄

@@musikbyjh He does! I worry a lil bit about folks getting offended by the “cheap seats” comments. Kinda wish he’d scale that back. But I guess he balances it out by inviting them to come down to any empty seats on the floor. Although there aren’t usually as many empty seats on the floor as there were in Memphis (thankfully).

    • @musikbyjh
      @musikbyjh  2 місяці тому

Completely agree about folks getting offended - I thought it was just me (Jillian). Came off too harsh for my personal taste, but hey, who am I?! 🥰

At the Indiana State Fair last summer, the fair offered VIP seating for folks who paid extra (the concerts are free with entrance to the fair). The chairs were nice, I think they had a cash bar, and they were close to a restroom that was closed off to anyone else, *but* they were further away from and to the left of the stage than the free benches, which were centered and close up. So Tim teased them pretty mercilessly for paying extra for crap seats.
Folks who are familiar with Tim love his savage sense of humor. You only have to listen to Champagne Taste and/or Full of Cheer to hear his wicked humor.
But, if you talk to members of the Home Free family, like Chance's wife, Sami, who drops into his discord now and again, they'll tell you he's also an absolute softie off stage. You've seen in his goodbye speech to Chris that he cries easily. I've seen it a few other times, too. I've also seen or heard of a couple instances where audience members had health issues, and Tim personally checked on them, even showing up at one woman's hospital room and talking another person through an anxiety attack at a UVIP session.
I think mostly Tim just sees the audience as friends he hasn't met yet, and roasts them the same way he would a friend on occasion. It's all in good fun.

Tim is so wickedly good with his wit. I worked with a guy once that had a similar sense of humor and it made the day fly by. I love watching reaction videos, mostly because the circle of people I know are not that interested in Home Free or other music that I appreciate, so it is nice to watch and see other people enjoying the same things. Additionally, I watch your channel, Peter Barber, Charismatic Voice and Jennifer Glatzhofer because I have no technical knowledge of singing and the music world so it is great to learn something along the way. I am a lurker because I don't feel I have much to add and that bears out in the lack of dialogue I have with others and the lack of likes when I do comment, so beyond a single algorithmic blip, I see little point to commenting but I always "like" the videos I watch. I enjoy your channel as well as the others I mentioned and I enjoy the comments of others and what they bring to the table. It takes a lot to get this uber introvert to say something (like early on when Jeremy wasn't sure about Chance) and I just felt the need to say something as someone who lurks for the most part since people who just watch seem to be a bit misunderstood. I don't speak for everyone who lurks but there may be more like me, lol, so hopefully that helps at least a little☺

I (Jillian) do read every single comment, on each video we publish (swear!!). It took a little while after we started the channel, just because we grew so quickly - but I've long since caught up. Keeping my figure on the pulse of our audience and friends is priority. Please know how grateful we are that you are here, even if you don't want to chime in. We completely 'get' what everyone means about hesitation to comment - in our experience, it really depends on the channel and the audience before we will comment. I'm hoping you feel the love in this communities of Home Fries. We are the most supportive, loving people who want you to be comfortable!!! Very much appreciate you taking the time to comment. Only do so when you are compelled - no pressure!! Hugs, Jillian (& Jeremy)

True dat! Foust takes no prisoners. But his good attributes far outweigh his negatives. Man has a HUGE heart and is on the right side on all that matters. Outside crusty and sharp sometimes....inside a big melted marshmallow. And he gets so emotional and cries big time over meaningful stuff. He acts all aloof but he's really emotionally intense. When he cries, he cries big time.
He might not have felt bad saying that about reactors to get a laugh because of the big amount of
time he spends praising them. He and Austin both have done so many interviews with reactors, they might be getting interviewed out.

Tim has a ‘playfully abusive’ relationship with the audience.
Austin has said he (Austin) could never get away with it. In the dog biscuit video, the audience wants Tim to throw them the leftover milkbines. Austin or Chris says something sarcastic like “Tim touched it, I want it”.
They’ve all told the story about the first time Tim brought his AlleyCats sassiness to the HomeFree stage. The other guys were aghast.
In some of the recent videos I’ve seen, Tim’s bit about reactors was not disparaging, but more a set up to the joke “while we’re singing this, turn to your neighbor and watch them watching us”. Which I find hilarious.
Take it as an opportunity to learn to laugh at yourselves. And I think that might be a direct Tim quote too.

Tim is a little salty and impulsive at times, but he's very smart and the off the cuff banter just adds fun and makes it more memorable really. I enjoy watching reactors, not the ones who have to get up and dance around the room and throw things not even watching the video but being overly dramatic , or the ones who stare stonefaced at the video and then cut it off at the end and not having much - if anything to say about it (which is not a reaction), but I do like the ones like you two who have something to say at the end of watching and who actually are interested in knowing who they are and growing to love them as many of us have. Most people like to have a reactor who cares about their fans too and make a connection there as you two do. The first lyrics are to a Billy Joel song and Tim is a big fan of Billy Joel.

How funny was that! And Tim keeps such a straight face throughout, but you can see all the other guys breaking up. Just shows what kind of garbage is considered a hit song these days. You don't need decent lyrics or music or even know how to sing anymore. The beautiful lyrics Tim was reciting at first is Billy Joel's song "And So It Goes". Tim & Peter Hollens recently did a great cover of it.

Oh and about kids not wanting to learn but just vibe...I dare say that us older folks were perfectly capable of just vibin' to music like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, the Doors, The Beatles, Nirvana etc.etc. There was plenty of vibin' going on. It's like when my kids had school dances and I would chaperone, they had no idea how to dance to anything that was not rap. That one shocked me. What I would call a dance song, unless it was a slow dance, not a kid on the floor. But toss in a rap, and the floor was packed. And if they did play what I would call a dance song, the kids would fuss that they couldn't dance to it. Don't think I will ever forget that bizarre experience.

1990, when Billy Joel’s “And So it Goes” charted it was behind such deep songs as "Pump Up the Jam", “Step by Step” by New Kids, “Poison” by "Pump Up the Jam" and Madonna’s “Vogue”.
Most really popular songs throughout the decades have been pointless lyrically. I grew up during disco. Todays music it not worse.

In defense of the younger generations, dance music has always been more vibe than brain. "Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong? Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop shoo bop? Who put the dip in the dip da dip da dip?" That's hardly intellectual, and it's referencing the dance music of its generation. And dance music is popular. But every generation has its thoughtful songs, too. It's a funny bit, to be sure, but you can't really compare a vulnerable love ballad like Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" to a dance song from any era.

to the comments that basically said (about rap) "we don't want to have to listen to the words" - Jeremy is a perfect example of someone who doesn't often listen to the words but still really enjoys the music. Songs with great lyrics can be enjoyed by everyone, but words with crap lyrics can't satisfy those of us who WANT the words to at least make coherent sentences.
I love watching the other guys - especially when they give up all effort to keep straight faces. Adam often used to supply subtle sound effects for Tim's standup routines, but this one flummoxed even him. He will be losing his straight man this fall, though.
As others have said, you really need to go watch Tim and Peter's version of "And So It Goes", which was written by Billy Joel and released in 89.
I did not know the new "music" that he was referencing, but I think that made the skit even more hilarious.

    • @musikbyjh
      @musikbyjh  2 місяці тому +1

I totally agree with most of what you said. But the funny thing about me (Jeremy) with lyrics is…when it comes to hip hop/rap, I’m VERY much the type of person who wants to hear intellectual lyrics. I like clever, fast paced, similes and double entendres…when it comes to rap, I’m very much about the lyrics. The beat is easy for me to get into and I don’t typically focus on it a lot. But music with instrumentation (or melodies of layered acapella vocals) are just so interesting to me, that there’s too much to focus on, rather than limit myself to just words. And then, the paradox is…when I actually learn the lyrics, I’m usually STOKED on how deep the music I like is.
      Yeah…I’m a weird one. lol.

Unpopular opinion from a random 40 year old dude... Any music on mainstream radio from 2000 to now is absolute dumpster fire garbage 🔥
Its all pushing an agenda nobody wants to hear.
Any music before 2000 is pretty good. But just to be safe.. My go to music of choice is any branch of techno.. Weather its just basic techno or if its trance or drum n bass.... All those are good and dont typically push an agenda except to have a good time... Or have a headache the next day 😂 lol.

Home Free actually has great respect and gratitude for reactors. They pay homage often to the reactors, noting how much reactors have increased their fan base.
