  • With Attack on Titan finally ending I wanted to talk about the hatred that the Attack On Titan manga ending got. AOT is one of the best animes of our generation. There is a reason why Attack on Titan is a Top 10 Anime for many people. A lot of people are doing Attack on Titan Ending reactions and I can see why. Attack On Titan was really a once in a generation anime and I am glad that I was able to witness such a masterpiece anime as it was airing. The Attack on Titan Finale was one to remember. Anyway i am out, PLUS ULTRA!!

Nature is above our logic. His plan mever was a masterplan. That was the best which worked best for him. Erased Titans for atleast 100-1000 years. Resetting humanity so they can start to unify. Bringing paradise of the level of the outter world. secure that his friends could live long lifes and don't get erased due to Marley. Seen and travel the outter world with his best friend Armin.
He just is born into a world where his character have that impact and leads to huge colleteral damage. He always moved forward/ attacked. That was always his character. He portrays the ambivalence of human nature. He is the freest person and the biggest slave at the same time. Coldest stoic and biggest crybaby. Full of hate but even full of love and hope. Extreme selfish and selfless at once. Etc.. We are just driven by emotions. That is why humanity always gonna fight each other. Human don't act logical. We are just slaves of our emotions/ body/ biology, physics, society. Everything has to happen cause it happens. Everything is determined. Aot and especially the character Eren portrays that excellent Imo.

Hajime Isayama played a joke on us. He created one of the best anime ever and right at the end, after winning our hearts, he murdered the anime and covered it in shame. Isayama is still a genius, he knew what he was doing, but he's also suicidal, he destroyed it all, heart breaking.
We see exactly what he was going for, he built an opportunity for gold then destroyed it (on purpose imo) and replaced it with obvious trash, then he watched his fans eat it, and they hated it, and he laughed at us. Heartbreaking.

    • @ryanashfyre464
      @ryanashfyre464 10 місяців тому

Except that's *not* what Isayama actually did when you stop to think about it.
Who *was* Eren Yaeger at the beginning of AoT? A brash young man w/ an unbreakable will who sought to fight his way through any situation no matter how much despair crept in on him - and what, exactly, did Isayama do to my boy by the end? Turned him into a pale shadow of his former self; a hapless ghost just trodding along a predetermined path set before him that he wasn't even going to try to avert, even if it meant killing his own mother and having his purported friends suffer unimaginable tragedy for effectively no purpose whatsoever.
Now if you can reconcile those 2 characters (and they are 2 *entirely* separate characters as far as I'm concerned) in your mind and honestly say that there's nothing wrong there, I can't help you.
One character sends a message of never giving up, no matter how tough things get and the other throws his hands up and says: "f**k it, we're not even going to try anymore. The world's terrible, things will never get better and it's pointless to even try".
This isn't a respectable difference of opinion, it's the clear line in the sand between embracing the best in humanity and rationalizing nihilistic despair. People who try to defend AoT's ending are definitely in the latter camp.

As if Eren's friends living long lives having to bear the burden of not only their friend dying, but 80% of the entire population of the world for effectively no purpose whatsoever is something to be grateful for? And keep in mind that Eren himself *knew* it was going to end this way and did nothing whatsoever to stop it.
Let's not brush aside the actual context of the consequences here. I don't particularly care about shipping or whether Eren ended up w/ Mikasa or not, but what he did to her is genuinely horrific and it was for basically nothing. Her life, no matter how long, was basically just a string of unending tragedies one after another. That her own dear 'friend' betrayed her in the way he did is just the putrid cherry on top of all that.

    Notes from Sept 15th 2020
The AOT ending ruins the whole story. What was once my favorite anime is now tainted, just like Game of Thrones ended disastrously. And here's why:
Eren should have only destroyed Marly with the rumbling. The whole last fight should have been to save the lives of the last Eldians, the family and parents of the main group. The catch would be that some Marly were mixed in and Eren was trying to wipe them out. The fight would have happend the same but the centipede would have gotten back to Eren but Micasa killed it to get Eren out of it. That would have destroyed the titan powers reverting everyone back.
Yamir would have been set free by Micasa. Micasa would have taken Eren to some place to live for the rest of his life as Armin and the others made peace with that rest of the world. Paradice would still be united and become a huge world power so that all Eldians would be safe. Eren would have gained freedom meaning his plan to reach back in time and use force to gain his freedom would have worked. He used the power of the life force to gain freedom unlike Yamir who failed to become free after using the life force. Eren has a kid with Micasa and they declare that he is free. This should have been the ending.
... Historia should have never gotten pregnant by a rando, she should have been with Rainer.
... Yamir would have stayed because she was not strong enough to fight for freedom and she needed to lead the way for Eren who would have gained freedom.
... No need for Yamir nor Eren being at fault for his mothers death, that would still be Marlys fault.
... Yamir is clearly weak and needed saving so it is completely wrong to make her the master mind that controlled Eren. It should have been the Adam and New Adam (Jesus) story model.
... Saying that Eren caused his mother to be killed is completely unnecessary. The ex wife Titan simply targeted his mother and there was no way to save her and keep the mission going. That way it's more indirect and a tragic consequence. Use a plot point like, he had limited chances to effect the past and had to choose the most efficient path to full freedom. He could not save everyone, ie he would have stopped the collosol and armored Titan invasion but that would not lead to freedom. Typical time traval issues and compromises.
Hajime Isayama played a joke on us. He created one of the best anime ever and right at the end, after winning our hearts, he murdered the anime and covered it in shame. Isayama is still a genius, he know what he was doing, but he's also suicidal, he destroyed it all, heart breaking.
Attack on Titan's ending ruined Eren as a character, this was completely unnecessary. Now Eren is weak. Eren wants more freedom (ok) BUT he simply destroys the whole world, now freedom is meaningless. Also, he becomes a genocidal idiot not a conqueror. He lacks the power to control/lead the world. Dropping a nuclear bomb shows a lack of power. Bringing freedom, justice, and salvation shows real power. He simply gave up.
His whole mission was a failure because he lost his freedom still and he failed to gain freedom for his people. Eldians are now the monsters of the world and have a bigger target on there backs. Eren is a weak hypocrite. Nothing was solved. Eren should have become a king, growing his power, destroying others powers, protecting his freedom by taking others power and giving freedom to his people.
But Eren is weak so he could not become a king and he just settled for being a genocidal idiot. This is fake power because he has an inability to control his world so he quits on the world and just destroys it, ruler of nothing means nothing. He could have runaway to a place where he could be free, build a world of his own, but there is no place to hide if you don't have the power to create it. In the end all are not free and we keep eachother enslaved, no one is powerful enough to set themselves free let alone others. It will always be a constant struggle. With this ending, Eren never had a chance of ending well.

For me, the ending was perfect. Eren got what he wanted, but it came with a huge price. As for the cycle, hasn't it always been like that? Those who don't know history are deemed to repeat it,and clearly, the kid who entered the tree don't know anything about the origin of titans.

I did not like the ending of attack on titan. Ymir loving King Fritz makes absolutely no sense. There is no evidence in the show as to what king fritz did not make her feel anything less than absolute hatred towards that man. Ruining Ymir's character ruins the plot of the show because everything that happened was because Ymir was in love with her abuser. Another reason why I did not like it is how the killers of Eren Yaeger are allowed to go to Paradise Island to be ambassadors of peace when the island is run by fanatics who worship Eren Yaeger as their lord and savior. However, I am not an AOE fan. I think Eren being an idiot being given too much power and Eren's plan ultimately failing to achieve world piece is the point of attack on titan. I enjoyed the scene where Armin tells Eren that they will burn in hell together. I did not like the execution of how Eren was confused or did not know what he was doing instead of saying he wanted to wipe out humanity because he was disappointed but at the same time wanted his friends to stop him because he feels bad about the genocide he is committing. That would have been more powerful. Eren being a simp is ok for me as it gives us good memes. Btw, school days ending is an 8/10 and is better than the aot ending. The school days ending turned the anime from a 2/10 to a 4/10, while the aot ending turned the anime from a 10/10 to a 9/10

It is not about sense or logic. Human are driven by emotions. I know many women who act like Ymir personally. The problem with that in aot is just that the build up was mid af. But it definetely makes sense even for that world.

    • @Snzn18
      @Snzn18 10 місяців тому +1

Ymir developed a Stockholm syndrome, so of course normal people n a normal state of headspace won't fully get how Ymir fell in love with a vile person. But to give you hints, Ymir was basically is a hated person even among her fellow slaves after she freed those pigs. Her fellow slaves got punished for it, She got her tongue cut out and limiting how she can communicate with any person. This puts her in a position that makes her unlikely to "get married" since not only is she a slave but also among the slaves she is being ostracized by her fellow slaves themselves. So her childish dream of getting that fantasy wedding seems likely to stay a dream.
Until King Fritz decided to marry her.
This is but a tragic fuck up thing which is why the anime made it easier for people and Had Mikasa point out that this love of Ymir is nothing but a long nightmare. Like you can look at irl cases itself where people being domestically abuse still cling to such toxic relationships despite everybody else telling them to just break up.

@GutsandBlood231 I completely agree with what you said. I understand that Ymir loving king Fritz is a realistic emotion. Some people feel that way and have their own reasons for it. My problem is that aot fails to explore some of those reasons. In a romance story where a girl enters into an abusive relationship, the story will explore how and why she fell in love with her abuser. For example, house in fata morgana requiem of innocence. You got someone falling in love with a horrible person. It shows the abuser showing sign of kindness and the victim showing signs of mental illness. I understand aot is not a romance story, but if you got a character as important as Ymir whose actions affected the entire story, the explanation behind her motives need to be handled properly. I am ok with the idea of stockholm syndrome if it was executed properly which is why I am ok with Eren's character in the ending because it was done properly.

@@langmuir-hinshelwood1686 I can see the appeal of in explicitly showing the audience more of Ymir's love for King Fritz.
But considering how Isayama incorporates romance in Aot don't really leans towards exploring deeply much less show it in a way where "oh at this moment Armin fell in love Annie"
He really put those hints very subtle, loke clues the readers will piece to together.
As fan, of course if possible I am open with the idea of expanding that Ymir tragic lovestruck. But also by having read Isayama have written AoT thus far it was integrated enough to be in line with how romance has been done in Aot.
I know stuff like "how this particular writer writes tomance or particular side theme" seems not so important.
But for me at least these elements are a part of what specific author/artists do with their stories that makes their work differ and unique from like other authors/artists makes their story.
Just like the Lost Girls Aot LN which was also adapted into OVA.
They were written by another author with the supervision of Isayama and at least for me can feel the difference on how the story were told from like how Isayama would do. I do like the story of what those LN told but there is still that clear distinction of it being told by a different person. And also the reason why Isayama did not really try to put it in the manga itself is that it is a story that Armin could possibly potentially narrate since the manga and the anime's narrator is Armin

I don't know about the manga readers (I don't read manga) but the anime ending was bad.
I mean what you expect from an anime that has "time travelling"...the ending wasn't that bad tho...
It was a solid 9.2/10 (until the start of the Season 4...it got to 2/10 from there).
EDIT: If the entire anime had more (or at least *ANY* kind of) "romance" then I wouldn't say that it was a bad ending...but the anime just doesn't deserve this ending!
And the whole 8 years thing after Titans being erased...just garbage!

    • @GutsandBlood231

It never had romance cause romance never had a place for those who lived at the time. Eren never couöd have had any romance. That makes it tragic. It is a Drama Cliché which you don't expected here cause it never had build up. I can understand why you don't like that. But that is cause the focus was more about surviving. That is why Eren and Mikasa chose to not have that romance. They promised each other.

The only named characters that died in this last episode are two characters that wanted to die (Eren and Zeke)!
Levi didn't deserved that kill...Zeke just stood there and kinda said: "-Here...just do it already dude!"
      Same with Eren.
Mikasa wasn't even a character in the story...it was kinda like Nezuko in Demon Slayer.
Until her last breath she was obsessed with Eren for no reason...she didn't talk much...she was basically Eren's simp and "guard dog"!
The only reason she has more that zero fans is because she is "strong" (in combat)...but she is *NOT* a character at all.
