LOL!! Those early boards and designs were a little sloppy I must say. Ironically enough they are the most sought after until this day. This is so cool to see and yes, Teo made a big change at Stam but also Marcos, Seb and the team behind them!!
The Dream Team! It’s been an amazing journey Josh, from humble beginnings to what you and the team are accomplishing today. I look forward to a bright future and I’m so happy to have been a part of it from close to the beginning.
I’ve got an SA-87+ Tim Campbell capsule mic made in 2019. Sowter transformer has a thicker more sturdy foam underneath than yours. Boards on both sides look quite a bit different. Capacitors look different and everything is positioned different on the board. Love this mic 🖤 funny enough I just ordered an SA-47 mkII from Josh today 🤘🤩🤘
Interesting observation. My original MK1 is from 2018, so yours being a “+” a year later may explain the difference. Congrats on the 47MK2, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. How do you like your 87+?
@@reddmusiclab Love the 87+ mic. Use it with Rupert Neve Designs Shelford Channel, Tree Audio The Branch, BAE 312 API clone, mic pairs great with all of them. Tried a modern U87 Ai and did blind A/B with some of my peers and SA-87+ won every time.
Haha! That’s great to hear. I wonder what it is that makes many not like the U-87ai. Glad the mic worked out for you, sounds like you have some nice recording chains. Hope the SA-47MK2 brings that same type of satisfaction.
Hmmm…. Interesting insight. Well…. Stam announced the SA-87i which of course yours truly pre-ordered already. So it’ll be interesting to see the differences between MK3 and 87i.

In my opinion the U87 Ai is noticeably brighter and hotter. I’m sure the SA-47 mkII will be another standout mic in my collection 🙌
