For some reason I wasn't that excited for MK3DS initially... but now holy shit I want this game so much. This, OoT, Uprising and later that new Mario game should keep my busy on my 3DS for a LONG time.
@Sparklerocket Stars and Bullet Bills make sense as power ups because they make you go faster, and the make you invincible. The Lightning does too because it makes everyone else go slower (making you go faster, relatively speaking). The Blue Shell doesn't power up its user, it only powers down the guy in front. It's not even fun to use because you don't get to see the immediate results.
@kar1ozs they had them in the original SNES game. Assuming they have the same function here, they increase speed and prevent you from wrecking if you keep getting bumped into.
@SuperMysticSonic But it still has that little start up tune from Double Dash just before the starts lights change and menu song is rehashed from the Wii.
Other games like Modnation Racers even do the kart racing formula better than Mario Kart, but there's something about Mario Kart that warms your heart everytime you play it that makes it better than the rest.
@DinerSals in super mario kart and mario kart super circuit, coins made you car go faster in mario kart arcade gp and mario kart arcade gp 2 the coins were used as part of an unlockable system in this one, it could be almost anything
so you get to take any car, put any wheel, but no stats, then you take the last one which just slowers your fall and........thats it, there is also an propelor which just makes you move faster underwater, thats just like add ons

@seanmitchell88 apparently the item system is going to be fixed, probally the coins serve a purpose in deciding how good items you get, like the more you collect the better items you get, that would be cool
@MooseTomson It actually has 4 hour battery life with 3D on. 3D is quite a battery hog, but yeah.... There are different things that you could use like a car charger or a rechargeable battery pack. Btw, I wonder if the 3DS second control stick accessory is so clunky because maybe Nintendo wanted it to have extra battery life? Oh, and I wasn't raging or anything before so sorry if you thought that. :p
Anyone noticed: The Demo of Mario Kart 7 playable characters are the same from Super Mario Kart on the SNES, except it's DK, not DK Jr. You know, the current characters.
I was kinda thinking it would be cool to use the gyro scope to drift. Might be awkward. BTW, did you dodge a blue shell by paraschuting i think it was the second time? I might be mistaken :/
@FruitNinja21 of course! and you need it for many great games like mario kart 7 and the next smash bros. on september 12 or 13, nintendo is doing a conference about the nintendo 3ds. they may anounce a 3ds redesign(hopefully not) but if they do, you can wait for it since you are still saving money :D
Please tell me there's a way to change the accelerate button from A to B. I can't play MK:DS for more than 10 minutes becuase that control setup always makes my hands and fingers saw. But anyway, there's coins like in SMK and MK:SC! And I didn't see any blue shells! But there's that MKW music, not something new, it's not bad music but it isn't good either.
@masterofdoom5000 In online competitions, I'll still have it on, but probably set pretty low at like 25% depth. I dunno, we'll see how it goes I guess.
Im liking this. I wonder if the coins are used the same way as in Super Mario Cart and Mario Cart Super Circut where the more coins you have, the faster you go. I hope that for control's, you can use the R button for driving and the L button for drifint so you have your right thumb for the face buttons for anything else. Gotten used to that from modern day racers.

@Jmorg108 ok, wasnt expecting that. I have no problem with the handheld games, but surely u would agree that it is easier to play with a controller, andfor that one reason i want it on a console. On mario kart double dash i can get insane drifts round the corners, on a handheld i would be so much worse!
@samiamtamaal1 theres no EXACT release date...YET lol but most people say it will be in November, Nintendo Network says it will be on Holiday 2011, most Nintendo games come out on Fridays, and in November Veterans Day is the only Friday Holiday so possibly that day. but im sure its in holiday 2011
@Salamence492 there is actually 3 laps.....this is only the demo so it has 2 laps.......there is 1 map that will only have 1 lap because it is very lon which will be wuwu island

It's usually the guy who's behind everyone else who gets the blue shell, so he doesn't actually gain anything from it, aside from the twisted satisfaction of knowing that the guy in front gets delayed. It also punishes you for being good, which is an absolutely ridiculous thing for a game to do.
Wow, that slide on 1:40 reminds me of Mario Party 3. The mini game 1 vs. 3 where one man throws boulders down a cliff and you have to climb to the top without getting hit. Thats cool
@seanmitchell88 thats true, but maby its like a combination of how far behind you are and how many coins you have, like being in last place and alot of coins will get all the best items compared with 1st with none and even though in the demo you don't lose coins, if coins are related to the item system it might be fair if you can lose coins say if you get hit by a shell or something, that way if all the coins are collected, you can 'steal' other players, like MKWii battle mode
I wonder how to gliding works in this. I'm sure I'm not the only one that plays Mario Kart DS on the 3DS, and the joystick thing doesn't work well for it, and the D-Pad isn't great, kinda sticky. I hope it's different from DS just so it fits with the system.

10 years later the first update is finally here for Mario Kart 7
Its cool how you can customize the carts with different wheels and attatchments to make winning easier. That's pretty smart.

Getting this game is a no-brainer. I sunk hours into the previous DS MK game. The e3 trailer wasn't all that exciting, but this video pumped me up! :D

the audio/ost is the excact same as MKWii .. so the 3DS will defenitely have good audio when the game releases!!:D
